“If the public option plan is in there, as a matter of conscience, I will not allow this bill to come to a final vote because I believe debt can break America and send us into a recession that’s worse than the one we’re fighting our way out of today. I don’t want to do that to our children and grandchildren.”

For the pigskin-challenged, I’ll explain this joke. Steve Sack, the cartoonist, is in Minneapolis, the hometown of the Minnesota Vikings NFL football team.
“On August 18, 2009, after months of speculation and negotiations, often retired Quarterback Brett Favre, who, until 2007 played for division rival Green Bay Packers, signed a two-year, $25 million deal with the Vikings. Favre is universally acknowledged to be a future hall of fame player, holding the NFL all-time record for most touchdown passes.”
“On October 5, 2009 the Vikings hosted the Green Bay Packers as Brett Favre played his former team for the first time. With a 30-23 victory, the Vikings moved to a 4-0 record. Brett Favre became the only player in NFL history to defeat all 32 current teams.”
When the teams met again in Green Bay, four weeks later, the Vikings again beat the Packers, this time 38-26.
Favre threw three touchdown passes in the first game and four in the second. No he’s not as popular in Green Bay as he used to be, hence Mr. Sack’s little joke.

Did I come close to the sentiment with the headline, House?

Your title was fine Zooey, for the NFL fans who know who Brett Favre is. I thought the link between Sack and the Vikings needed explaining for the rest.
The fun of Favre winning at Minnesota is listening to the Ed Schultz Show after each game.
