WASHINGTON - Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman John “Jay” Rockefeller (WV), Senate Intelligence Committee Vice-Chair Kit Bond (MO), House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD), and House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (MO) announced today that a bipartisan compromise has been agreed to that will modernize the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.
The FISA Amendments Act, H.R. 6304, will increase the nation’s security by strengthening the ability of the intelligence community to conduct lawful surveillance of terrorists, as well as protect constitutional rights by requiring warrants before the government can surveil any American.
“This bipartisan bill balances the needs of our intelligence community with Americans’ civil liberties, and provides critical new oversight and accountability requirements,” said Hoyer. “It is the result of compromise, and like any compromise is not perfect, but I believe it strikes a sound balance. Furthermore, we have ensured that Congress can revisit these issues because the legislation will sunset at the end of 2012.”
Ummm, they caved on immunity. It is now officially OK for a private company, on the request of the executive to violate our Constitution and break the law. There will be no penalty.

And people keep asking me why I spent so much time on my computer sending email’s to prevent this….Well…Guess I should be like all my neighbor’s, don’t know about anything, don’t vote and just muck around trying to survive….Hell, it didn’t make a damn bit of diffrence because all these people are corrupt…Only a hand full are honest and like me they aren’t winning anything either…
My neighbor sent me a cute email, think I will make it work for me..It’s a cute puppy and it say’s “Be like a dog, if you don’t like it piss on it”…Sorry for the rant and being pissed off but oh well, y’all know me…..Later….Blessings

I’d like to take this opportunity to say to the Democrats in our government today: Fuck You for caving yet again.
This is proof that you are nothing but enabling pieces of shit. You care not for your constitutes or for the country. You care about your power (whatever that may be) and you are equally as responsible for the destruction of our country and equally in the crimes this administration has committed.

I agree completely, MsJoanne.
How could the Democrats compromise on telecom immunity, when the country has been screaming at them to not allow it? The president broke the law and violated the constitution, and so did the telecoms who helped him do it. They knew it was illegal, and if their lawyers were worth anything at all, they would have advised their clients that the president’s assurances that they wouldn’t be prosecuted were no good. Qwest knew it was illegal and unconstitutional, and they refused to help. Naturally, this childish, petty, immature president made sure they paid for it by losing government contracts.
If the Democrats want everyone to think they’re better than the Republicans, then they should stop doing what the Republicans want done. Otherwise, there truly is no difference between them.

Just got back from venting with a friend and tomorrow I’m dumping every dem. site and polatician that doe’s not or has not voted for the constitution and the people.Screw them..I’ll vote against them and write in where I can or not….
My friend is in his 40’s and said to me “I thought I had more time before it turned into a police state.” I said ” I never thought it would happen after nam but here we are”….He just baught a new gun today, I’m working on my new one as I write….Blessings all..Better start hording food, water and petro….
