Popular throughout the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland, Sunday Roast is a lovely tradition going back to the inventions of meat and Sundays.
The Sunday roast isn’t necessarily beef; it can be chicken, turkey, pork, lamb, or even some vegetarian atrocity. Heh, no offense to vegetarians. Srsly…
The above Sunday Roast is beef, served with roasted potatoes and carrots, broccoli, salad, and a cute individual Yorkshire pudding. I must learn how to make those.
What’s for Sunday Roast at your house?

Hello Everyone!
Just greeted Cats w/chocolate “mice” at the PAEnergyFest a few minutes ago … So, today’s Sunday Roast is gourmet, local, organic, vegan Fest food from Balasia ~ I think I will start with a Bombay Burrito, chased by garlic chocolate chip cookies
What’s everyone else eating today?
Well I’m about to have a herd of folks descend upon me for a funeral tomorrow so I’m serving tacky deli trays. I guess that’s kind of pitiful, but I’m feeling lazy.
Outstanding, your grace during this time supercedes any vittle choices … Bless you and your family ~ Peace
And bless you for your kindness lass. I hope you and Cats enjoy this splendid day.
Peace and strength for you today Outstanding.
I’m sorry for your loss, Outstanding. Hopefully your ‘herd’ of folks won’t arrive empty-handed.
Peter Beinart of CUNY, had the line of the morning, when, on This Week, he called Sarah Palin, “the Republicans’ George McGovern”, because she is moving them too far to the right, for the general electorate.
This Week had Hillary Clinton and Ahmadinejad, so Christiane Amanpour could pursue her favorite subject, the Middle East. Even the roundtable had to start out with what the two interviews contained. Then they talked about O’Donnell and Palin.
Meet the Press consisted of two interviews, first Colin Powell, followed by Bill Clinton. Without going into details, both are worth watching later on MSNBC, or online. Clinton is also on Face the Nation, followed by Ed Rollins and that reichwing writer from WaPo, Michael Gershon.
Oh, almost forgot. Danica finished fifth at Motegi, Japan last night. She drove it up there, and kept it there. She was the highest finishing Andretti driver, too. Milka Duno was three laps down, and Simona de Silvestro retired early with an unidentified mechanical failure.
Thoughts are with you today Outstanding. And sending messages to your herd to bring dishes and help with the cleanup. Too bad I don’t have psychic powers huh?
I should point out how lucky I am. My husband has four brothers and three of them have wives that show up for every family gathering with two or three dishes and then help clean up. His sister though wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. She’s the bible thumping Republican of course.
Hugs to you, Outstanding.
My Rep in DC, and a so-called Democrat to boot…fucking racist. I won’t vote for Labrador, but I sure as hell won’t vote for Minnick.
Saturday Hate Mail-a-Palooza
No roast here–I’ll probably bake some fish. I did make an awesome chicken marsala last night though.
So sorry for your loss, Outstanding. I’ll be thinking of you and your family.
I saw where Palin came in 5th on the Values Voters straw poll. And I had to laugh at O’Donnell baking out of the Sunday talk shows. I saw Maher’s show on Friday–priceless! I wonder what other gems he has in store? Like he said…it’s like a hostage crisis. Until she comes on the show, he’ll keep tossing out ‘bodies’. *pops popcorn*
Hee hee, another great O’Donnell poster.
That show was awesome wasn’t it silentpawz? Michael Moore got it off to a great start.
I was saddened to hear of your loss, Outstanding…Sending Blessings today and every day to you and your family….
Nothing special here; beans, rice & corn “casserole” still left over. Feeling too lazy and “off” to make anything involving dead animals.
The boy and I are having rotisserie chicken we bought last night — on sale! Might roast the potatoes and carrots. That counts, right?
I don’t remember the last time I bought a real beef or pork roast. Too damned expensive!!
Ugh, stupid computer decided to slow to a glacial pace. I hope it lasts until graduation.
Gary, “off?” Got the blahs?
Help, I’m logged in because I’m posting here.
I posted on the Cesspool last night but now it’s calling for a password but wouldn’t accept my password. I even went to My account and changed it but I still can’t access to the comments at last night’s Cesspool.
What am I doing wrong?
Pachy, you weren’t commenting on the cesspool last night, but on yesterday’s open thread. I’ll email the password to you, using the email attached to your WP account.
Uh oh, there’s a problem with your email, Pachy. If you have a more current one you use, you can email it to the Zoo account. You’ll find the address under the “About” tab on the front page.
May have a slight bug. I’ve felt a little like I was running a fever, but nothing so striking that I even felt motivated to take my temp. (If I’m running a temp, knowing the fact won’t change it, nor will I respond to the symptoms any differently.)
The rice and beans thing is actually not bad, something of a staple for me. I throw in various odds and ends (diced onion; hot jalepeno; seasonings) so it actually has some flavor and kick. Plus, it is very easy, fairly healthy, and lasts a good long while.
Sounds yummy, Gary. I hope your slight fever turns out to be nothing.
Lass – thank you for the chocolate bunnies. Of course, they melted while sitting in the car waiting for me. Thankfully, they were in a box
Outstanding – sorry to hear of your loss. You are not being “tacky” with deli trays. May your family and friends bring you comfort at this time. Remember all the good things about your mother. It will help you through the day.
Dinner – I’m home from the Energy Fest and we will be having beef cubes from the 1/4 steer that we bought last Winter along with some veggies grilled over “cowboy” charcoal along with some stir fried tofu sprinkled with powder chipotle. It’s called a combination of left overs and something new.
“cowboy” charcoal?
That sounds like dried cow patties to me, but it must be something else.
Thanks Zooey.
Guess I’ll have to get a new gmail account since old one no longer valid. Too bad emails not forwarded by old ISP.
Might be a day or two until I do that.
At your leisure, Pachy.
The disastrous oil volcano in the Gulf has finally been killed.
Outstanding, ((cyberhug)) and wishing you pleasant memories.
Sunday roast?? hmmm…maybe something that will go with this leftover batch of fava beans….and a nice chianti…
I was the roast today, spent hours in the shop sharpening a crosscut saw.
Cooling off with a Negra Modelo and a bowl of pistachios.
No roast. Ribeye. I don’t get anything but water, however, until I assemble my new desk chair. Let’s just hope all the bits are here.
Check out the Jimmie Carter interview on 60 Minutes, or at their website later.
I still like Jimmy Carter.
Maybe even more.
He’s a real human.
Americans had been sufficiently dumbed down at that point in time that they elected a washed out movie star propped up by the military/industrial complex instead of giving James a second term.
What drove home the ignorance of privilege struck me was when the senior Bush was shown the ‘miracle’ of scanners at a super market checkout counter. He had no concept of what was going on around him.
While he had been shielded from the advances in technology on a personal basis in the years prior to 1992., one would hope that the leader of the free world would have some inkling of what was going around him. This is the man who was making decisions about weapons systems that would place scanners in the same league as mechanical cash registers.
Small wonder Bush Jr. couldn’t handle e-mail eh?
