From the novel by Ken Kesey, a movie was made starring Henry Fonda, Paul Newman and Lee Remick. This is the house that was built for the movie, situated on the banks of the Siletz River in Oregon. Now a private residence, it backs up to the Siletz River Natl. Wildlife Refuge. As at least one of you may have guessed by now, I’ve flown the coop and landed in the Pacific Northwest, where I’m presently salmon fishing, exploring, and enjoying the good graces of the Zookeeper at the little house on the hill. I’ve made some new friends down on the bay as well…

…sometimes a great notion indeed.

Gorgeous pictures, Raven. I’m glad you’re settling in so nicely.
The harbor seals are a riot. While very wary, they also appear somewhat curious about the kayak. After I pass, they will sneak up behind me, very close, then slap their tails. One went under the boat today. Rather unnerving.
Reverse migration! That’s the way to go!
Heh. I’m enjoying the moisture and the extra oxygen at sea level. It’s wonderful to be in an environmentally conscious place where recycling, electric car charging stations and DEQ regulations are the norm. Today on the bay I was tagged as “fishing green” as I paddled out of the moorage.
The pastries out here are fantastic!
