  1. Politics is about lying, Palin will lie her butt off, you betcha, if it gets her what she says God has promised her.

I don’t really see the equivalence here. Obama is a ‘legitimate target’, Palin’s daughter isn’t.

    • Obama’s children are not legitimate targets for Palin, any more than Palin’s children are legitimate targets for Letterman.

      That’s the point, TtT.

  2. Randi Rhodes is doing a rundown on all the jokes made about the Palin girls that went off without complaint, there’s so many I can’t recall any single one, but it was all the late night talk show hosts, not just Letterman.
When she needed all those talk shows to get in front of the public, she didn’t care what they said in their monologues.

  3. Well Zoo, I didn’t see Bible Spice going after Obama’s children that their dad was a terrorist-paller. She went after Obama that he was a terrorist-paller.

And my point was that Palin lying about Obama was politics, cheap, dirty, but still politics. Letterman going after Palin’s daughter was a poor choice.

    Still don’t see the equivalence.

  4. TtT,
Sarah Palin breeds like a house fly and pays about as much attention as same in the birth and rearing of her children. While Letterman was in poor taste in his remarks, Sarah had had no justification in her indignation.
I might add I view this toon as not in the best of tastes, but, then, I do not argue with the management.

  5. TtT, My point on the ‘toon was that Palin’s indignation is justified but her playing it out with her insistence that Letterman apologize to the world for his poor taste was beyond reasonable. I believe Letterman clearly did not mean Palin’s 14-year old daughter and Palin’s tying it to statuatory rape and alluding that Letterman could be a pedophile was ludicrous. Letterman did stand up and apologized on national TV twice.

My point with Palin and Obama’s daughters might be a stretch but it’s to make the point that she is a liar and could care less about what she throws out into the public arena and who she hurts by doing so. Plus, her lies about Obama and terrorists were beyond anything acceptable in politics. They had repercussions and stoked up a lot of hate.
I respect your opinion on ‘toon and appreciate you criticisms.

  6. Well Palin called Letterman a pedophile which he is not. Everybody who heard the joke the first night which I did knew he was talking about the 18 year old daughter. Palin targets people so maliciously that she encourages violence against them. People in the media should henceforth ignore her completely. It’s what she deserves.

  7. What I got from this is Caribou Barbie has a serious problem separating politics from reality. While her palling comments weren’t directed at the Obama kidlets, they did have to hear them. The fact she has repeatedly drawn her family into the spotlight for her own political ambitions displays a clear disconnect with the concepts of family values.

When you set yourself (and your kids) up as targets for jokes, it is hard to feel sympathy when the comedians take a shot.

  8. Ah Paul, I see where you are going with that. You might have one or two more cartoons in there somehow that would hit the target. Palin’s hypocrisy is the real subject here, isn’t it?

Med hits the spot. It’s all about Palin, everything is about her. Everything else is a tool.

    • She milked this for all it was worth. She zeroed in on Letterman because of what he did to John McCain. There were PLENTY of other comedians who made the same (and worse) jokes about her family, and she did nothing. Why Letterman? Duh…
