My Prez...
I’m pretty sure this is from punditkitchen.com, so due credit to them.
The chimps took the week off, so a family of lemurs is filling in. Drink orders, nibbles — do lemurs have opposable thumbs? — this promises to be our regular nightmare.
Heard any good jokes? Bad jokes? Smartass comments? Personal gripes? Puns?
Post ‘em here. Enjoy!

Great picture. I love it.
Does “who has two thumbs amd likes blow jobs” count as a good joke? It is sort of a visual…
I think lemurs do have opposable thumbs. Our staff appears to be ready to go to work.
I do a physical anthropology course when I lived in Seattle and fell in love with prosimians. Monkeys and apes are fascinating, but there is something extremely appealing about lemurs, tarsiers, and one of my favorites: the slow loris.
I know the answer to that one, dbadass.
gummitch,
Is there a Fast Loris, too?
Damn, this is a hopping party.
I’m back to the books for a little while — and listening to the neighbors yell at the top of their lungs that one of their number is a birthday boy. Must be a 21st…
Y’all must have gone out an gotten lives while I had my nose in a book. **sniff**
Hi, Zooey. Jane and I were just checking out that idiot, suzysmom, at TP. How ya doin’, my friend?
Hi, Zooey! Are you kidding, where would Wayne and I find lives?
Gummitch, thanks for the links, I love lemurs.
I’m here. Doing Saturday night on PBS. They threw me a curve tonight. Replaced “Waiting For God” with a new, old show called “Last Of The Summer Wine”, which the BBC calls the world’s longest running sitcom. It began in 1973. This one was from the first two years, because Michael Bates, the main character, was only in the first two “series”.
I’ve learned the Brits refer to the number of years a TV show has been aired, as the number of “series” in the history of the show. This show has been on over 30 series.
As Time Goes By bloopers. I couldn’t find any other clips.
Not quite like the regular show but at least you can see the main characters.
Hi, House. We’re just jumping around the internets (okay, between here and TP), watching the Game Show Network. How romantic.
And how are the Schneiders this evening?
What’s on the GSN?
HoR,
Game Shows.
Mrs RUC and I just cleaned Jayden up from a precious pee a fountain and have it come down on his face. Jeez, you’d think we’d learned the cover it up trick after getting sprayed a few times.!
Well, I figured that, Walt!
LINGO. Newer episodes where Chuck goes it alone. Tonight’s contestants are not exactly MENSA material, if you catch my drift.
Ah, the joys of fatherhood I’ve heard so much about, RUC. I hope you and your family are doing fine. Good to know the peepee maker works.
Yo ! Wayne, father hood is all it’s cracked up to be. again. Havin fun chillin with afternoon naps.
Oy, these contestants are pathetic.
RUC, I think I’ll stick with cats. Not that I haven’t had to clean up thousands of messes over the years, come to think of it…
Well, I can certainly get behind the afternoon naps part. I’m pretty sure Jane could, too.
It’s a joy I have chosen not to know, as they say, “for the sake of the children”. I do not have the patience to deal with raising a child, and I know that. So I decided not to inflict a poorly-raised kid on the world. I know it’s not all bad, and that there are many, many great moments you wouldn’t give up for anything. But I know that I would likely have killed them long before those moments got to come. So I thought it best not to have them in the first place. I dont know if I’m being irresponsible, but I know I’m not in jail, either.
But that’s just me.
That’s a smart decision, Wayne. I know several folks who could have benefited from such wisdom, and are now raising kids, poorly…
Aside from that, are we enjoying the Obama era yet?
What the hell’s the deal with giving in to the repukes on the stimulus bill, to have them repay the favor with a shutout?
Why would’nt the dems put all the stuff they negotiated out right back in???
Yeah, RUC, we knew before we got married that we weren’t good parent material. Since my brother is married to Wayne’s sister, their kids are as close to having our own as we could get.
I think that a lot of Democrats are feeling the same way about the stimulus bill, and I thought that I had read that some of the stuff that was cut may be put back in. Or maybe I’m just dreaming. But I’m definitely enjoying the Obama era, simply because he’s not Bush or McCain. He’s at least starting to reverse some of the wrongs of the Bush admin, but in my opinion he’s definitely trying too hard to appease the Rs.
They should, RUC. They should just put it all back and say “Screw you” to the Republicans. There is absolutely, positively, NO point in giving into anythign they want, because they aren’t going to vote for the final bill anyway. And I believe that the real reason the Republicans will fight this bill tooth and nail is not just because Corporate America won’t benefit as much as the Republicans would like, and not simply because the poor and middle class will benefit more than the Republicans would like, but because it might actually work, and people will finally believe us when we say the Republican way of doing things just doesn’t work.
I don’t mind me a bit of appeasement, negotiation, meeting in the middle. But when you give, then get stonewalled, you take back your giveaways and raise the ante next hand.
Well, that’s the thing, RUC. It is obvious now that they are not negotiating in good faith. So why take anything out of a bill that’s going to pass without them? All you end up with is a bioll that doesn;t do as much good as you wanted it to do? And when i say “good”, I mean the good of the people, not the wealthy few (which, as should be clear now, is all the Republicans want to do.)
There’s something about the idea of “loyal opposition” that I need someone to clarify for me. To whom or to what are they being “loyal”?
As far as I’m concerned, the only “negotiating” they should do with the Republicans is advice on how best top use the money in the areas the Democrats want to use it. Should we invest more in infrastructure or education? Should we raise the Earned Income Tax Credit or raise money for low-income heating assistance programs? That kind of negotiating. Not giving up infrastructure spending in exchange for tax cuts for the rich. BTW, some complained that they voted against the bill because there wasn’t enough being spent on infrastructure, after they complained that too much was being spent on infrastructure. They are opposing just for the sake of oppsing, not because there’s some “principle” at stake. There can’t be any principles at stake because they have none!
I guess I should consider re-writing my Zoo bio. Someone said I was a wingnut, and a “faggot, too. right?” I didn’t know they could get that impression from that silly thing I wrote. I’m not even sure if any of it is true!
The thing I find the most frustrating with the positions the Republicans are taking, is they keep saying certain kinds of spending won’t stimulate the economy. ALL spending stimulates the economy, because it puts money in peoples’ hands and then THEY spend it. Certain kinds of stimulus does give more effect than others, and tax cuts give the least. The wealthier the person getting the tax cut, the less it stimulates. The most effective is food stamps and extra unemployment compensation.
What I want to see them do, is get some money to the states, because their unemployment funds are drying up, and some (Calif.) are not going to be able to issue tax refund checks right away. You know everyone in dire straits is going to file their taxes early to get their refunds. Then there’s Bush’s last stimulus, which was an advance against 2008 federal tax refunds, so people are getting back $600 less than otherwise.
Ah hell, I missed the party! Damn!
Zooey,
But early to bed will make you wise!
Well, we were kinda busy responding to the crazy lady at TP. What a maroon!
Well, Jane and I stepped out to watch a movie. Then this asshole over at TP started insulting the hell out of me. Maybe it’s because I called her insulting and ignorant, but, to be fair, she was. Or maybe it’s because I don’t take someone else’s religion problem as seriously as she does. Or I’m a nazi. Or a skinhead. But, if by insulting me I made her happy, then I’ve done my good deed for the day.
Good night all. Tomorrow should be a fun day for me. And you know how sarcastic us New Yorkers can get.
Yeah, the crazy McCain lady’s daughter from the Mid-West.
Love the pic of Obama there. So cool, so exact, so crystal clear.
