  1. Politifact: “In the 12 years of’s existence, we’ve never seen a match for him.

Trump stands out not only for the sheer number of his factually false claims, but also for his brazen refusals to admit error when proven wrong.”

Truth is so 20th century. “We create our own reality” — Karl Rove.

    • I note that the 1880s town of Tombstone had better gun regulation than most of the USA does now.

  2. And I just noticed BBC America is in Doctor Who countdown mode to the Christmas Special on Christmas night!

      • Gives me something on tv all hours of the day! It’s running season 3 with David Tennant and Freema Agyeman now.

    • Yay!!!

SammytheTurtle and I compete to identify which episode of DW many British actors, character and leads, appear in DW and in other things…. she got me the other night with Patrick Stewart’s Christmas Carol – Mrs Fezziwig can be found as a Slytheen on the run from David Tennant’s Doctor…… but then I struck back hard – Bob Cratchett, is so masterfully played by Richard E Grant, that the contrast between his Cratchett, and an earlier cult portrayal of one Withnail in ‘Withnail and I’, and then the strange Dr Simeon in ‘the Snowmen’ (Christmas 2012) …. that she didn’t spot him.

My daughter has a similar gift for names and faces, and it makes for a fun game.

BTW ‘Withnail and I’ features Doctor Who #8, Paul McGann, an excellent actor – who I think could have made a great Doctor, pity he was stuck with that Americanized movie in 1999 that no one misses.

My fave Chrissy special – I dunno, a toss-up between Voyage of the Damned, Next Doctor and Christmas Carol of course.

      • I enjoy spotting actors and actresses from popular movies in the early days of their careers, especially on early black and white tv westerns. I just saw a Death Valley Days yesterday with Tom Skerritt.

  3. And from the files of “When you think of how stupid the average Republican supporter is…”:

Some 30% of GOP voters want to turn Aladdin and Princess Jasmine into nuclear glass

…. *only* 19% of Democrats do…. which is still nothing to be proud of….

As I saw on the Tweeter the other day – >40% of voters in the most powerful country on the planet believe that a virgin gave birth to a baby 2000 years ago.

Hope everyone’s Winter Solstice was groovy yesterday.

  4. Nonewhere… those are great ideas for a greener Christmas. Would buying a used artificial tree from St. Vinnie’s or Goodwill be considered “green”? I like the idea of using a Norfolk pine as a Christmas tree. 🙂 Too bad we don’t have the room for one.

Another idea for wrapping gifts would be to use pieces of cloth. This works especially well for someone that sews as the cloth can be used afterwards to make items to give as gifts or to sell.

    • My Mom loved to sew the wrapping cloth all the way around.
We needed a seam ripper to open the present!

  5. Theodore Shoebat Wants The Government To Send SWAT Teams To Shut Down Yoga Studios

“You need to Christianize the land,” he stated. “We need to destroy these false religions, end of story. Hinduism is an evil, demonic, anti-Christ religion. It needs to be uprooted from the earth and it has no place in the world.”

“Yoga? Outlawed,” Shoebat continued. “And anyone who teaches yoga? Punished by the state … I think the U.S. government needs to crack down on this evil, demonic thing called yoga … You’re teaching yoga, have the SWAT team bust open the doors to that place and just arrest everybody.”

    • So if the wishes of the family were to donate the tissue to medical science, would this law also outlaw organ donation?

  6. In case anyone was still wondering, here ya go —

Bryan Fischer Says Dinosaurs Were Just Giant, 1,000-Year-Old Lizards

As Fischer explained, prior to Noah’s flood, the average human lifespan was 912 years, so logically the lifespans of animals and reptiles and the like were also much longer during this period. And since reptiles continue to grow until they die, Fischer said, it stands to reason that a lizard that lived for 1,000 years would eventually grow to be the size of a dinosaur.

Asserting that there is “no reason to doubt” the Bible when it says that Methuselah lived for 969 years, Fischer declared that if some salamanders today can live for hundreds of years and grow to be several feet in length, then obviously lizards before the flood could live for a thousand years and grow even larger.

“I’m thinking that could be the explanation for dinosaurs,” he said. “They were just like reptiles that just like grew for a 1,000 years, kept growing, kept growing, kept growing.”
