You know you’ve failed when…
…you divorced your wife and left her out to live off benefits and she goes on to write seven books…
… you were just planning on getting laid and end up on a stage in suit and tie alongside John McCain because you’ve impregnated the governor’s daughter in the process…
Less famous fail stories here
This is our open thread, feel free to offer your thoughts on any subject here.

Let’s see, I think I’ve got a fairly famous “Fail” story with connections to this date in history. Back in 1941, an Asian military power decided to conduct a sneak attack on some islands in the Pacific Ocean where a Western military power had based some ships and planes. It seems the Asian military power thought a decisive victory in this sneak attack would result in a “short victorious war”.
That also reminds me of an American Secretary of Defense who said:
Both were epic fails.
Full disclosure: I have not had sex with nor have I taken any ‘hush money’ from Tiger Woods.
Thought I needed to get that out there.
I know it’s not music night, but this goes out to Tiger Woods…

Sorry:
Great choice Terry.. His story just keeps morphing.. I just have to wonder how his handlers kept this stuff under wraps for so long, and how many surprises are still waiting to come popping out. If his wife stays for the money then I have lost any and all respect for her as well (the $5 million now and the $55 million if she stays two more years – $80 million if she stays another 7 years and plays the dutiful wife).
Well like the kid who fronted Dell (“Dude, your’e getting a dooby!”), OJ Simpson and other celebrity endorsers too numberous to mention…. perhaps Tiger will disappear from TVs and airport banners everywhere shortly. Those Accenture wankers get up my nose anyway.
Mind you, John McEnroe is making a comeback as an endorser hamming up his appaling behaviour in the 1980s, so who knows, maybe I just picked Tiger’s jingle when he endorses Trojan next year?
Still wanted to have Preparation H use Johnny Cash and ‘The Ring of Fire’. i heard a rumour the Cash estate said: “Er, no thanks”
The Senate is about to vote on a Judd Gregg amendment to the healthcare bill that bars use of Medicare rate increases to fund programs in the bill.
The Gregg amendment failed 43 to 56.
Next up: Nelson (D) -Hatch (R) amendment to bar Federal funds from being used for abortion or for insurance plans that include abortion coverage. Debate now, voting later.
Public option likely to be removed from healthcare overhaul
I think I give up.. I will vote third party next election. Both sides are totally corrupted. ANd they know how to say the right things to get elected. Words don’t mean anything if you aren’t going to stand by them.
It’s not about the needs of the people these politicians are supposed to represent. Not sure it ever has been except for a handful of committed people who can’t do anything alone (like Dennis Kucinich and Bernie Sanders to name a couple).
If something like that gets to Obama’s desk, he’d do well to veto it.
He won’t veto it. He’ll pass anything as long as it gives him a ‘victory’ and they can call it a healthcare bill. Mark my words.
He should veto it, but he won’t.
If Obama doesn’t see this as a defeat, there is no hope for his presidency. Or average Americans.
Here’s a link to a website that will recycle Christmas lights. A friend sent this to me.

Muse – Before you vote for a third party, wait until you know where your Senator stands on the public option. Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water is all that I’m saying.
This is how really bad health insurance is… the Cleveland Clinic which is a model for how hospitals can be manager in a efficient manner has 2000 doctors on staff and 1400 people to bill the insurance companies. What a waste of money.
Keith and Ezra Klein are reporting a possible lowering of Medicare eligibilty to age 55?
That would be wonderful, House. A nice start.
Keith finished the segment talking to Johnathan Cohn, about the lack of specifics. It might only cover people with no other insurance. If it would allow me to work for any company that’ll hire me, and still have a “floor”, of some kind of insurance, I’d be better off. It doesn’t get the younger uninsured out of the ER for primary care, though, and that’s the key to all this.
It’s ridiculous to do this piecemeal. I’m sick of the whole thing.
I wonder if I could get a job in the EU…
