gummitch, I got a free slice of the most wonderful New York cheesecake with lunch. I can die happy now (and I think I felt one of my arteries hardening over).
I’ll see what I can do about the free margaritas.

In honor of your birthday, (and temperatures in the 60s with low humidity), I cleaned my yard for you. I even had two neighbors tell me how good it looked!
(I think they were trying to encourage me to do it more often.)
November 3, 2009 at 3:19 pm
I’ve been meaning to talk to you about your yard, House.
This is really the ideal time to be in the south — when the humidity is low.
November 3, 2009 at 3:24 pm
For you , Zooey
November 3, 2009 at 3:25 pm
I have been sort of caught with my pants down with regard to party snacks. Give me a minute and I think I can pull something together…
November 3, 2009 at 3:25 pm
HoR,
Were they happy to see the Katrina debris go to the dump?
November 3, 2009 at 3:29 pm
Shrimp. Better go with shrimp. Ever have pepper shrimp Birthday Girl?
November 3, 2009 at 3:34 pm
Walt,
Actually I think some of it was left over from Opal in ‘99.
Now I can’t get my dumb foot to stop cramping.
I could sure use MSNBC right about now! Blitzer is making me ill, and the sound is off.
November 3, 2009 at 3:36 pm
Dbadass, don’t say “pants down” and “party snacks” in the same sentence!
November 3, 2009 at 3:43 pm
Thank you, 5th!
Now let me get this straight….are you wishing me a happy birthday?
November 3, 2009 at 3:49 pm
I’m with you, House. That was kinda hard to resist.
I have not had a pepper shrimp, db, and likely never will. Sorry.
November 3, 2009 at 3:51 pm
Zooey,
the clue is in the constant repetition of words that rhyme with ‘crappy smurf hey!’
November 3, 2009 at 3:57 pm
Shit
I opted not to go with the king crab for obvious reasons but I thought I might be able to squueze the shrimp by. Will fresh guac work? I am sort of lite on ingredients. Maybe some fried eggplant stacks….
November 3, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Just wanted to make sure I was clear on that, 5th.
Thanks!
db, the guac sounds wonderful — the eggplant, no so much. Sorry about the shrimp, it doesn’t like me — so I don’t like it more.
November 3, 2009 at 4:34 pm
ok, just what might be considered pants down party snacks?
November 3, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Since fish seems to be verboten how about a nice blackened tenderloin of beef (medium rare) in a black cherry/rum sauce with a bit of nutmeg?
November 3, 2009 at 4:41 pm
That sounds amazing, Med.
November 3, 2009 at 6:29 pm
Hey again, Birthday Girl!
Med, that sounds divine. Why is it that we have so many great chefs at the Zoo? I’m feeling quite inadequate.
November 3, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Zooey,
If I could make you a birthday dinner, it would be beef tenderloin (cooked to your preference) topped with bernaisse sauce accompanied with a side of fresh baby spinach sauteed in garlic and olive oil, garnished with freshly grated parmessan cheese.
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year to you.
Theresa
November 3, 2009 at 7:28 pm
P.S. Zooey, I’d serve the meal with a 2009 Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale IPA. Why cut calories now?
November 3, 2009 at 9:49 pm
OMG Theresa, you’ve made me weak in the knees. That sounds like a wonderful birthday dinner. Thank you.
November 3, 2009 at 9:50 pm
Jane,
Since we’re not great chefs, we just have to make up for it by having sparkling personalities — and grateful palates.
November 3, 2009 at 9:53 pm
It’s been a long, but very good day, so I’m off to bed.
Thank you everyone for your wonderful birthday wishes. Don’t tell Shayne, but I think my heart grew two sizes…
Goodnight, all!
