  1. That’s quite all right EV. You play some music if you like. Music night always starts too late for us to enjoy your participation unless you stay up real late.

  2. So now BP’s CEO, Tony “Heckuva Job” Hayward has seen the light. It’s now officially a catastrophe. Duh. With such keen powers of observation it’s no wonder he rose to his lofty position.

    At some point he’ll step down, and take his golden parachute with him. Maybe settle in some location beyond the reach of our extradition, on some beach that he hasn’t already destroyed.

  3. If there is a hell Hayward should rot there with his comments about minimal damage running on a loop with him sitting in the middle of a giant plume of oil.

    And that eel circling him – forever making him wondering if it is ‘friend or foe’.

    Flashback for The Warrior! Great song to start the day!

  5. My niece and nephew have no school today so we’re headed out to do some birding by the Bay~!~

    Hope to make music night. House, will you be having a ‘guess the theme’?

    Enjoy Friday – it’s a three day weekend for most!

  6. Thanks Zooey, for the “warrior”. I feel stronger now 😀

    I’ll be around for a bit tonight, but not too late. My younger boy will be off for school camp on monday **sniff** and I have to buy some stuff tomorrow first thing.

    HoR, I could get up real early instead of staying up late, but the former is not part of my genetic makeup. 😆

  7. Meg Whitman’s ad now includes Mit the Twit Romney and Condi ‘lets go to war’ Rice!
    (I’ll not link to it, just because these folk are sleazy)

  8. I’m no always there late I just don’t close the window. Although since my daughter FB chats sometimes I hang around to remind her to go to bed. School isn’t over until next week.

  9. I’m not a morning person, I just can’t sleep late enough.

    2ebb, I don’t know if I’ll have a theme tonight.

  10. I still can’t comment at TP but I see the trolls have no problem whatsoever. I wonder if one of the trolls got a job there.

  11. Shayne,

    How come you can’t use another family member’s e-mail addy, and a new password, with a slight variation of your screen name?

  12. Yes but it appears he’s on vacation and not really at TP. The first time he pulled a couple of comments out of moderation apparently. Today I sent him a message on FB and he asked what the problem is. After I replied I didn’t hear back and I still can’t comment. It’s too frustrating to read a lot of the troll crap at TP without being able to comment at all.

  13. It appears that he might have gotten it fixed. Yay. I read a lot and don’t comment as long as somebody else whips them into shape. But not being able to comment at all is annoying. I stay logged on all the time and when I tried to log out it wouldn’t let me.

  14. But my husband is going out of town fishing and my daughter has parties all weekend so I’m up for cesspooling.

  15. As far as BP is concerned, leaks and spills are just the cost of doing business. Everything, including the fines, are all part of the calculation. That needs to change.

    We have seen what happens when things go wrong. The benefits of coastal water drilling do not outweigh the costs. The price is too high to ever risk letting something like this happen again. We need for the penalties to be high enough that no one wants to risk drilling for oil in coastal waters ever again.

  16. That’s why that BP chairman didn’t think the link was a big deal. They’re not going to suffer a thing.

  17. Hillary Clinton: Rich aren’t paying fair share

    Hillary Clinton struck a strong populist chord while wading into territory secretary of states rarely go Thursday: Domestic policy.

    During a conference at the Brookings Institution on national security, the nation’s top diplomat bluntly aired her own views on the nation’s tax policies, saying she feels “the rich are not paying their fair share.”

    “The rich are not paying their fair share in any nation that is facing the kind of employment issues [like the U.S.] – whether it’s individual, corporate or whatever the taxation forms are,” Clinton said after clearly stipulating that these were her opinions, not those of the Obama administration.

    This has the rot-wing’s knickers in a twist! They’ve really been starved for an excuse to kick Hillary around for a while. I’m surprised this isn’t already up at TP.

  18. Hey, they just put up a Michelle Bachman thread! That’s good for at least 400 comments!
    Four posts a day for the next three days is going to suck, though. And that’s without a Thinkfast thread. I’ll start my mornings at C&L, and move over here when I see folks stirring.

  19. Hey don’t go EV. I’m not around TP all that much either. Mostly I read more than I comment. As long as somebody else says it I don’t have to. That’s what’s great about being among so many progressives. GMTA. Really EV could you link be any smaller? You obviously have younger eyes than I do.

  20. Muse, many have asked that question, in fact, phrased just that way! 😀

    Beck shoots off his mouth on the air, but buries the apology on his website, where most of his teabagger ilk won’t see it! On his front page it just says:
    Statement From Glenn

  21. house, somebody aired a clip of Hillary at Brookings to point out how awesome she is. She had just returned from China I think when she spoke there. Oh those poor rich people, boofreakinghoo.

  22. Did anybody else see Eliot Spitzer school Daryll Issa on how Bill Clinton talking to Sestak didn’t violate any laws and how it’s standard politics? Issa blabbed on but, but, but Obama promised change blah, blah, blah.

    In the 1970s, Issa and his brother were twice charged with auto theft, once for a Maserati sports car in 1972 and for a Mercedes Benz sedan in 1979, along with being accused of stealing a car during his military service, although he denies these charges. He has also been convicted for possession of an unregistered gun.”

    What a jerk.

  23. I think some guy was talking about how they would suspend it if they saw any anomalies to make sure they didn’t rupture the pipe. Hopefully they’ll resume.

  24. here’s what eaglelady said on the Maddow blog why BP can shut everybody out from info.

    I was going to say that they could file a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) form, but on the website it says that oil wells are exempt. #9 on the list below.

    FOIA Website:

    http://www.fcc.gov/foia/

    What it says:

    Although most FCC documents, records, and publications are accessible through FOIA, some types of FCC records are not available. Section 552(b) of the FOIA contains nine types of records which are routinely exempt from disclosure under the FOIA:

    1. Records classified national defense or foreign policy materials, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(1);
    2. Internal personnel rules and agency practices, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(2);
    3. Information specifically exempted from disclosure by another statute, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(3);
    4. Trade secrets and commercial or financial information obtained from a person and privileged or confidential, 5 U.S.C § 552(b)(4);
    5. Inter- or intra-agency memoranda or letters which would not be available to a party in litigation with the agency, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(5);
    6. Personnel, medical and similar files, disclosure of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(6);
    7. Records compiled for law enforcement purposes, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(7);
    8. Records relating to the examination, operations, or condition of financial institutions, 5 U.S.C. § 552(b)(8); and
    9. Oil well data, 5 U.S.C. § 552 (b)(9).

    Even if a record falls within one of these FOIA exemptions, the FCC may, in some circumstances, release the records, depending upon the exemption at issue and the circumstances of the FOIA request.

    I am hoping some brave undercover reporters are getting some information.

  25. Friday on my mind!
    Reminds me of my junior year in HS when I got on Shebang with Rebecca Amabisca..
    We danced just like the robot kids in that video…!

    Good times.
