  1. There is an excellent article in CommonDreams today on a couple of lectures given by Noam Chomsky:

    Noam Chomsky: No Change in US ‘Mafia Principle’

    He covers a lot of ground on our foreign policies and how we should not expect much to change with the Obama administration.

    He hammers this home:

    “There is basically no significant change in the fundamental traditional conception that we if can control Middle East energy resources, then we can control the world,” explained Chomsky.

  2. Ooh muse, I’m channeling you today. Just answered Paul on the pipeline thread – same idea.

    Chomsky is spot on. In the post Peak Oil world (Mad Max is looking like it might come true), it is going to get ugly.

    It might be a little unfair, but the Soviet Union talked of spreading ‘peace’ the same way that the US talks of spreading ‘democracy’.
