Sunday Roast: The best thing in the world…for today

Via RawStory

The Dover Police Department will be releasing several of these videos — I don’t know if it’s the same guy — and they call them “Dashcam Confessionals.”

Now, just try getting the song out of your head.  LOL

This is our daily open thread — You know what to do.

  1. It bothers me the world is turning its back on Nigeria.

    via Avaaz dot org

Boko Haram just used a 10-year-old girl as a bomb-detonator right after massacring up to 2,000 people. There is a reign of terror in Northern Nigeria.

But Nigerian President Jonathan has said almost NOTHING about this in his election campaign, and his brutal army, instead of protecting civilians, is fuelling the insurgency.

The world has put this crisis in the ‘too hard to solve’ box — the UN Security Council hasn’t even issued a Presidential Statement on Nigeria!

The only good news: escalating violence has renewed pressure to act.

Let’s multiply that pressure now and persuade our leaders and the United Nations to convene an emergency Security Council meeting and prioritise this crisis.

Nigeria is deep into a brutal conflict that’s ostensibly a Muslim/Christian war, but underlying it are tensions between an oil-rich, corrupt, ruling elite and a poor, disenfranchised and neglected North. Over 10,000 people were killed in 2014, and over 1.6 million Nigerians have fled their homes. Boko Haram now controls an area the size of Denmark.

  2. Reality TV.

If the subject knows the camera is on, it’s not really candid. That’s part of the reason I like racing. You can’t really fake it for the camera at 180+ mph.

That said, this is the craziest shit I’ve ever heard a race driver get involved in, (and this includes John Paul, Sr. getting involved in smuggling drugs to pay for his race cars.)

NASCAR’s Kurt Busch Testifies That Ex-Girlfriend Is An Assassin

Testifying about a request for a protective order against him, race car driver Kurt Busch told a Dover, Del., court this week that his former girlfriend is an assassin. Patricia Driscoll, who dated Busch for four years, requested the order last November, shortly after their relationship ended.

Driscoll has also filed a criminal complaint against Busch, alleging that he grabbed her and slammed her head into the wall of his motor coach at Dover International Speedway last fall. Busch denies those claims, which the authorities have been considering separately.

    (snip)

The former NASCAR Sprint Cup champion, 36, said that Driscoll “is a trained assassin dispatched on covert missions around the world,” The Associated Press reports. The news agency adds: “Busch said Driscoll repeatedly asserted her assassin status and claimed the work took her on missions across Central and South America and Africa.”

“Everybody on the outside can tell me I’m crazy, but I lived on the inside and saw it firsthand,” Busch said.

Busch is a Stewart-Haas teammate of Danica Patrick, in case you didn’t know.

    • Didn’t know he was a teammate of DP until you posted!

Obviously Driscoll is no longer covert thanks to Busch telling the world.

    • “…Busch was ‘unstable and struggling with alcoholism and depression,’ among other things.”

People let this man drive a car 200 mph with 100,000 people standing nearby.

      • “…Busch was ‘unstable and struggling with alcoholism and depression,’ among other things.”

So, where did this quote come from, then? Oh yeah. Driscoll herself! Therefore it must be true, of course! She was under oath!

  3. Yesterday, when asked if he thought mankind was mostly to blame for global warming, the Pope Frankie responded:

“I don’t know if it is all (man’s fault) but the majority is, for the most part, it is man who continuously slaps down nature,” he said. The words were his clearest to date on climate change, which has sparked worldwide debate and even divided conservative and liberal Catholics, particularly in the United States. “We have, in a sense, lorded it over nature, over Sister Earth, over Mother Earth … I think man has gone too far.”

  4. Fox News apologizes 4 times for inaccurate comments about Muslims in Europe

Fox News took time out of four broadcasts on Saturday to apologize for four separate instances of incorrect information that portrayed Muslims in a negative light.

Several of the cases involved incendiary comments about “no-go zones” in Europe, where Islamic law supposedly supersedes local law and where non-Muslims fear to go.

Other media outlets have accused Fox of exaggerations and falsehoods, and even British Prime Minister David Cameron mocked one of the assertions.

I don’t think Cameron is a big fan of Rupert Murdoch’s little media empire.

I didn’t wake up in time to watch Fox News Sunday. I wonder if the apologies continued today…

    • If Fox apologized for all their lies, they’d be a 24/7 apology network.

And despite the apologies, Fox knows what it’s doing. It gets the lie out there and then it gets repeated.

    • But, as far as I know, Judge “Bomb Them Again, Kill ’em All” Jeanine still has her job and has not apologized for her own hateful, violent, and vile rhetoric. Heck! She probably got a raise and will receive a seat at their election coverage table. She will be the shrill harpy telling the audience to go out and kill “libruls” while they run the long shot of Megyn Kelly wandering around looking for someone with a fact.

    • The Huckster scares me. He has that ability to sound like he’s being reasonable until one really dissects what he says and realizes he’s every bit as crazy as Batscat Bachmann. The utter cluelessness he shows by questioning the parenting decisions of the First Family is a glowing example from a guy who has been seen humping Nugent’s leg and has a kid who is reportedly a raving psychopath.

Of course; that doesn’t even touch upon his stated belief that every child should be compelled to study the Buybull and all the moral issues that raises.

      • Huck is a typical repugnant hypocirte. On the Larry King show Huckster attempted to brush aside what his son had done by saying ” he was a juvenile at the time”.
Some great parenting – don’t hold him accountable for killing animals.

      • Unfortunately, pHuckabee is part of the religious nutcase right’s common denominator. They only differ in the way they preach hate and fear, and they don’t differ very much, if at all — every last one of them being the antithesis of what J.C. was thought to be.
