When my Congressman came to my town before the 2008 elections, I confronted him about why the Dems weren’t holding Bush and Cheney accountable. He said they weren’t going to pursue it because they didn’t have the votes to impeach. I told him that was no excuse, but I don’t think he cared. I guess it’s time to start writing letters again.
We DON’T want a “Truth and Reconciliation Commission”, we want investigations by the Justice Dept, criminal charges to be filed, trials, and convictions for the people in the Bush Administration who ordered the illegal conduct. People who foloowed the illegal orders can be admonished and, in exchange for testimony, be let off the hook. But the people at the top, the ones who ordered that the law be violated, need to be in prison. (And take away their government pensions, too.)
