The Watering Hole, Monday, August 1, 2016: Cute Baby Animal Overload

The conventions are over, and rather than dwell on the hate and negativity of the Republican Convention, or the hate and negativity of the Republican response to the Democratic Convention, let’s just enjoy some cute baby animal pics, courtesy of the Twitter account @CuteBabyAnimals. Enjoy, and discuss anything you want afterwards. This is our daily open thread.

    • So a Trump presidency would look this this. Crises all around the world (as there are every day). Crises here at home. But those can wait, if someone said something he didn’t like he’d be in a twitter war with them.

      • A President Drumpf would, indeed, handle each and all “crises” — from domestic little things to International big things, including nuclear war — via his Twitter account.

I therefore recommend that as of this date, Twitter be disappeared until the day after Drumpf’s funeral, whenever that might be.

    • What are the laws in New York in mental competency matters? Who controls Trump’s empire if he’s found to be nuts?

      • Nationwide, it’s my considered opinion that the inmates are running each and every asylum.

As to who will run Trump’s “empire” when he’s found nuts, it will be the same people as always, i.e. unnamed Chinese, Mexicans, Turks, Indians, Russians, and whichever other countries are milking his various cows.

        • Are any of them really nuts enough to take over? Qualified enough to actually ‘run’ a shit-soaked “empire”? I’m betting they will, each and all, extract however many $$ are left and then disappear into the hills. I say that because I cannot really believe that there’s an “empire” embedded anywhere in all that muck, in that house of mirrors. Trump is a complete phony. There is no there there. He’s what Bernie Maddoff hoped to become, and essentially only one or two steps above what Maddoff became. Difference is, Trump isn’t in prison yet because he’s played the game better than Maddoff could ever manage. My guess is his ‘family’ understands most of that.

  1. The Trump-inspired hate-storm continues to build:

Trump Ally Roger Stone Pushes Claim That Humayun Khan Was A Terrorist, Father A Muslim Brotherhood Spy

UPDATE: Trump campaign adviser Al Baldasaro is also promoting the Shoebats’ incendiary post.

Roger Stone, the conservative activist who has served as Donald Trump’s longtime confidant and political adviser, tweeted a story last night authored by conspiracy theorists Walid and Ted Shoebat alleging that Khazir Khan, the father of a slain Muslim-American soldier who blasted Trump in a speech at the Democratic convention last week, is a Muslim Brotherhood spy and that his late son was an Islamist terrorist.

Trump has repeatedly attacked and smeared Khan and his wife since they publicly criticized his proposed ban on Muslims entering the country, noting that their son, who was born in the United Arab Emirates, wouldn’t have been allowed in the country had Trump been president at the time

Note the ever-continuing Trump methodology — no solid data required, only peripheral fear-inspiring facts that are immediately squashed and turned into Trumpianista bullshit by his lackeys.

    Disgusting, totally disgusting.

  2. There’s only two types of Americans today, the first type are those that support Trump and the second type are sane people.

    • Even the Koch Brothers won’t support him, but they will never vote for Hillary. So it isn’t the rich people who would vote for him, leaving just the poorly educated people, many of whom believe the kind of crap Alex Jones vomits.

  3. CNN has one really credible anchor/host.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Describes Trump As A ‘Bullshit Artist’ On Air

Zakaria gave a lengthy description of Trump’s ignorance on basic political and policy issues and characterized Trump’s behavior as a “pattern and said, “Every time it is demonstrated that Donald Trump is plainly ignorant about some basic public policy issue, some well known fact, he comes back with a certain bravado and tries to explain it away with a tweet or a statement.”

He continued, “He did it on Brexit. He did it on the nuclear triad. He did it really on how U.S. debt markets work. He thought that Tim Kaine was the governor of New Jersey.”

Zakaria understands that some people might perceive Trump as being entertaining, but he properly labeled him as something more.

“It’s sort of amusing to watch, how’s he going to pull it off this time? What is he going to argue, usually he adds that the press hates him, but there is a term for this kind of thing. This is the mode of a bullshit artist.”

  4. So, the WaPo finally calls it like it is.
There is something very wrong with Donald Trump
Thanks, WaPo, for confirming what the rest of us have known for quite a while…
    Salient quote:
… You don’t take a crack at every single person who criticized you. And you especially don’t pick fights that you can’t possibly win, such as against a grieving Gold Star mother or a general. It’s simply not in your interest to do so.

The fact that Trump could not help himself, that he clearly did, as he said, want to “hit” everyone who spoke against him at the Democratic convention, suggests that there really is something wrong with the man. It is not just that he is incapable of empathy. It is not just that he feels he must respond to every criticism he receives by attacking and denigrating the critic, no matter how small or inconsequential. If you are a Republican, the real problem, and the thing that ought to keep you up nights as we head into the final 100 days of this campaign, is that the man cannot control himself. He cannot hold back even when it is manifestly in his interest to do so. What’s more, his psychological pathologies are ultimately self-destructive

  5. One more GREAT reason to elect Hillary as POTUS:

Michael Savage Threatens To Leave The Country If Hillary Is Elected

“Eight years I’ll have to put up with that, God forbid,” Savage said. “I don’t think I could take it. That’s reason enough to move to Iceland. I don’t want to see her in pantsuits. I can’t take it. Angela Merkel has the sense not to wear pantsuits. If she just wore a potato sack, Angela Merkel, it would suit her face and her personality.”
