The Watering Hole: October 23 – Suffrage

This is our open thread. Please feel free to offer your own comments.

This is Women’s Suffrage Day. In 1850, on this date, the first call for women’s rights occurred. In 1915, women marched on Fifth Avenue on this very same date for equal rights. Finally, in 1920, women gained the right to vote in federal elections with the approval of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

  1. oops I see you are already on top of that. Hey I work late. give me a break…Oh and if anyone needs any king salmon.

  2. Ann Coulter’s reason for women not voting was that Republicans would win all the elections. Then there are the Talibangelicals who don’t think women should have any rights.
I wonder if there have been any studies done on the effect of the women’s vote in the period during and after the Depression.

  3. Bill Moyers has the investigator of war crimes by Israel in Gaza. He is a South African Jew, admits to being a Zionist, yet he exposed numerous war crimes committed by Israel against the civilians in Gaza. A very condemning report.

  4. That is a good show too, on Frontline.

PBS sure has gotten better since Congress got back in Dem control.

    Goodnight too Zooey!
