Go Helen!!

We hear you!! Its about time somebody calls the president on his words – and his actions!
I personally think Helen Thomas is an American hero, and deserves a medal for all her years of service to the American people.

From ThinkProgress:

On April 9, ABC News reported that in 2002, President Bush’s most senior advisers approved the use of harsh interrogation tactics. Days later, Bush confirmed to ABC he “approved” of the tactics. Sadly, the media have largely ignored the story since it was first reported. Moreover, not one White House press corps reporter has raised the issue with the Bush administration…until today.

During this afternoon’s White House press briefing, reporter Helen Thomas noted that Bush “has admitted that he did sign off on torture” saying it damages “the credibility of this country.” But press secretary Dana Perino denied that the United States has ever tortured detainees and referred to testimony from CIA Director Michael Hayden as evidence:

THOMAS: The president has said […] we do not torture. Now he has admitted that he did sign off on torture, he did know about it. So how do you reconcile this credibility gap? […]

PERINO: The United States has not, is not torturing any detainees in the global war on terror. And General Hayden, amongst others, have spoken on Capitol Hill fully in this regard. […] And you can go back through all the public record.

I agree 100% Helen!! WHERE IS EVERYONE.. for God’s sake!!

  • She should get the golden shovel award for digging through all the BushitCo crap in her quest for journalistic excellence.

  • Yay, Helen! I love her. :)

  • I love Helen Thomas. She is apparently the only real journalist at the WH corps. That said, where is the rest of this? The follow up with statements of what Bush said from anyone else? (Loved the bit about reconciling the photos to the words. Do not believe your eyes! Believe what we tell you to believe! Heil Perino!) Where are the other clowns who were there to follow up with ANYTHING at all?

Gee, Dana, lovely suit. Where’d you get it?

Dana, you look great today, what did you have for lunch?

You’re looking rather blond today, Dana. Is that Clairol or L’Oreal?

The daily briefing is such a joke. Completely pointless.

  • I’ve made the observation in the past, that with the departure of Scotty McClellan, the Bush mis-administration gave up all pretense of trying to sincerely explain away it’s actions.
Tony Snow was clearly nothing more than a showman, and a paltry one at that.
And we can all guess why Dana Perino stepped up to the podium after Tony faded away.
The WH press briefing is a mockery of the citizens right to have accountability and an explanation of the actions of the leaders we (supposedly) elect.

  • I finally got a chance to watch the video this morning. Ugh.

Take a look at the first few seconds of the video, at the empty-headed cow’s body language. She calls on Helen, and then we see a little disgust on her face, while she looks Helen up and down (ew, old!), and then the moron heaves a great big sigh in anticipation of having to deal with her.

I sure hope Dana gets paid a lot for being such a clueless whore.

  • I emailed her thanking her and she responded:

Deeply grateful for those kind words-helen

  • Shayne, please post her email address or give it to Lady Z to email me…I want to thank Helen for all her service over the year’s…Thank’s in advance..Blessings

  • Z, I caught Perino’s body language, too. I thought that was priceless.

More people should make that bitch squirm. She has it far too easy.

I would love to have people throw her own words, and that of the other lying liars, back into her face. I’m not going to hold my breath, though.

  • Here’s her email address #1. Somebody posted it at TP yesterday.
    hthomas@hearstdc.com

  • Thank’s Shayne….Sorry I missed it there, been skipping through TP pretty fast lately….Blessings

  • No problem. I was just thrilled that I knew she’d read it.
