Randi Rhodes Severely Beaten in NYC Attack

Randi Rhodes was mugged on Sunday night on 39th Street and Park Ave, nearby her Manhattan apartment, while she was walking her dog Simon.
According to Air America Radio late night host Jon Elliott, Rhodes was beaten up pretty badly, losing several teeth and will probably be off the air for at least the rest of the week. At of late Monday night we have not able to locate any press accounts of the attack and nothing has been posted on the AAR website.
Several liberal blogs, including the Randi Rhodes Message Board and Democratic Underground have logged numerous posts on the Rhodes mugging with most of the posters expressing concern about the condition of the popular lib talker.

This is really weird Zooey.
I just heard on Air America that Randi wasn’t mugged; that she just fell.. Really weird..
They said there was never a police report made. Apparently she ‘fell’ while walking her dog and just doesn’t remember falling. Other than that, she will be back on Thursday. Sounds fishy to me. They did confirm she lost several teeth. Sure sounds like she got roughted up to me. Perhaps if she did get beat up, she doesn’t want to empower or allow herself to be intimidated by the ones who did it by giving them credit for hurting her, or maybe she doesn’t want other Liberal talk show hosts to become intimidated due to what happened to her… She is one tough cookie.
Then again, maybe she did just fall.. I wonder what she will say when she returns?

What? She fell ONE time and did enough damage to knock out several teeth?
Not likely. Why wouldn’t she remember falling?

This is one really strange story.
Last thing I read about this strange tale, Rhodes’ attorney was disputing the mugging story line, and Elliot was retracting his version of the facts.
I suspect someone got carried away and started “embellishing” the story and adding facts of their own.
Sometimes facts are so boring and mundane.
Having said that, if it was a fall, that was one nasty stumble she took. Hopefully her recovery will be speedy.
