Sunday Open Thread… Something to get started…

Anna Jarvis

Happy Mother’s Day.  We all have mothers even those test tube babies needed an egg to get their development started.

The history of Mother’s Day here.

What’s on your mind today?  Speak Up!

  1. Happy Day, Mothers!

Teddy Bridgewater didn’t actually buy his mom a pink Cadillac Escalade

Teddy Bridgewater’s mom got a pretty sweet gift on Tuesday, when she received a pink Cadillac Escalade from her son. There is one small addendum to the story though: Bridgewater didn’t actually buy the car.

A lot people were wondering how Bridgewater could afford the Escalade because he hasn’t signed an NFL contract yet.

The answer to that question? Cadillac donated it after hearing Bridgewater’s story about how in third grade he promised to buy his mom a pink Escalade after she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I think his agent could certainly have arranged him getting her the car, if GM hadn’t offered it.

  2. “I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it,” Marco Rubio said, according to excerpts released by ABC “This Week,” “and I do not believe that the laws that they propose we pass will do anything about it, except it will destroy our economy.”

There ya go, Rubio sums up the GOP in two sentences — us laymen know more than scientists, and we can’t risk hurting the economy for anything — by a senator with no chance of getting nominated, no matter how much he panders.

  3. I don’t know if this counts as an accomplishment or not, but I’ve been notified this account followed me. I thought I was already following it, but when I checked, it indicated I wasn’t…

    • Wayne, I think you were following tweetofgod, rather than this tweetlikeagod. I don’t twitter, I noticed because I like the tweets of god that you post.

    • Faith is when you believe in what you want. Insanity is when you expect everyone else to believe it also.

    • Faith is where you believe things for which you have no evidence, but have found them valuable in your own life. Insanity is expecting everyone else to share the same life experiences as your own, or assuming there is only one path that leads to peace.

  4. Notice to everyone living east of the Rockies: storm approaching. It moved in here this morning, and is expected to last the better part of two days. Rain, then ice, then up to six inches of snow, followed by more rain, etc. When this crap moves onto the Great Plains and beyond, best advice is to (literally) hang onto your hat. We needed the moisture, but other than that little blessing the definitive word is Yukamundo.

  5. Time Warner Cable strikes again: the last 32 seconds of a hotly contested Clipper-OKC, 2-point game at Staples Center, goes black.

Maybe that’s what Donald Sterling meant by not bringing blacks to the game.

    • (chuckling at the Sterling reference)
Two point game – ‘control central’ wasn’t watching or it just didn’t give a damn about the game…frustrating for fans!

  6. I’m putting together my post for tomorrow, and I’m getting an error message when I try to insert a picture into the post: “An error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.”

Has anyone else run into this problem, or have any idea how to fix it? Not that my post is dependent on the photos, but I’d like to include some.

  7. Happy Mother’s Day all you mothers, and fruit of mothers’ loins.

Thank you for picking up my slack today, Cats. You’re the greatest. 🙂
