Saturday night cesspool party: Lincoln edition (a little dignity, please)

But no sex tape, thank goodness.
It’s a quiet night at the Zoo. Order up a drink, grab a handful of Twiglets, and relax.

Going “Rogue” – Republican Style
From Merriam-Webster: (pick the definition that best fits)
Main Entry: rogue
Pronunciation: \ˈrōg\
Function: noun
Etymology: origin unknown
Date: 1561
1 : vagrant, tramp
2 : a dishonest or worthless person : scoundrel
3 : a mischievous person : scamp
4 : a horse inclined to shirk or misbehave
5 : an individual exhibiting a chance and usually inferior biological variation
Buoyed to the top of best-seller lists by pre-orders from the Neo-Conservative/Christian/Anti-Obama/Teabagger coalition, Sarah Palin is “going rogue” on the American public, and, apparently, on the truth, as well.
The Associated Press obtained advance copies of Palin’s first tome, and, suffice to say, it didn’t pass the truth check:

Its Friday and the 13th! What few people realize is that most people throw caution to the winds on every other day of the year.
You too can learn to speak Tea Bag!

Slavery still exists in this world — always has. Corporate America is worried that they might not be able to profit off of slavery in the future. *sad face*

Is Blackface Ever Okay?
TDS:
Larry Wilmore says if you wake up and your black face is smudged on your pillow, it’s not OK.
The funniest part of this segment:
NC chairman Michael Steele told Roland Martin that some Republicans are afraid of him because he’s black. But Jon Stewart doesn’t think the color of his skin is the problem. “Michael Steele, I don’t think their afraid of you because you’re black. I think they’re afraid of you because of the stupid shit you say on television,” said Stewart.
I would definitely have to agree..
Carrie Prejean takes off mic during Larry King interview
Awkward…
Last night Larry King Live had on Carrie Prejean, former one-time beauty queen from California. She apparently didn’t like the questions about her secret sex tape, and lawsuit against the Miss California USA Pageant that she had just settled (after the tape came to light).
After calling Larry “inappropriate” several times, Larry took a call from a gay man who asked Prejean a question about same-sex marriage. Prejean proceeded to take off her mic and just sit there ignoring anything Larry was saying, talking to someone off the set, and refused to answer any more questions. She then put back on her mic and told King that the agreement was that there would be no callers answering questions, flashing that vacant, plastic smile.
What in the world did she think Larry King was going to talk to her about in this interview??
The least surprising moment of this interview was when Carrie Prejean named Sarah Palin as her hero. Figures.. She, like Palin, also has a new book out which she proceeded to hold up several times. Like Palin, she tried to control the interview and the questions, and tried to make herself out to be victimized by Larry when she was asked something she didn’t want to talk about. What an absolute embarrassment..
From Raw Replay:
“Why settle since you had a fight to carry on?” King inquired.
Prejean didn’t answer.King repeated: “You can’t even say why you settled?”
“Larry,” Prejean replied, “it’s completely confidential and you’re being inappropriate.”
Prejean appears to have settled after a lawyer for the organization revealed a home-made sex tape Prejean made when she was 17.
After a minute of back-and-forth exchange, King remarks, “Okay, I, uh… inappropriate King Live continues.”
It gets worse for Prejean. A caller begins a call with, “I’m a gay man and I love pageants,” and Prejean reaches to disconnect her mic.
“Did she hear the question?” King asks.
Prejean retorts, “Yeah, I think you are being extremely inappropriate right now, and I’m about to leave your show.”
UPDATE 11/13/09: Apparently Prejean’s threat to walk off the set during King’s interview was planned in advance.
Carrie Prejean, the Miss California 2009 winner who was stripped of her title after making controversial remarks opposing same-sex marriage and appearing in topless photos, reportedly threatened CNN staff with an on-air walkout on Larry King Live if King was “not nice” to her.
Prejean appeared on King’s show Wednesday night, and appeared to prepare to walk off the show when a caller identified himself as a gay fan of beauty pageants. But Tara Palmeri and Nikki Schwab at the Washington Examiner reportthat threatening to walk off the show was the first thing Prejean did when she arrived with an entourage at the CNN studios.
The Examiner reports:
Upon entering CNN’s Washington Bureau Wednesday night, the first words out of Former Miss California Carrie Prejean’s mouth to CNN news assistant Christina McAusland were, “You tell Larry if he’s not nice to me, I will get up and leave.”

The Conservative Mind
I came to ponder one day on reflection
The conservative mind and their lack of direction
I wondered how people who should be united
Would need to have guns to intimidate and frighten
It came to me quickly and so very clear
That the conservative mind is too full of fear
They fear terrorists and Marxists and socialists and such
They fear liberals who fought for their right to be nuts
They fear black men and brown men and red men and yellow
They fear gay men and lesbians who’s gentle and mellow
They fear progress that will better the life of us all
They fear truth ’cause the truth only leads to their fall
They fear teaching the public the power of knowledge
They fear all the people that made it through college
They fear that a brown girl is now in the SCOTUS
And that SCOTUS could not keep a black man from POTUS
They fear Randi and Keith and Ms. Rachel Maddow
These conservatives are even afraid of their shadow
It must be a bummer to live in such fear
To be such a coward that the truth can’t show clear
They promote war and death when they claim they’re pro life
Yet they won’t volunteer to fight in such strife
They’re wrapped in a flag with a bible for show
But will never adhere to the words that bestow
They will claim that they worship the word of the Lord
While defending the need to apply waterboard
How could we wander within eight short years
From a beacon of freedom to a cauldron of tears
Conservatives need to go back to their mantra
Before Rush and Beck and Fox propaganda
It isn’t too late for the right to repent
For the lies that they spew and their hateful intent
Conservatives seem to care more for their pets
Than the strife of our homeless or the health of our vets
They protest government intrusion in life
Unless you’re a lesbian in love with your wife
Or a gay man who just wants to be with his lover
Or a woman too weak to give birth to another
Compassion is void in the conservative mind
Where women don’t speak, they just stand behind
Their husbands that stray from their marriage vow
While claiming that they are holier than thou
So what can be said to the conservative mind
Where logic and reason has been left behind
There’s one biblical saying that will always hold true
Do unto others as they would do unto you.
Devolution
