In a number of instances I beg to differ from the results of the Obameter. But mostly it is a good chance to revisit what was said and what was and is accomplished by your President. Everybody has his or her own expectations, especially after being starved for reasonable politics for that long before 2009.
From a distance, change looks rather impressive, which doesn’t mean that all things are going well. See “Drill Baby Drill“, which was a disappointment for me.

Note: ThinkProgress just ‘puked; for me. The site just disappeared.
Anyone else?
Yeah me too
It’s back already.
I can’t believe CNN has a countdown clock to Tiger Woods’ press conference.
EV,
Thanks for the link.
I have my issues with the distillation of the data and context, and the premise, somewhat, about campaign promises, but Politifact does pay attention and acts sincerely.
Obama’s “Drill Baby Drill” may actually be a very clever political maneuver, but I think its an unnecessary one and even of Obama thinks its a clever idea but doesn’t want to give the game away but explaining its political mechanics to the rest of us he still risks alienating his most solid supporters, whilst waiting for the intended result ( which ideally would need to come BEFORE November).
It APPEARS to be a concession made before ‘the game’ begins, like discarding “universal health care” as a negotiating point he could afford to lose during the game in exchange for something, instead of ‘exchanging’ it for nothing before the game even started. .
Good Morning (afternoon)! 5th & House,
House – a poster on TP Think Fast was stating they lived in Alabama & have yet to receive a census form.
The poster intimated many he knew hadn’t either.
Any scuttlebutt on this in your native state?
I got three census forms and mailed in one.
So, WaltTheMan, the Alabama census forms were delivered to Florida instead? ;>
We’ve received only one form – but many reminders before and since the mail out.
People who refuse to be counted crack me up. They just don’t seem to realize, in this day of electronic tracking, no matter what you do or where you go there’s some little gizmo keeping track!
Use a credit card: zap they know what you purchased. Have a drivers license: they know who you are, etc.
Mornin’ 2ebb!
I have mine – somewhere. It got stuck in a pile of mail around here. I’m not sure if I want to add to the population count of a red state. I almost asked that person where they were, but I’m a bit put off by the screenname I boiled the Easter Bunny.
I want to catch up with the Coffee Party people here when they have their next meeting. I forgot the last one on the 27th.
Sorry, I seem to have caused a bit of an uproar on TP with my yearly invitation for everyone to come over for Easter Bunny stew. In the past, it’s devolved into hilarity about ingredients like peeps, jelly beans, and chocolate eggs, but this year the trolls just turned it into a sick game. I won’t be issuing the invitation anymore.
On a bright note, I heard back from Faiz this morning, after having complained about the Pez troll and his propensity to clog whole threads with his racist bitching about Obama, and he says “it’s been taken care of.” Of course, the troll may be back already with a new name.
Excellent news, Zooey – thanks. It does get to be a bit much at time with the pez dispenser.
As for rabbit stew – no jelly beans, please.
Actually rabbit is best roasted or BBQd.
(sorry House, but rabbit is delicious prepared correctly). (hope you don’t have a pet rabbit that I’ve just insulted ) =:>
House, I watched “Rob Roy” last night. Wall to wall manly men in kilts, a bad guy with dead eyes, and some pretty hot sexy time. I might watch it again…
Thanks for the recommendation!
You are most welcome, Zooey. I was pretty sure Liam Neeson in a kilt was a winning combination, based on what I had already heard ’round here!
House, for never having met me, you know me pretty well.
Really? From what I do know, I would expect you to be much a more complex person than what one could learn, from the silliness we carry on with on here.
Well, that’s true.
I guess I meant in terms of manly men in kilts. Heh.
Liam Neeson in a kilt???!!! Where? Damn I missed it. But then I’m more a Alan Rickman fan right now. I’m listening to an audiobook (Thomas Hardy Return of the Native) read by him.
What a voice.. **drool**
I hope you all had a very good Easter, I just came back and wanted to say Hi and Bye. I need some sleep now.
Hugs to All!
EV, I could listen to Alan Rickman’s voice the rest of my life, and never get tired of it.
G’nite EV!
Picked up a little info on David Shuster, over at Democratic Underground. He’s in hot water over a CNN pilot, and he’s suspended. Ed Schultz took his place in the afternoon between 3 and 4pm EDT today. Ed’s radio show was a repeat today, at least in the third hour. Shuster’s contract is up this year.
Wow, that’s interesting news about David Shuster. MSNBC will really be messing up if they lose him.
house is a very intelligent observer of life!
It helps to have a lot of time to observe. I need time for some things to sink in. I am male, after all.
Manly men in kilts would come under the heading of surefire things that please the girls. Manly men in cocktail dresses, not so much!
Buffalo Butt really screwed up with that ‘gun’ comment! If he was real military he would have never made that mistake!
Ed Schultz’ poll question: Who is genuinely trying to make this country a better place?
President Obama 85%
Rush Limbaugh 15%
Now I just know that 15% of Ed’s real audience doesn’t believe that! Usually he gets a dissident factor of about 6% on his polls. This would have had to take some spur of the moment organizing by the dittoheads. I’m surprised they had it in them!
One of my dogwoods bloomed today! I guess the other will be out tomorrow.
I’ve started seeing daffodils around town. It’s wonderful to see a burst of color amongst all the brown.
Zooey, what was your favorite Alan Rickman role?
A riot of color – nice!

“If of thy mortal goods thou art bereft,
and from thy slender store
Two loaves alone to thee are left,
Sell one, and with the dole
Buy Hyacinths to feed thy Soul.”

Shuster started out at CNN, went to Fox, then on to MSNBC. If he’s allowed to be himself at CNN, he could pull them back to the left a little. CNN can’t compete with Fox for the Rot-wing, and they can’t match MSNBC for the left, so they really need to find a following in the middle. That’s why it ruined their viewership when Dobbs went too much to the right while claiming to be ‘Mr. Independent’. His time slot kicked off their evening shows. When his ratings started to tank, it pulled their entire evening schedule down too. They haven’t recovered. If MSNBC were to be stationed on the basic cable channels, CNN would be in real trouble. They’re already losing Amanpour to ABC, so I guess that freed up some space in their budget to hire Shuster.
I will answer for Zooey: “Truly, Madly, Deeply.”
No one reads poetry like Alan Rickman.
Wow.
Zooey, I see, I’m not alone. Even household chores have their charms with an Ipod, channeling my inner romantic teenager.
HoR, My fav with AR, I know you asked Zooey, but it’s Sense and Sensibility right now. I’m getting a little soft lately.
Death toll in West Virginia mine blast rises to 25
I remember Rachel reporting that seven were confirmed dead and nineteen were unaccounted for, when I watched her last night. I woke up to the 1AM repeat of her saying the same report, but with the chyron “25 Killed After Explosion…” underneath. Looks like four are still not found.
This what I think about when I hear the term clean coal.
