The way Hillary Clinton pictures herself on the campaign trail, expect a schedule loaded with meetings with the leaders of this world, while being fired upon by snipers. 35 years of experience crammed into 96 months in the White House, make for a very busy, tiring schedule! I expect this: 3 a.m. Phone conference with Ian Paisley, re: Nothern Ireland Peace 1 p.m. Lunch with CEO’s of Pfizer and Bristol Myers Squibb on lowering prices. 6 p.m. Departure for Kosovo. Bring bullet proof vests – sniper fire expected I get this, or like John Broder says:
[The documents]“offer no support for her claims that she helped negotiate the Irish peace accords or facilitated the flow of refugees in the Balkans. There is no evidence to back up her claim that she helped pass the Family and Medical Leave Act, the first legislation Mr. Clinton signed as president in February 1993. The legislation, sponsored by Senator Christopher J. Dodd, Democrat of Connecticut, sailed through Congress and landed on Mr. Clinton’s desk 10 days after he was inaugurated.
Phone logs and tax papers next, please! UPDATE: Newsweek says:
The schedule is considerably less revealing when it comes to more awkward episodes of the Clinton presidency. Consider the afternoon of March 9, 1995, when Johnny Chung, a businessman and soon-to-be-notorious Democratic Party fund-raiser, made a fateful trip to the White House carrying a campaign check for $50,000. For many critics, Chung later became a symbol of the campaign-finance abuses of the Clinton presidency, a mysterious Chinese businessman who managed to be cleared into the White House on 49 occasions. (He also later pleaded guilty to campaign-finance violations and testified that a sizeable chunk of his illegal campaign cash came from a Chinese military-intelligence operative.) Hillary Clinton made a special trip to the Map Room that day so she could have her picture taken with Chung [...] But Hillary Clinton’s newly released calendar for that day shows no reference to Johnny Chung
The Clinton’s are doing a fine job, cheneying up their records, it seems.

I think we need a [s] in the first line just in front of “he helped negotiate”. Presuming that this is a reference to HRC and not Bill.
March 19, 2008 at 6:03 pm
It does seem to reference Her Royal C. doesn’t it?
March 19, 2008 at 6:08 pm
Obviously she’s the second coming of Christ, you guys just don’t appreciate her, hrumph.
March 19, 2008 at 6:09 pm
Now she appears to be threatening Obama that if he doesn’t make sure there’s a vote in Michigan HE is going to pay. What does that mean?
March 19, 2008 at 6:20 pm
She is trying to be in control of the situation. She is trying to look like she is in charge. If he complies, he looks weaker than her and I think that’s her goal. Tough spot to be in for him.
March 19, 2008 at 6:21 pm
She also must have something up her sleeve if she is pushing this so hard. If it was going to benefit him in some way, she wouldn’t be pushing this.

Great picture ev..

Yikes. No wonder she got Botox.
I’ll be home soon — I feel like Hillary looks.

Hillary wants Florida because she was in on it. She knew that the Republicans were going to do this. That is why she put her name on the ballot.
She is no better than the neocon scum we are always complaining about. She would rather destroy the Democratic party than lose the race.
Screw Hillary.
March 19, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Well, we’ll see if the people at dailyKos take notice of my song parody about her. I posted it there earlier this evening. So far, as I anticipated, nothing.
March 19, 2008 at 7:43 pm
I couldn’t agree more Spudge. She is all but indistinguishable from a Republican.
March 19, 2008 at 8:02 pm
This is O/T but would one of you guys please post this as a thread? Every person in America should see this.

I am so very, very sad right now.

She is all but indistinguishable from a Republican.
I noticed that, too. It’s what inspired me to include the line:
“But hold your nose cause here goes, she’s Goldwater”
I fear she would work hard to woo the Republican vote, sort of a counter to Reagan Democrats, she wants to win with Hillary Republicans (which, forgive me, sounds kind of nasty).

I’ll let it download while I read this play, MizzJ, then take a look at it.

Thanks, Z.

That is sad, MsJoanne. And I don’t recall hearing much from our own country’s media, though I admit I do not know how many, if any, reports there have been. I knew it was bad, and barely better than the first day the waters receded enough in New Orleans to go into those areas.
I wonder how those developers’ plans to put luxury hotels up along the coast are coming along. Now that a lot of people are losing their homes, it will probably be easier for them to get rid of the Shlump Housing and put up Trump Housing. (I have no idea if he has development plans there.)
March 19, 2008 at 8:23 pm
And there is another pretty major disaster today in Missouri. Flood waters seemed to take hold pretty good there.
Can’t wait to see how the government addresses that.
I guess we need to see how rich or white the people there are.

Two new threads up.

Thanks, Z. That cartoon is breathtakingly heartbreaking, too.

If I were in Hillary’s place today I would be very depressed. Obama has just shown by his speech on race, how far above her he really is! By every measure he met the challenge and exceeded it. There was no avoidance, no evasion and no triangulating. He simply took responsibility for who he is, and what he believes, in hard words! Just honest talk coming from the heart, but spoken from the brain. (Deep connection and emotion, spoken with a serious, yet cool and calm appearance.) It was the “high road” taken to another level. He spoke not only to the immediate campaign issue of his minister, but broadened that discussion to chart the course on the problem of race in this country. And he is just beginning…
And then today he effectively ripped into John McBush in a speech about Iraq. Here was a different side of Barack Obama! Sharp, confident, confrontational and tough, even while he is supposed to be overwhelmed by attacks, both by the right and the left! A weak and confused man with only pretty words but no substance; no “experience”. A man who will crumble at the first sign of difficulty. Hillary must now realize he has put to rest the notion that he will not be able to deal with the adversity that is sure to come from the neocon swift boaters. How must Hillary feel as she takes the low road, knowing now for sure that Barack could deal with her as he has just done with McBush?
The gulf between them has widened into a chasm, in my view. The grand compared to the petty. There really can no longer be any comparison between them.
March 19, 2008 at 9:56 pm
Hillary appears to be quite comfortable on the “low road” merlin. In fact she seems to keep going down hill and finding new forks in the low road.
And what nobody really talks about is that Obama writes his own speeches. When is the last time we had a president who was able to do that.
In my mind, Hillary isn’t fit to shine Barack Obama’s shoes any more.

“And what nobody really talks about is that Obama writes his own speeches. When is the last time we had a president who was able to do that.”
To me, that was really apparent in the “race speech”! No one could have written that speech but Barack Obama! It truly is a masterpiece and it fit him like a glove! Most political speeches sound stilted. The words don’t fit the face or the image. Obama looks at home in his own skin.
We have yet to experience the expanding depth of Obama, in my view.
March 20, 2008 at 8:05 am
Shayne – I have to agree with your statement about shoe shining. All during the Bill Clinton administration, I felt that the attacks on Hillary were unfounded. Now, I feel very differently about her. There was a time that I felt I could get behind her, not anymore. All the whining and manipulation by her and her campaign has turned me away from her, very far away from her. If she had taken the high road, I wouldn’t feel so repulsed by her.

and then, on the other hand, you get this:
Media interest in the stained blue dress begins anew
[...]
Left with little relevant news, major outlets aimed lower and ran with irrelevant news. Consider this bizarre report from the ABC News “Investigative Unit.”
Hillary Clinton spent the night in the White House on the day her husband had oral sex with Monica Lewinsky, and may have actually been in the White House when it happened, according to records of her schedule released today by the National Archives.
It wasn’t just ABC; the lead item this morning on CNN’s political blog was this AP item: “Hillary Clinton was in the White House on a half dozen days when her husband had sexual encounters with Monica Lewinsky, according to the first lady’s calendars released Wednesday.” The report goes onto list every single Lewinsky liaison, and where Hillary Clinton was at the time.
These reports are cheap, tawdry, and absurd. By what rationale is this considered important? How does an editor or producer justify humiliating a presidential candidate for no reason?

Not only did Barack Obama write that speech, he gave it without referencing notes more than once or twice, or not at all, as far as I could tell.
When was the last time der chymperor did that?
Speech class at Yale?
March 20, 2008 at 12:16 pm
Ah, but Frank Luntz said he read it off of a teleprompter – and did a poor job of it. (The Daily Show showed the clip.)
What would you give to hear a speech that Chimpy McCodpiece wrote? I would absolutely love it. Comic relief for days on end. Stewart would be set with material for the remainder of his life.
What sad times we live in.
March 20, 2008 at 12:19 pm
Hi Katy, I’d say Hillary is as responsible for Bill getting oral sex and Obama is for the things his minister said. The media tells us what we should think is important and the people, like lambs to slaughter, believe it. What Obama’s pastor said is horrible, but the right wing religious leaders who blamed 9/11 and hurricane Katrina on homosexuals and abortion get a free pass.
March 20, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Hi MJ. The last speech Chimpy “wrote” himself was when he was tap dancing on the front steps of the White House waiting for McCrazy to show up late. Please, Gene Kelly’s widow is still trying to get over that.
