TYT: Cenk blasts Chuck Todd on shoddy journalism!

Cenk is angry that “Chuck Todd reiterated three Republican talking points, while pretending to be neutral.”  “It is a Republican talking point to say we have different legal opinions here, what are you going to do prosecute people for having difference of opinion on the law?”    “Not hey it is a clear violation of the law, we have the War Crimes Act and torturing and waterboarding are clearly illegal.”  “We ignore that.”

Cenk takes issue with Chuck Todd’s assertion that “this is all politics it is not a matter of law or that a crime was committed here.  No this is a hard left verses hard right.”  “Did Chuck Todd check any of his facts before he came on and said that?”  “No he just came on said it.”

“Here is an interesting number, 44% of Republicans say, there should either be a criminal investigation of the possible torture by the Bush Administration or an investigation that involves independent counsel.”

To bad the MSM doesn’t hire Cenk to replace say Morning Joe or Wolf Blitzer! That would be an improvement :)

Joe the Plumber will not fade away!

Cenk talks about Joe the Plumber’s book deal.  The Huffington Post has the details on Joe’s book.

It seems that Wurzelbacher has secured a book deal with PearlGate Publishing. Is this for the book that he’s been touting in advance of this deal on his website? Yes, apparently! (That website has a spiffy-new early 2000′s redesign by the way, but buyer beware! The cost of a “Freedom Membership” has just gone up by a dollar!)

The book is to be published December 1st, just in time for your Christmas shopping.  For myself, not even morbid curiosity could get me to buy that book.  Cenk also found an ad that Joe the Plumber is doing for VelocityStore.com.  I agree with him, it is very cheezy.

The Young Turks: Cenk Interviews Howard Dean

Cenk was asking Dean about possible replacements for the next chairman of the Democratic National Committee.  They talk about the 50 state strategy and the choice of Rahm Emanuel.  It’s a great interview in which Cenk asks Dean policy questions also.

Olbermann World’s Worst – Frum, Gaffney, Limbaugh

Countdowns Keith Olbermann names Rush Limbaugh todays Worst Person in the World for lumping ACORN, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama into one paranoid, racist rant.

Here is the paranoid, racist rant of Rush Limbaugh that Keith is referring to last night.  I think Rush is off his meds.

On Keith Olbermann’s list is Frank Gaffney Jr., who lied about Obama’s birth certificate.  Media Matters nailed Gaffney to the wall on that one also.  Here is there summary.

Wash. Times’ Gaffney made false and baseless claims about Obama’s birth certificate, purported “ties” to Khalid al-Mansour

Summary: Washington Times columnist Frank Gaffney Jr. falsely claimed that Sen. Barack Obama “has, to date, failed to provide an authentic birth certificate which could clear up the matter” of “whether Mr. Obama is a natural born citizen of the United States.” In fact, even the right-wing website WorldNetDaily found that a birth certificate supplied by the Obama campaign is authentic.

The Young Turks – Highlights of the Week in News

A great recap of stories from all the news sources that range from sad to just plain goofy. The sad is Bush trying to talk to the American People about the Economy.  He not only can’t find the right words but is having trouble finding any words period, to express what is on his mind. Clips of Obama and McCain at the debate, where McCain calls Obama “That One”. Several Fox News clips, one with Sean Hannity being asked if he is Anti-Semitic and the ridiculous is Fox making a big deal about seeing Sarah Palin’s pores on her face on a magazine cover. Could they get anymore superficial?  Good collection of video clips and commentary from the week.

Hip Hop Republicans

I listen to The Young Turks, mornings on XM Radio. It’s a very good show, with knowledgable people who understand the issues (much closer to Rachael Maddow than Stephanie Miller).  You can watch their show online, so XM is not a requirement.

This morning, Cenk, was talking about the following exchange, which took place yesterday, between himself and two people from the group Hip Hop Republicans.  (Cenk, BTW, is a self-described ex-Republican, himself.) Be sure to watch to the end (the last minute).

Republican’s have the most interesting debating skills.  I suppose I can see why this group supports McCain in that fighting is apparently the best call to action.

Cenk’s Hip Hop Republican guest this morning was much more reasonable.  He made the case for believing in the GOP party platform, and being able to facilitate change to the Republican platform by working from within.  I can appreciate that. I do question whether they have actually read the Republican Party Platform (which now, by the way, is just a guideline and not endorsed by or for any candidate.  HUH?)

After listening to both the above segment, as well as the one on his show this morning, I think the Hip Hop Republicans sound more Libertarian than Republican. I kept asking myself why they weren’t in Minneapolis with Ron Paul instead of in St. Paul with the GOP.  The vast majority of people (attendees at the RNC) who I have heard interviewed this week, have either been hard core right-wingers or faux Libertarians.

Talk about contrasts, considering that this Republican administration has ballooned government spending and the number of employees on the governmental payroll dole (mostly through private contractors – costing the American public that much more).  I’m missing the Libertarian piece of the GOP puzzle.

But, hey, I do like Eminem.
