It’s 3 a.m. October 12, 2000 and there’s a crisis!

The USS Cole was attacked by a suicide bomber in the port of Aden. Seventeen US sailors were killed. The exact local time was 11:18 a.m. which makes it 2:18 a.m. in Washington. There is a good chance the phone rang, not at the White House, but this time in Chappaqua N.Y., at 3 a.m. in the morning. Read what happened and so much more on Hillary Clinton’s experience, here.

The Clinton Aides are quick to argue, that the published files are only a part of the whole picture:

“The schedules are only a guide for Senator Clinton’s time in the White House and by their nature don’t include a lot of the very kinds of things that gave her deep experience in her eight years there — calls with world leaders, impromptu meetings and strategy sessions are all omitted from the schedule,” said Jay Carson, a Clinton campaign spokesman. “And some of her greatest influence and experience was as the president’s trusted adviser — precisely the kind of thing that is invaluable but doesn’t make it on a daily schedule.”

So where are the phone logs? Where is her personal schedule? Hillary Clinton is free to publish all that to bolster her claim, that she is indeed much more experienced as Senator Obama!

Her claim, she was under sniper fire in Bosnia: Debunked!
Her claim, she was against NAFTA from the start: Not supported by her WH schedules!
Her claim: “I’m delighted to be here with Ambassador Wilson. He and I did travel together to Africa and, sort of, paved the way for the president’s trip the following year, which was historic.” Not true!

I guess she has some splainin’ to do.

  • There’s a very intriguing idea being floated by Cenk Uygur at HuffPost. Is Clinton really running for 2012 now?

And some good analysis of what her “record” while First Lady really says about her involvement, especially with those 3 a.m. phone calls.

  • “I guess she has some splainin’ to do.”

At least with Bush, his explanations were so stupid as to be laughable. It was plain he really didn’t care one way or the other whether we swallowed them.
Hillary’s sounds like she actually thinks we should believe her explanations.

  • She can explain aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanything away. Just recall her my mom named me after Sir Edmund Hillary tapdancing.

  • hillary probably was peeing when the phone wring
    understandable

  • Oh, it’s just a metaphor.

It’s important to be made aware of what’s going on quickly, but the reaction should be measured in any case.

In my study of your culture’s reaction to crisis. I think the measured response has always been justified, and more fruitful, than making decisions immediately after being awoken at 3:00 in the a to the m.
