Apologize for last week’s stumble.
Paul Siebel cut two albums (Woodsmoke and Oranges and Jack-knife Gypsy) in the early 70’s and then pretty much disappeared from the music scene.
The two albums made him a musician’s musician. His songs were covered by, among others, David Bromberg, Willy DeVille, Linda Ronstadt, Bonnie Raitt, Jerry Jeff Walker, Kate Wolf, Mary McCaslin, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, and Leo Kottke, but songwriter Paul Siebel remained unknown to the larger public. He was located upstate New York a dozen years ago working as a bread baker, and later as an employee of the county parks system. A talent deserving a better fate.
