UN Official: Clear evidence Rumsfeld ‘ordered torture’

I am sorry to post two videos in a row, but this one is important.

Raw Story

United Nations “Special Rapporteur on Torture” Manfred Nowak told CNN’s Rick Sanchez that the U.S. had an “obligation” to investigate whether Bush administration officials ordered torture. Nowak believes that there is already enough evidence to prosecute Donald Rumsfeld.

“We have clear evidence. In our report that we sent to the United Nations, we made it clear that former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld clearly authorized torture methods and he was told at that time by Alberto Mora, the legal council of the Navy, ‘Mr. Secretary, what you are actual ordering here amounts to torture.’ So, there we have the clear evidence that Mr. Rumsfeld knew what he was doing but, nevertheless, he ordered torture.”

  1. Also admission from Bush that HE approved. Also from Cheney.

Now,all these bastards think that because they redefined what was understood by legal precedent (as well as official operational practice, in the Military Code of Justice for instance) as torture by renaming it “harsh interrogation techniques” they ergo cannot be charged with torture.

How can they possibly think that they can get away with this argument? Well’ they’ve had a lot of help from the mass media who have in there usual irresponsible, dimwitted fashion actually chorused the false argument by maintaining confusion through never ever actually addressing the claim made by the Joint Chiefs of Torture which is spectaculary simple and goes as follows:

“We asked a couple of lawyers [entirely dependent on BushCo for their salaries and benefits] and they said it was legal, ergo it’s legal.”

One doesn’t need to be Johnathan Turley to knock this argument on its ass:

A LAWYER’S OPINION DOES NOT DETERMINE LEGALITY!!!! IT IS NOT A STATUTE, A COURT RULING OR A JUDGMENT BY JURY !!!

If these guys were so sure of their position they could have at least argued it in front of a panel of judges, >i>in camera if necessary. But they didn’t.
And the MSM has been perfectly happy to simply repeat their ridiculous claims and wring their tiny little hands over which if any of the “harsh interrogation techniques” might or might not be what some people may or may not consider to be possibly torture.

Christ the bobbleheads are quick enough with their opinions when a child gets beaten! Hey, if the kid doesn’t suffer major organ failure, isn’t it really just ordinary parental discipline for bad behaviour?
