The Watering Hole, Tuesday December 8, 2015 – Environmental News and Food Politics

Maybe it is just me, but these climate summits have been happening for a while yet very little seems to be accomplished. Mr. Peadbody’s coal trains still chugging past former West Virginia mountaintops. Climate summits seem a lot like Earth Day. Feel good for a little while, but there will be no sense of urgency until the officials at the meetings sit around the tables knee deep in water. Climate deniers, while in a vast minority in the scientific community, rule the roost in political circles, where money sets the agenda. A part of me thinks that Republican/Libertarian support of marijuana law changes in the various states is a cultural shift away from ‘religion is the opiate of the people’ to ‘cannabis is the opiate of the people’.

Read on, if you dare.

  1. If you’re a Republican running for president, and your views are too extreme for even torture-loving Dick Cheney, you’re done.

OTOH, Cheney is a warped, sadistic, greedy, hypocritical, murderous puke. If he supports a decent position, it’s for the wrong reasons.

    • I will not be able to watch that show now without a smirk and that image, Wayne… oh my. Rawstory got some interesting stuff on the right-hand side there too. Next stop JK Rowling’s tweet.

  2. Trump is making even Marco “Woman? It is just a vessel for the precious fetus” Rubio seem competent and moderate.

  3. I’d comment, but I can’t think of anything to say anymore.

Cliff Kincaid: Obama Is ‘Mentally Ill’ Due To Past Pot Use And Must Be Impeached

Accuracy in Media’s Cliff Kincaid is calling upon Congress to impeach President Obama and remove him from office on the grounds that he is currently mentally incompetent due to excessive use of marijuana when he was younger.

In a piece logically titled “Is Our Stoner President Mentally Impaired?,” Kincaid asserts that Congress must begin the process of “removing Obama from office because of cognitive impairment” as “he is so affected by previous drug use that he is just not capable of comprehending reality”

    • How come Boy “Drug free since 1974” Bush didn’t have the same argument applied…. (one example from countless obvious examples of impairment)

    • Impeached for what? What is the “high crime and misdemeanor”? Any idea ….. what a cockwomble.

      • I’m guessing “high crimes and misdemeanors” means, in the nutcase vernacular, ‘the unwillingness to kick the shit out of alladem whatevers.’ Dubsy clearly had overcome his drug impairment because this n’ that . . . etc . . . plus he was a WHITE Christer nutcase.

    • I liked the HG Wells type of traveler … a cravat and tails, talking to the TVs …🙂

      • “Be generally terrified of people who are dressed immodestly compared to your era. Tattoos and shorts on women are especially scary”

We have these people in our society already.
        They’re called fundaMENTAL Christians.

The emphasis on mental is mine.

  5. Time for the bumper stickers I think ….. there’s this and “You want me on that bridge! – (yelling “what are you going to do about it, whitey?”)

    • The vicious, violent xenophobia that has become common discourse in this country by prominent people and elected officials is absolutely terrifying to me

      • Whenever I see video of Trump and the crowd that applauds him (WAY too often, btw), the first thought that crosses my mind is “IQ 70-75” — lower even than in the Bush years.
