Proof, at least to me, that Friday the 13th can be lucky. I’m guessing that this will be the first time most of you hear The Low Anthem, which is a Good Thing to experience. Music stripped to the bone.

As usual, this is an Open Thread of music. Feel free to wallow or jump in.

  1. The audio sucks on all the concert versions of this song. Anyway, the album version is the one I remember.

  3. I have not heard the Low Anthem until now … and I like what I hear … alot!

  5. If Bohemian Rhapsody caused such an uproar for Wasilla High School, does this mean that they don’t play “We Will Rock You” or “We Are the Champions” at the local hockey games? Those are classics in the sports world.

    I also can’t imagine they don’t play Gary Glitter’s “Rock’n Roll Pt.2″ at hockey games in Wasilla. The pounding of hockey sticks on the ice to the beat of this song is a mainstay in most hockey leagues. If they do play this famed song, does that mean that while a song written by a homosexual like Freddy Mercury is outrageous, songs by Gary Glitter, a man with a history of child pornography and statutory rape, are ok?

  24. That’s an old Rainbow number….. it’s the first anniversary of Ronnie’s death on Monday. I did a tribute Music Night to him last year – still have it. Didn’t play this though, nice old acoustic ballard – all Ronnie’s voice though. I’m off, I can follow and comment but not post vids on my droid :)

  29. I remember that tribute, TtT … It was very well written and came to my mind when I spoke with the guy playing Ronnie James at the carwash ~ Ebb, that would probably by my favorite Dio song too :)

  48. Another famed axeman, this opening for Die Young just seems to come so easy to Tony Iommi. His Black Sabbath sound has been imitated but never reproduced. His sound is more hellish than anyone’s, even now. Oh and then Ronnie comes out and belts out the teenage angst song….
