George Francis, oldest man in the US, rest in peace

Los Angeles Times

George Francis, age 112, was a man who lived in three different centuries.  As an African-American man born in New Orleans, he endured Jim Crow laws, lived through two World Wars, and witnessed a man walking on the moon.

Mr Francis had a lifelong passion for politics, and proudly voted for this country’s first black president, Barack Obama.

In an interview after Obama’s victory, Francis, who used a wheelchair, said he felt like jumping up and down. “For people who say voting doesn’t matter, I think that’s crazy.”

It is crazy.

Rest in Peace, Mr Francis.  Well done.
