The video of Tony Perkins and Lisa Bloom is no longer working, I apologize. I found several others on Prop 8, Rush Limbaugh who is spouting the same rhetoric as Tony Perkins. Rush is being a jerk as usual!

Bill Maher and Panel discuss Prop. 8
“The arc of history shows that governments which serve their own people, survive and thrive. Governments which serve only their own power, do not.”
President Barack Obama during an address in Moscow at the New Economic School, July 07, 2009.
H/T - HoR
"The Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights––are not simply words written into aging parchment. They are the foundation of liberty and justice in this country, and a light that shines for all who seek freedom, fairness, equality and dignity in the world."
President Barack Obama during a speech, May 21, 2009.
“Suppressing ideas never succeeds in making them go away.”
President Barack Obama during a speech, June 4, 2009.

Creationism should not be taught in school because it is not based in fact. Creationism is a strictly a religious belief and religious beliefs only have a place in church. This is where the separation of church and state is imperative.

I don’t understand why these evangelical leaders go to such an extreme when it comes to this issue. It is not affecting them in any way, what is so wrong with seeing people happy?
November 8, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Only the “right sort” of people are supposed to happy, Freb.

If “teh gay” makes them feel all icky, squirmy, but ever so intrigued, that means it’s bad.

An aside: the religious zealots are now playing the “victim game”: wondering why the backlash and “name calling” i.e.: “bigot”, “homophobe”, etc.
These pro 8 people just can’t fathom why, having taken away someone’s rights, they should be targeted for such tongue lashings.
An interesting aspect to the Propositions, in CA, is that our Proposition 4 parental notification for teens wanting an abortion. It went down to defeat. This is the third time, in four years, the religious/anti-abortion kooks have tried this.
Sorry for prattling on – my point: the Pro Hate/8 keep saying “the voters have spoken” that marriage is between a man & a woman. Yet, on the defeat of “parental notification” the nuts won’t take no for an answer.
Californians will not stand for this hatred and discrimination to remain in the state constitution – there are protests up and down the state.
We’ve taken it to Utah – over 2,000 protesters stood outside the LDS/Mormon church in SLC. The church spokesperson doesn’t know why the Mormons were singled out?! (guess pouring all that money into taking away peoples rights doesn’t register with these folks – did they think Californians were just going to say “ok we give up”?
No way! No how!

I know what you mean, Zooey
I hope Lisa Bloom is right and they can win this in a court of law. This is really a sad situation, especially for all the couples that just got married this year.

Lisa would be a great one to take this on at the federal level. I’m no legal expert, but the wording of the 14th Amendment sure looks like it applies to everyone — including the LBGT community.

The video was gone. Thom Hartman was saying yesterday that it was Mitt Romney supporters throwing all that money into Prop 8 trying to show the Evangelicals what he can do for them in 2012. Also, he was saying that it is the Romney people who were hired by McCain after he dropped out who are telling the tales on Palin to keep her from being the front runner. Not that the stories aren’t true just that it’s not McCain loyalists telling them but Romney’s. I guess it all makes sense.

Tony Perkins is flat out wrong. Period. He is of the same mold of people who held on to the idea that the Earth was flat, long after it was proven not to be so. He is of the same mold of people who held on to the idea that the Sun revolves around the Earth, long after it was proven not to be so. And he will continue to believe that the Earth is less than 10,000 years old long after it has proven not to be so.
Why his opinion matters is a mystery to me. If he can’t stake his beliefs in reality, then his opinion should count for nothing.

Video not working, or I’m sure I would not have been so generous to him.

I’m trying to find a replacement, for some reason it says it is no longer available. Sorry Wayne
November 8, 2008 at 7:52 pm
That’s okay with me, FR. I have heard that useless jerk speak before and, as I said, if I listened to him again, I would not have been so kind to him.
November 8, 2008 at 7:57 pm
Thanks Wayne
I found Rush Limbaugh’s and he sounds almost like Perkins so I put him up. One that wasn’t available earlier, but is now is Bill Maher’s so I put his up also.. That one is a very good discussion.

Well, thanks to nwmuse’s inspiration, I’ve already treated Rush to his own parody, but he may be worth watching to see if he inspires more.
I laughed at the examples of projection Rush displayed in that short clip. “The Left is only interested in winning.” No, Rush, you fat, dithering slob, the Right is only interested in winning. The Left is interested in behaving like human beings toward one another. Try it some time, Rush. You’d be surprised what it can get you.
