The Watering Whole. 12/30/15.

From “The Lord’s Prayer”:

“forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us”

“forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us”

“forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors”

The word “as” appears in each version. “As” – in the same manner – to the same degree. The universal law of balance.

Ā Those who call themselves Christians recite these words in one version or another by rote, without much thought as to their meaning and implication. They speak the words on Sunday morning, and by Sunday afternoon, have gone back to hating all things Muslim, because, you know, terrorists. Muslims are the scapegoats du jour.

“forgive us our trespasses to the same degree we forgive those who trespass against us”

One need not be religious to apply this universal law of attaining balance in one’s life.

    • Does anyone know how long it takes to get a passport, and how much it costs for a couple of one-way tickets to — I dunno, someplace — paradise maybe — that’s pleasant and likes old white people? Somewhere in the South Seas maybe? Where the cost of living is real cheap? Maybe a place that’s never heard of either Mein Trumpf or country “music” — AND NEVER WANTS TO?

      Trying to plan ahead.

      • Try Australia.
They’re not angry like the U.S.
Egalitarian, topless beaches and great beer.

        • Yeah, that’s right. In fact, I remember a guy — former regular on TP before it changed — from Minneapolis I think, who was heading for Belize. I assume he went, never saw his moniker or comments again after his date of departure passed. Besides, if you didn’t like it you could always catch a bus from El Salvador to the Rio Grande and then sneak back in, right? šŸ˜‰

Can’t imagine doing that, though, not if Mein Trumpf was in charge.

  1. Operation Space Invader ™ is now complete.

My eldest has made the move from Portland to Springfield, and will stay with me until he’s saved enough for his own place.

I’m sure this will go well. Pretty sure. Kinda. :/

    • My ex’s older son has been living with her since April. He’s finally got a job with Polaris as an assembly tech. He travels to Minnesota next week to train at the main facility for two weeks. He came with three cats and a small neurotic dog. I was able to keep one of the cats, but the other two had to stay with him.

  2. The line in the Lord’s Pray that comes just before the part about “forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us” is:

“Give us this day our daily bread…”

Freakin’ “takers”, expecting to be fed by god. šŸ˜‰
