Copy of an earlier comment with additional stuff:

Muse, I’ve got a link for you. So all we need to do is open up lands and drill drill drill right to get prices down at the pump. The market will work if we let it right?

    Guess what the market’s doing?

The market is exporting record amounts of gasoline, diesel and other distillates…..

And then look at refinery utilization (from an article on the Oil Drum):

    http://www.theoildrum.com/node/4255

Oil refineries exporting a record quantity of gasoline and at recent year-on-year lows for utilization so that they are creating a shortage….. WTF?

Goes back to my thesis that the oil belongs to the taxpayer *only* as long as no one digs it up. Dependency on ‘foreign oil’ – all oil is ‘foreign’ once it is on the market. That oil in ANWR? Those tankers will make a sharp right turn out of Prince Willy Sound (that’s your other right, Captain Hazlewood) and sail to China depending on who shalls out the right price.

  • Thanks Terry. I posted it.

  • “Let us rid ourselves of the fiction that low oil prices are somehow good for the United States”

    - whoring for the oil companies for over thirty years!

  • When Bush took office, gas was $1.46.
