A whole new domain!

Welcome to https://tpzoo.wordpress.com!

It was sheer hell but I think I have everything pretty much back to normal here at the new URL. We may have lost a few minor things in the transfer, but I think that all in all, the site is fairly intact.

All administrators should make sure that their status has not been changed by this transfer. That was one of my biggest headaches, and I hope everyone is back on board.

I will delete the old URL when we are sure this one is working the way we want.

Please post and comment here from now on unless, for some reason, you are unable to.

UPDATE: So far, it looks like this new URL is working out just fine. You should be able to safely bookmark this site and link to it from elsewhere, without fear of it going the way of the last “beta” version.

Any administrator who has not already done so, please leave a brief comment on this post to let me know that you have safely arrived here.

  1. Alright, now. I’ve changed the address on my blog-roll… the Zoo is staying put for awhile now, right?

Good job, Greg. By the way, I like the “Forget-about-it”.

  2. Good morning, all!

I see a few of you have made it to the new site, and I don’t notice any comments at the old site, so it’s looking good so far.

gummitch, I wasn’t up early, but rather quite late last night. I think there’s something wrong with the time stamp on this post. It should be about 3:30 a.m. Eastern. Maybe somebody inadvertently re-activated it or something.

I’ve caught a few hours sleep, but thought I would get up and check in to see how things are going.

    Any problems?

  3. We did lose one of Doro’s comments in the transition, as she was using the old site at the same time I was trying to get the new one up and going.

I may try to cut and paste it here a little later if I get a chance.

There’s another “small” problem we may not see for a bit. Eventually, I will delete the old site to free up more space for this one (and to hide the dead site from public eyes). When I do that, we will lose any images that were uploaded directly to http:tptestblog.wordpress.com. Images stored at other locales should not be affected however.

I’m not sure if I should try to salvage the threatened images by copying them elsewhere and then re-editing the old posts to “link” to their new storage place, or if I should just let these handful of photos be a casualty of the transfer process.

I might anyway try to save the photo taken by Zooey’s son, as it is the most valuable of the images that were uploaded directly to the old site.

  4. Egg,

No worries about Zach’s photo. It took up a lot of room and I still have it on my hard drive.

If it’s going to look funny have a blank spot on the front page, I’ll get those photos on facebook and upload it again.

BTW, Doro is a chick. ๐Ÿ˜€

  5. Where did I say Doro wasn’t a chick? ๐Ÿ˜‰ (I love being an administrator).

I wouldn’t worry too much about the blank spot, Zooey. It will soon be so buried in the past that no one is likely to go there very often. You’ll also notice that older posts eventually disappear off the “front” page anyway.

  6. I’ll have to keep my eye on you, Egg. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yeah, I thought his picture was off the front page by now, so it’s not a big deal.

  7. You could always post that picture again someday, Zooey. As long as you store it offsite, it doesn’t take up any extra storage space here. Large photos just take a while to download with those ancient dial-up Internets connections. It’s the size of the pipes or something!

  8. Yeah, it took frickin’ forever to show up. Good idea about storing the pics on our facebook accounts — let them handle it!

  9. The transition process ended up being more trouble than I had hoped. I thought I could just change the URL. But no!

I had to create a whole new blog with the new URL. Then I had to export the old site to my hard drive, then import that into the new site.

Even then, I had to tweak some things. I lost Press Row and had to reactivate it. The sidebar also got all messed up. I had to manually re-enter all the links on the Blogroll.

And I had a heckuva time trying to get the rest of you back on as administrators. For the longest time, I couldn’t get WP to recognize you, but I finally figured out a method, and had to re-enter all of your e-mail addresses one by one to bring you here. I hope I didn’t overlook anyone.

  10. You’re welcome, bluedahlias. And thank you for leaving a comment here today. I’m trying to make sure everyone has safely made it to the new site, so dropping a comment helps put my mind at ease.

  11. Although this site seems to run quite a bit slower, it is so much better than the swill over at TP.
Took a peek this morning and it is ridiculous! The trolls take over with nothing! NOTHING! There truely is nothing useful going on at that site anymore. The trolls won because Admin refuses to see the problem.
Thank you guys again for making a healthy and safe place to post for all us “libtards”! lol

  12. Morning all!
I finally crawled out of bed. (I never sleep in..). The new URL works fine for me and it looks exactly the same.

  13. Egg, you’ve done so much work for us all, I almost feel guilty. We are forever in your debt, but since we’re good for nothing liberals, I don’t know what good that will do you.

    But, THANKS A MILLION.

  14. Thanks again Gregg, and don’t worry about my comment. I wasn’t anything brilliant or so. I regret sitting on the wrong side of the Atlantic, I would have cooked you dinner as a thank-you.

  15. Gregg, let me tempt you:

Roebuck stew, Bavarian-style bread dumplings and red cabbage are on tonight. And in the oven there is a beanpot, home-baked beans for tomorrow.

The smell alone alsmost killsme, I am trying to diet again and the food is for the family.

  16. Actually, Doro, you made me so hungry that I think I’m going to step away from the computer for a bit.

See you all soon! I can’t tell you how relieved I am that this site is working today.
