Good morning, Zoosters.

This is the open thread of the day, until a better one comes around.

So, have a cup of your favorite brew, sit down and unload whatever comes to mind.

  1. In re pressure cookers, I am possibly the only person alive on the planet today who uses a pressure cooker MORE OFTEN than any Islamic terrorist outfit! And too, I suspect I’ve used a gun far less often than almost all alive today, at least in the US of A. True story!

  2. ‘Like’ isn’t working for me so consider this my ‘like’ of the post, until a better way is available. 😀

            • fatherbob, there isn’t a ‘like’ on every post —
it is just below and just above the author of the Watering Hole subject of the day:

Uncertain if this works on a mobile device.

            • Apologies, damn, royally messed that up.

  3. On Friday, the New York Times reported on the front page that Citigroup drafted most of a House bill that would allow banks to engage in risky trades backed by a potential taxpayer-funded bailout. The Times notes that “Citigroup’s recommendations were reflected in more than 70 lines of the House committee’s 85-line bill.” Special-interest lobbyists often play a role in writing legislation on the Hill, but such sausage-making is rarely revealed to the public. In this instance, members of Congress and a band of lobbyists have been caught red-handed, and Mother Jones has obtained the Citigroup draft that is practically identical to the House bill. As you can see in the side-by-side comparison below, the lobbyists for Citigroup really earned their pay on this job.

  4. McCain bait:

“Just don’t call me a hero. I got caught and shoved into a hole and didn’t die.” — Nicholas Brody, “The Clearing,” episode #7 of season #2 of Homeland.

  5. If only being a right wing nutbag radio/teevee character required a background and sanity check.
We’d have been spared Hannity, Limbaugh, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

  6. Seen on MSNBC site today
    Insurance required for a gun?
This has been discussed on this forum quite extensively.
I submit that it should also be realistically priced to reflect the loss of life or limb it causes.
I’d venture a non-actuarial guess like $12,000 per annum for an assault weapon.

  7. At breakfast today, I heard some bumpkin saying that the government is going to euthanize old people. How do you combat that amount of stupid?

  8. In New York State, not only do women have the legal right to breastfeed in public (that’s what breasts are for), they have the legal right to go topless thanks to a judge who ruled that a law saying men can go topless but women can’t violates equal protection. The NYPD has been reminded that unless a topless woman is otherwise breaking the law, they are not to arrest her just for being topless. I Love New York. 🙂

  9. I’m watching Chris Hayes and during a break I get a commercial telling me to watch Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannitty, and Greta Van Susteren on Fox News. On MSNBC !

  10. Hi, all y’all.

I’m in Livingston, Montana, and will be making the big push to get home tomorrow. I’ll let you know when I get there.

We saw Mt Rushmore yesterday & Devils Tower today. Got some great pics of climbers on Devils tower. Crazy SOBs. 😀
