THIS IS OUR OPEN THREAD.
TGIF!
It’s not a real war until you have a body count.
So Mr.Santorum, how would you weigh in on this one?
http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/03/29/10926817-hospital-mom-booted-from-er-to-die-in-jail-was-treated-appropriately
Santorum in Janesville, Wisconsin two days ago. Shuttle down to @34:25 in and listen to Ricky catch himself almost calling the President a nigger:
I see you found a longer clip that you could embed. You beat me to it. As I said below, I’m open-minded, so give me something I can believe he meant to say and I’ll accept that he didn’t almost say what it sure sounds like he almost said.
The Sheriff is a nig-[bong]!
I said, dad-blame it, the Sheriff is a nig-[bong]!
Whoa…. that’s pretty telling. It’s always the blah… people with this guy..
Seriously, though, what else could he have been thinking to say?
And maybe he SHOULD consider using a teleprompter.
WTF was Santorum trying to say before he stopped himself in this clip? He clearly stopped saying the word eh was about to say and changed it to something else, but what was he about to say? I’m liberal, so I’m open-minded. As Sherlock Holmes said, “Eliminate the impossible, and whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.”

Heh, GMTA.
Loving the avatar!!
Ah got it, here’s what Sanitation was going to say:
“We know the candidate Barack Obama…what he was like. The anti-war government. *Niggardly* with his support for the troops….. “
Thanks for putting this up, BnF. I got interested in a new book last night, and completely spaced my Friday duties! 😳
Well, Jane and I are getting ready to head off for Adam’s memorial service. There are some things that have to be done in advance, and I have to bring my mother to the hairdresser’s. The service itself ends at 8 PM and we don’t quite yet know what we’ll be doing afterwards or when we’ll be home tonight.
Today will be long and it will eventually be over, but I will miss him forever.
Tough times Wayne. Hugs to you and Jane.
You had to do the bagpipes…
yes.
what..you expected trombones?
I expect tissues!!
Take care, Wayne & Jane. Lots of Critter hugs to you both.
Celebrate the times you had… take care W&J
Stay strong. You will get through this.
(((((Hugs)))))
One last thing. Saw this great comment on dKos.

That is fantastic! Sharing on FB!
There are times when I think that law enforcement should be able to shut down churches and this is one example. I wouldn’t send a child to a church in the first place but if they pulled this stunt there would be blood.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/26/mock-raid-church-teen-traumatized_n_1381156.html
No complaints from the other kids. They are properly programmed to think that no matter what church authorities do, it’s all okay.
“Marsico said it is unclear what sort of charges could be filed if it is determined that someone at the church is criminally culpable. It is not illegal for a person to openly carry a gun, he said, adding carriers only need a license if they conceal the weapon”
Try Assault. Battery. Kidnapping.
Maybe illegal imprisonment?
That be covered under kidnapping.
Kids should have been armed
Then they could protect themselves;
Bullets pass through god
Amen, CheeseFlap.
Sick, sicko, sick.
If the fucking Christer “missionaries” would stay home and knock off their meddling, apparently then the only place they’d have to worry about being assaulted would be in the church basement. What a bunch of fucking assholes.
Pardon my French.
I agree. That’s the kind of French I fully understand!
Here’s an early start for Music Night 🙂
Found this one here.
Rep Aaron Schock (R-ipped Teabagger) used campaign funds to buy his workout videos that he classified as a “health care expense” in his records, but he’s totally against Obamacare and thinks HSAs are just the thing for paying our own health care expenses.
Hey, if you’ve got rubes paying for your workout routine, flaunt it!

Man I can’t stand getting stuck in a long hallway behind an ‘Ood’…..
Stsly, you can’t tell if it has red eye until it turns on you, and by then, it’s really too late.
Steve Benen:
“In this ad, the Romney campaign tells the viewer, “President Barack Obama named himself one of the country’s four best presidents.” Later, the commercial says Obama is really only the best at amassing debt. Let’s put this plainly: there’s simply nothing honest about this attack ad. … Of course, if this is the sort of ad Mitt Romney is running in March, it’s unnerving to think of how dishonest his campaign messages will be in, say, October.”
Apparently, Obama has something against adorable infants:
Yeah, Romney liar? Do this:
I don’t know about George Washington or JFK, but OF COURSE Obama is a better president that Ronnie Reagan was. EVERY president (well, ‘cept for Dubya, of course) was better than Reagan. Well, maybe Nixon was worse too, but you know what I’m trying to say.
Was Rmoney right in that Obama named himself one of the 4 best? have a hard time believing that….
As Benen said:
“…there’s simply nothing honest about this attack ad.”
He did not. Rmoney took it out of context and then distorted it. I read the entire quotation somewhere but I can’t remember where.
Well… it IS a white baby…
Looks kinda pink to me….
Healthcare wasn’t in the Constitution, and for good reason:
“There is no mention of health care, or how to pay for it, in the Constitution, because for the men who wrote it health care wasn’t worth paying very much for. It remained that way until relatively recently. The science of medicine didn’t begin to resemble what we know today until the late nineteenth century. Until about 1900, many American medical schools were no better than the shadier for-profit colleges of today. In “The Great Influenza,” John M. Barry writes that at the time “it was more difficult to get into a respectable American college than into an American medical school…. Many schools bestowed a medical degree upon students who simply attended lectures and passed examinations; in some, students could fail several courses, never touch a single patient, and still get a medical degree.” ‘

Trepanning and blood letting were also once considered normal.
We don’t do this anymore, for good reason.
Still being helpful in wound debridment..
Why maggots and leeches are good for your health
It’s all about vagina mandates and an Ozzie & Harriet world…
I read a post on a blog I follow about how Cal Thomas and Rick Sanscrotum were bringing us back our “TRUE Anglo Saxon Christianity”. Neither being fearful of the modern Jezebels pushing they way into political power, inferior minorities who have proven they’re irresponsible leaders, or the imminent attack by the Islamic faith upon Christianity.
I think all that was missing would be a burning cross and white robes….and sadly, it’s exactly what its all coming to.
For the conservatives compassion starts when a fellow NRA member carrying a concealed 9mm, is forced to “stand his ground” and systematically murder a 160 pound kid carrying a lethal box of Skittles and a bottle of iced tea.
Anglo Saxon Christianity – you mean these guys?
Speaking as an Anglo Saxon, every November 5th we round up as many Catholics as we can and set fire to them while drinking a nice mulled wine and eating chestnuts, although these days we just do it in effigy. I’m sure I can find a nice sleeveless sweater for my ‘Guy’ this year 😉
(too damn funny, Turtle!)
My friend’s father is English and dragged her, her little 2 year old daughter and her stepmom out on November 5th last year to a local park where, in the dark they proceeded to set off a bunch of fireworks. I asked if the cops showed up, she said no, but I told her that she’d have definitely made the police blotter if her dad had brought an effigy and proceeded to burn it in the BBQ stand when they showed up…
I find it hard to believe that Santorum smears like that.
😉
Speaking of Right Wing Nutjobs, Bryan Fischer is setting the homophobic, lying, racist POS bar pretty high these days. Here’s a tidbit from rightwingwatch.org.
Morning Edition had an author/prof on the other morning that has a book out about how conservatives and liberals are equally sincere but view the world completely differently, and should make more of an effort to understand the others’ viewpoint. People like Bryan Fischer, who now define the Right, clarify why this is bunk. I don’t need to make any effort to see his point of view; it’s staked out right there in plain sight. So read the Ten Commandments of Secular Sharia if you’ve got the stomach for it.
That one I can go along with, save for the Allah part (a god is a god is a god is … and therefore useless no matter the name).
Wonder where Fischer gets the idea that we “secular fundamentalists” get off on Islam and Allah? That stuff is just as silly as Christianity. You’d think he’d know that.
Secular fundamentalists suggest tolerance for other beliefs. Since we don’t rant and rave about the evils of Islam we are secret Muslims.
Interesting that Fischer uses the word “plunder”, because that’s exactly what humans have been doing throughout the last century. Morons like this apparently believe that their god will just keep replenishing the oil in the ground as long as good Christian white people need it.
Replenishing the oil and sucking the excess CO2 from the atmosphere, too. You know, to keep the planet from getting too hot. Wonder when god will get busy on that last one?
Reminds me of kids playing –
you just sit around making up rules/regs as to “who can and can not” climb the ladder to the inner sanctum of the tree house.
I’m looking forward to September 19th becoming an official holiday.
Hmm, Labor Day (working people and unions) and MLK Day (people of color). Yeah, no agenda here. And when the fuck did Thanksgiving become a Holy Day?
Not to mention the victim persecution nonsense about how secularists are trying to destroy Christmas and Easter. Hint: take that one up with the free market you worship.
Oh boy! I’m going to have a “hygiene experience.”
Okay, let the jokes roll, but this was on a reminder card I got from the dentist. Letting me know that on April ??th, I have a “hygiene experience” at 8:30.
Never heard it called that before. Struck me as a bit funny.
Good gawd – dentistry porn! Whatever happened to good old teeth cleaning? Too mundane?
I know. I felt like I was going to do something in Vegas when I heard it.
I think that’s what Steve Martin was doing in Little Shop of Horrors.
😆
I wouldn’t mind a hygiene experience with the gal that cleans my teeth. I was in there a week before last Tuesday.
I hear you on that one. I feel the same about mine.
i ALWAYS love to get mine cleaned, i think they got suspicious when i was trying to schedule every two months….my hygienist has what has to be a Double D…..i love it when she lays me back and i’m surrounded!!
well….back to work now!
– Andy Borowitz, the Borowtz Report
What about overpopulation? Not to worry, says the reality show mom, Michelle Duggar. Despite the world supporting a record 7 billion people, the whole “mindset” of overpopulation is “not true; it’s a lie,” Duggar tells the Christian Broadcasting Network. “The idea of overpopulation is not accurate because, really, the entire population of the world, if they were stood shoulder to shoulder, could fit in the city limits of Jacksonville,” says Duggar. “So if you realize that aspect of it, we realize we’re not anywhere near being overpopulated.”
{{facepalm}}
I suppose not, until one of the ones in the middle needs to go ‘number 2’
Waaaaay back when I took a psychology course we read about a animal study that probably wouldn’t be allowed today. Simply put; they overcrowded various animals. Dogs, cat, rats, monkeys and such. They locked a bunch of them, each with their own kind, in a cage and watched what happened. Mind you; they were given plenty of food and water, their cages were kept clean, their only hardship was being packed too many to a cage. Well? Before too long the animals went insane. Some became murderers and/or cannibals. Some of them displayed less severe erratic behavior like atypical aggression short of murder and/or cannibalism, and some of them went into a corner and starved themselves to death.
This extrapolates to human behavior as well. There is a definite correlation between overcrowding and aberrant behavior even when other factors, like poverty and hunger, aren’t at play. Of course, this profoundly stupid woman doesn’t realize that overcrowding has nothing to do with the depletion of resources and pollution of the environment but, even on this one point, her frightful stupidity forces her to make an incredibly stupid statement.
Well, that’s two bags completed on my special order, and eight more in various stages of “in progress.”
Need some fresh air, so laters!
Lunch break is thirty minutes…
Unless the whales and pelicans are migrating. 😉
Right, then you can PTO.
Okay! Whatever that is! 😆
Personal Time Off
Just received the phone call confirming I’m now covered under the county health plan – making my portion of the nearly $25,000.00 for 2.5 days stay in hospital —
$200.00! Now I can make appointments for follow-up visits; specialist visits; pharmacy and any other testing needed. (each will have a low co-pay).
At the moment life is good!
(and eff you Mittens; Marshmallow man; sleeveless sweater sanctimonious piece of garbage for denying health care coverage to all the U.S.)
Ahh, sucking from the government teat, eh Ebb? We’d prefer if you just took up donations from friends and relatives to cover that $25K, maybe have a bake sale or two also.
Did you try to barter the hospital by offering up some chicken? That’s a fave option recommended by the GOP.
I was fresh out of chicken! They didn’t want my cat so I had nothing left to barter.
You didn’t offer them the cat!
Good to hear you’re not facing medical bankruptcy.
Thank goodness, Ebb. 🙂
That’s great news Ebb.
This is so why we need to truly fix our health care system. No one should ever have to go through this sort of anxiety, and having the make the decision of getting the needed follow-on care.
Have I recently mentioned how much I hate Reich-wing freaks? It’s bad enough when we can predict the votes of Justices based on their stated political ideology but it damned-near pushes me over the edge when they simultaneously express their ignorance of the matter at hand and proudly assert that they have no intention of educating themselves. Personally, I think that the moment Scalia announced he has no intention of even reading the law that is being debated his office should have been padlocked and the search for a new Justice should have been launched that day. It forces me to conclude that he refuses to read anything, including the U.S. Constitution, that might contradict his preconceptions. But, the part that pisses me off the most, is that the only recourse left to us common folk is to fervently wish that he’s struck by lightning, walks in front of a bus, or suffers a fatal heart attack. I hate thinking things like that but we are left with nothing else.

Olbermann is OUT at Current TV.
Shocking, shocking I tell you.
Eliot Spitzer replaces him.
To the Viewers of Current:
We created Current to give voice to those Americans who refuse to rely on corporate-controlled media and are seeking an authentic progressive outlet. We are more committed to those goals today than ever before.
Current was also founded on the values of respect, openness, collegiality, and loyalty to our viewers. Unfortunately these values are no longer reflected in our relationship with Keith Olbermann and we have ended it.
– – Wow, that’s pretty damn harsh. KO is pretty much an island and an asshole to work with, from many accounts.
So in reading the article, I never knew Joel Hyatt was the other founder of Current. I knew Gore was involved. I remember Joel Hyatt and his TV commercials for Hyatt Legal Services from way back.
Jeebus, what is up with that guy?
Oh, and Keith says he’ll be suing. Scorch that earth and destroy any bridges.
He’s an overachiever in that area.
Kieth has got himself fired..again.
From the files of WTF?
Yes, 20% of Americans have not yet embraced heliocentricity as a model for the solar system
Did the survey explain to them it’s not gay?
But the whole universe revolves around the baby Jesus!!
Deadbeat Joe Walsh on Tammy Duckworth’s military service:
Maybe in their debates before election day, he’ll offer her a couple band-aids with purple hearts on them?
But I bet Walsh thinks John McCain is a true American hero.
Well, he is male.
I don’t think there are many knowledgeable people who haven’t realized that Mr. Olbermann has a large capacity for being a dick. But, before we relegate him to the scrap heap, we must consider that he has a chronic condition that causes chronic pain, suffered a brain injury, and lost both parents in the last couple years. Any one of those three can cause bad moods, contentious relationships at home and at work, and erratic behavior. Those things can really multiply the effects of an abrasive personality. I sincerely hope that he can just recover and be happy. Then, perhaps, he can find a niche where he fits best; as a conscience within the media/political world.
BTW. I share his opinion of the technical aspects at Current. I’m more a fan of Cenk than I ever was of Keith and I can barely tolerate The Young Turks because of the echos from those damned cinder block walls. If I thought that they couldn’t afford it themselves I would gladly pay for the foam “egg crate” to improve the acoustics on the set.
This came from a comment at Raw Story, so I don’t have a link.
I am of the opinion that Gore and Hyatt gambled that Current’s ratings would increase enough that they could get more cable outlets to include the channel, which would then increase the ratings further, allowing for advertising revenues which would pay for Keith’s contract. They didn’t factor in that cable companies have no interest in helping their policy opponents in D.C.
I’m surprised that Comcast put them on their line up, even when all they ran were obscure documentaries and ‘jackass’ style reality shows. Keith got them into the game, just as he did MSNBC. We wouldn’t have Rachel Maddow without Keith getting her the chance.
Boy that copied and pasted weird.
I got it.
Based on my limited knowledge of the internal affairs at Current I would still say the animosity is mutual and much of it is justified; from both parties. I also think that Rachel and Cenk are far closer to genuine journalists than Keith could ever hope to be. It’s just not part of his make up.
Thanks for cleaning up the weirdly spaced copy.
Bill0 the Clown actually had the audacity to accuse “the far-left media” of inciting violence. Again. Strong words from the guy who ordered the hit on George Tiller.
http://mediamatters.org/mmtv/201203300017#1627912
He’s a piece of work..
there have no violent acts, reported.
The demonstrations, around here, have been peaceful, respectful and hooded. Even the church gatherings request attendees to wear hoodies in memory of Treyvon.
