Bill Clinton ‘pulling’ for Craig and family…

On the more lighthearted side, it seems Bill Clinton is taking the higher road. Sen. Craig was a total dick to Clinton during the impeachment hearings. Hey I can admit ol’ Bubba understands the nature of being caught up in a sex scandal.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – Embattled Sen. Larry Craig was one of Bill Clinton’s fiercest critics during the Senate’s 1999 impeachment trial, but the former president told CNN’s Larry King Wednesday he takes no pleasure in the Idaho Republican’s current situation and is “pulling” for Craig and his family.

“Honestly, didn’t feel any great joy,” Clinton said in an interview to air tonight at 9 p.m. ET. “When it was going on I knew that a lot of them were outed for hypocrisy before this.”

Tears? Really..?

crying

Tears of a Clown
from Crooks and Liars:

“I’ve got God’s shoulder to cry on. And I cry a lot. I do a lot of crying in this job. I’ll bet I’ve shed more tears than you can count, as president,” Bush told Draper.

Bush admits to Robert Draper, author of the book “Dead Certain”, that he cries. Really…?

That would be refreshing if (a) it were actually true, and (b) they were not crocodile tears, you know, tears on cue, and (c) he were actually crying out of shame for what he has wrought on this country – for taking us into an unnecessary war through lies and manipulation resulting in the needless deaths and disabling of thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and the tears were not for himself. I wouldn’t want to see just a single tear trickling down his cheek, I would hope to see him down on his knees, sobbing inconsolably. Continue reading

Two Republican Candidates Act Tough

‘TV FRED ONLY ACTS TOUGH'; RUDY’S A REAL-LIFE CRIMEBUSTER: KING: A top adviser to Rudy Giuliani yesterday trashed rival Fred Thompson as an actor whose experience fighting crime is busting make-believe criminals on television. “Rudy is a real crime fighter,” said Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.). “Fred Thompson has primarily done it on television.” King, former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, is an adviser to Giuliani on national-security issues

The Trouble With “Trouble”

Millionaire Maltese Needs Pit Bull Lawyer

“Leona Helmsley’s millionaire Maltese – who last week received $12 million from the Queen of Mean’s will – needs legal representation if she expects to maintain her five-star lifestyle, a pet trust specialist said yesterday.”

A DOG LAWYER?? Does he speak dog language? Will they call in other dogs to testify on behalf of poor “Trouble”? Will a doggy psychologist will be called in to testify to the emotional state of the poor (well, I mean VERY RICH) maltese? Will the dog take the stand to bark on his behalf? Then there are the more practical questions we all want to know..

Do dogs with $12 million dollars have to pay taxes? Who writes the checks? Is his name on the bank checks? Will the dog know if someone is stealing from him? These are all things I want to know..
Its just another sign that the apocalypse is upon us..

Take That Fox News!

Kos Is Media, Federal Ruling Determines

Bill O’Reilly blasts DailyKos as a “hate site,” but according to a federal ruling released Tuesday, the popular liberal blog is as much a part of the media as Fox News when it comes to campaign finance rules.

The Federal Election Commission unanimously dismissed a complaint filed against DailyKos by a right-wing blogger who had argued it was illegally acting as a political committee by giving support and free advertising to Democratic candidates.

Senator Craig, You Dialed the Wrong Number

Roll Call | September 5, 2007 08:58 AM

Roll Call reports:

Sen. Larry Craig (R) opened the possibility of reversing his stated intention to resign from the Senate on Sept. 30 in a voice mail message obtained by Roll Call that the Idaho conservative inadvertently left at a wrong number.

The Next Quagmire

via Chris Hedges
from Truthdig.com:

“But we live in an age where dialogue is dismissed and empathy is suspect. We prefer the illusion that we can dictate events through force. It hasn’t worked well in Iraq. It hasn’t worked well in Afghanistan. And it won’t work in Iran. But those who once tried to reach out and understand, who developed expertise to explain the world to us and ourselves to the world, no longer have a voice in the new imperial project. We are instead governed and informed by moral and intellectual trolls.”

Germany arrests three terror suspects

Three men have been arrested in Germany over an alleged bombing-plot to strike Frankfurt Airport and the US Airbase in Ramstein.

According to Germany’s “Der Spiegel” the men arrested were two German muslims and a man from Pakistan. The “Sueddeutsche Zeitung” doesn’t give positive information as to the nationalities of the arrested men.

Update: This looks they the three, two Germans and one Turk meant business. According

to police sources they were planning to build Madrid and London-sytle bombs, but in a much larger scale. Police seems to have had

them in their view for a while and even exchanged the barrels of chemicals

for a harmless substance.

Info and Pictures are here and here.

PS: I apologize for the poor formatting but I’m not at my usual place.

WaterClosetGate Update: Republicans Eating Their Own

Saturno devorando a su hijoA collection of CNN snippets over the evolution of the Larry Craig WaterClosetGate scandal reveals a state of confusion as Republicans struggle with the desire to eat one another alive. He should resign! He should fight! He’s a disgrace! He’s been framed! Craig is bad but Vitter is worse! No, Craig is worse than Vitter! And up is down, and down is up, and the carousel goes round and round…

‘Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Friday called Craig’s conduct “unforgivable” and acknowledged that many in his caucus believe Craig should resign.’

‘Sen. John McCain, a GOP presidential candidate, has called Craig’s case “disgraceful.” Another Republican senator, Norm Coleman of Minnesota, has said Craig pleaded guilty to “a crime involving conduct unbecoming a senator.”‘

Open Thread: VP Al Gore on outrage

VP Gore, as we all, could make use of Dumbledore’s pensieve.

via ThinkProgress:

I have a lot of friends who share the following problem with me: Our sense of outrage is so saturated that when a new outrage occurs, we have to download some existing outrage into an external hard drive in order to make room for a new outrage.

Sir, you can make a difference as the next President, if you run for office!
