George Bush may soon regret his poor choice of words. Or, knowing George Bush, maybe not… His cheap shot (and fear-mongering tactics) directed at Barack Obama and the Democratic Party may very well come back to bite him in the ass. This man is so very short-sighted.
With great power comes great responsibility. What this man did while representing the United States of America was totally irresponsible. There can be consequences for words used carelessly or maliciously. There may well be fallout, with unintended consequences… Words matter.

Bush An “Appeaser,” Says Egyptian Press – CBS News
Egypt’s state-owned press opened fire Saturday on U.S. President George W. Bush as he arrived for talks with regional leaders at the conclusion of a five-day Mideast tour.
The newspapers, whose management are all appointed by the government, criticized Mr. Bush’s speech Thursday in front of the Israeli Knesset for being overly supportive of the Israelis and not mentioning the Palestinians’ plight.
“The Torah-inspired speech of Bush raised question marks over the credibility of the U.S. role in the Middle East,” wrote Mursi Atallah, the publisher of Al-Ahram, the flagship daily of the state-owned press. “Bush aims to do nothing but appeasing Israel.”
Mr. Bush’s tour, which included stops in Israel and Saudi Arabia, represents another effort to push Mideast peace talks forward as his time in office winds down.
In his speech marking the 60th anniversary of Israel’s founding, Mr. Bush reiterated the U.S.’s close ties to its regional ally, and dismissed the notion that the Jewish state should have to negotiate with its armed adversaries.
A front page editorial in Al-Gomhouria, another Egyptian state-owned daily, described Mr. Bush as “a failed president who delivers nothing but a lousy speech.”
Akhbar Al-Youm also on Saturday published a picture of Mr. Bush hugging Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and captioned it “lovers.”
The paper also ran a front page cartoon showing an Egyptian peasant consoling President Hosni Mubarak for having to meet with “this burdensome guy who will be leaving soon,” in reference to Mr. Bush.

Let the failure end? What an idiot.

Very interesting. In this sense Bush really is an appeaser. To take a political shot across the Atlantic from Israel is beneath the dignity of the president. This guy’s on Karl Rove auto pilot.

Also meant to say this may be the first time I’ve ever agreed with a state-run newspaper’s assessment of anything. Cartoons here — http://spinachflame.wordpress.com/

I submitted a post to ThinkProgress a few moments ago, only to have it held for moderation. Can anyone tell me what is objectionable enough to stop its posting?
This has happened to me before, and has with others. No word from them as to why. Here is the post in response to crusty old bastard. Let me know what you all think.
#8 Crusty Old Bastard Says
Great breakdown and analysis.
You query:
I cannot fathom why any responsible journalist or thinking individual would ever consider making such a statement.
It would appear that many of us suffer the fantasy you have just exposed. The anger, but mostly frustration, we have been enduring has made these last 7+ years seem like forever. There are more than a few of my friends who can not accept what the American public has been signaling in ever growing strength since 2006. Witness the Mississippi election recently. They still talk as if there is no hope of changing the devastating course we have been on. The Rovian smear machine will destroy the Dems in November, the Dems in Congress who have no spine, it is impossible to win against Diebold, the coming catastrophic “next 9/11″ that the neocons will create, an attack on Iran. All sorts of “reasons”. Pessimism runs deep and the cynics rule the day. It is like they feel like they are in a prison with no way out… Even though the door is unlocked.
Your query is accurate. No THINKING person would think this way, whether they be a journalist or not. But the journalist has a much greater responsibility to be a thinking person, granted his job as a member of the 4th estate that guards us against, and informs us, of those who would do us harm. That derogation by the 4th estate, now controlled by corporate interest, is the great sin here. Thankfully, the internet has stepped in to replace the corrupt (the retired general/Pentagon scandal for instance) and ineffective conventional media.
One thing appears very apparent. The neocon/”conservative” “reign” is over, and a new dawn is rapidly approaching. We have a lot of work to do, but it is doable, and compared to these last years, it will be a joy to participate in.
January 20, 2009… The End of an Error

“Egypt’s state-owned press opened fire Saturday on U.S. President George W. Bush”
How embarrassing for Bush! The ME should we welcoming the “great liberator” with a 21 gun salute. Yet here they turned his own words against him. The blatant subtlety is really funny! Despite the bad reputation the US seems to have, I really believe the anger felt is now really directed at Bush and the administration rather than at the US people. Come January 20, I will predict the world will begin to change its animosity toward this country.

Just guessing merlin but I believe it could be because analysis contains “anal” and that along with “bitch” are two words that get you sent to moderation at TP.
Here things tend to go to moderation if they have links in them just because that what our version of Word Press does.

merlin, any sort of ‘now controlled by corporate interest’
can strike fear into the TP moderators.
Complete chickenfeces.

Thanks Shane,
I had not even considered that! I hate to bastardize words to get them past the sensor (reality, free speech and all) but if I have to call TP a$$ like this I suppose I will.

What’s all this talk about anal bitches?
May 17, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Thanks RUCerious,
Yeah you may have nailed it here! Funny, but I don’t see that statement as so terrible (but then, I believe it is true). In the last few days we have seen threats to our posters by that gun nut troll, which seem to be “A OK” with TP. Sort of ‘hey that is no concern of ours’ while a corporate remark is a big concern. Me thinks it should be the other way around.
I guess one might assume that TP is part of that corporate system that I trashed. They certainly are seriously DLC, which showed in their early unhappiness with any anti-Hillary remarks. Their claim of “non-partisanship” always sounded bogus to me.

Well, now that you ask, here is an interesting thought on that. (Note: Hillary lovers beware of reality check in this article by Barbara Erinreich.)

Fukuyama should focus less on chimps and more on bonobos!
So should we all! Bonobos don’t fight, they have sex instead. (This is a secret the fundies heads will explode over.) In fact if we were to take all the negative emotions (fear, shame, guilt etc.) out of sex the churches and the corporations would have a hell of a time selling their ideas and products. Their success is built around restricting joy and then claiming they hold the key to happiness. All you need to do is break out your wallet and poof, you’re in heaven.
