  • thanks, zooey!

it’s great that the lyrics are there also…

the artists did a fantastic job…
and we all need all the hope and inspiration we can get…
it doesn’t get much better than that.

  • one of the better comments at C&L – check it out:

It doesn’t matter who you’re supporting, this is an incredibly effective, emotional piece. And yes, politics is just as much about emotion as it is logic – go back and read the posts above if you don’t believe that.

This video was posted on redstate.org with the title “Freakin’ Awesome Obama Music Video” – REDSTATE.ORG, for crying out loud. Read some of the comments there. One person said “I may disagree with his politics but I’d be lying if I said Barack Obama doesn’t make me proud to be an American.” And frankly, that’s what Obama is about – we will move much further down the road if we can stop fighting with each other and start talking. I never thought I’d agree with a redstate reader, but damn, I AM proud to be an American, and it’s been a long time since I could say that.

And shantiquax, I must be old. The only one I recognized in the video was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

btw – the lyrics, and other links, are here:

  • ah, the warm fuzzy glow of hope.

As eliquent as that was, I wonder what position the great leaders that Obama seems fit to align himself with, would say about the serious humanitarian crisis that has been caused by Israel’s closing of the borders of Gaza?

    Because this is what Obama said about it when he tried to keep the UN Security Council from condemning the action;

    “Dear Ambassador Khalilzad,

I understand that today the UN Security Council met regarding the situation
in Gaza, and that a resolution or statement could be forthcoming from the
    Council in short order.

I urge you to ensure that the Security Council issue no statement and pass
no resolution on this matter that does not fully condemn the rocket assault
Hamas has been conducting on civilians in southern Israel…

All of us are concerned about the impact of closed border crossings on
Palestinian families. However, we have to understand why Israel is forced to
do this… Israel has the right to respond while seeking to minimize any
    impact on civilians.

The Security Council should clearly and unequivocally condemn the rocket
attacks… If it cannot bring itself to make these common sense points, I
urge you to ensure that it does not speak at all.

    Sincerely,

    Barack Obama
    United States Senator”

In short he is saying the either the UN should blindly support the actions of Israel while they punish an entire population for the actions of a very small percentage, or the UN should be silenced and kept from denouncing the cruel action.

What do you think Gandi would have to say to that? Or King?

If you wish to read what a real progressive had to say about the critical situation facing the Palistinian people in Gaza, check out Kucinich’s letter on my site.

  • You will need all the inspiration and hope and self confidence that “yes, you can”, you can muster for the years ahead.

Obama is a leader that believes in inspiring others to move forward and improve their lives and our nation. Hillary is a leader that believes she can do it all. We have a “I can do it all” leader right now and I, personally don’t want another one of them. Obama will get my vote in April. Hope is what keeps me alive each day otherwise there would be no reason to live. I will not give up HOPE.

BTW – I supported Governor Bill Richardson and he still is number one to me. Obama and Clinton were my last choices. Now that they are all that remains, I choose Barack. I choose HOPE.

  • I agree Willy. It is so easy to talk the talk instead of walk the talk. That was why I like Kucinich, too. He actually walked. We will see. While I would love all the hype to be true, I am not convinced a big pro-corporate sponsorship, pro-Israel candidate will be all that much better for us. I HOPE this is not someone to be disappointed in again. (Like Pelosi, Reid and the Dems in ‘06)
