Obama-mania: Hottest Name In Publishing!

Obama-mania has hit the book world by storm.  As of this Sunday, Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope” and “Dreams from My Father,” both already million sellers, ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.

Both hardcover and paperback editions of “Audacity of Hope” were out of stock Sunday on Amazon.

Barack Obama’s book sales are surging even in John McCain’s state of Arizona.

“People are generally much happier this week than they were last week,” Gayle Shanks, co-owner of the Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe, said Sunday.

The book sales are not just confined to the books Obama has written either.  Sales have gone up dramatically in books about him and his collection of speechs.

Demand also has surged for “Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope,” a children’s book by Nikki Grimes, and Robert Kuttner’s “Obama’s Challenge,” a call for a sweeping, progressive economic agenda.

Also, HBO has bought the U.S. rights to a behind-the-scenes documentary on Barack Obama’s presidential campaign from actor Edward Norton’s production company.

Filming will continue through the president-elect’s inauguration, with the premiere expected sometime in the spring, the network said Friday. HBO reportedly paid at least $1 million to show the still-untitled film.

I can’t wait for this to come out next year!
