Daily Gnuz

Biggest gnuz of the day is obviously, the Republican failure to govern…

Why Senate Republicans couldn’t repeal Obamacare
h/t Vox
Three Republican Senators refused to sign up for skinny repeal. That’s all it took to knock out the party. Now perhaps they’ll start reaching across the aisle and hold committee hearings, involve the opposition, you know, …govern.

Scaramucci declares war on Priebus, Bannon h/t Politico
Once again, Trump gravitates toward a psychophant(sick) who goes off the scale to ingratiate himself with the Prezidunce.

The real reason the Trump administration has such a leak problem h/t again, our friends at Vox Nail it.

  1. In my college days back in the early sixties, everybody knew a Leak was caused by a drip under pressure. Trump is the biggest ‘drip’ I’ve ever run across, so . . . is he ‘under pressure’? Sotospeak? Perchance?

  2. Here’s one I was saving for a new post:

Steve Bannon Pushing For 44 Percent Marginal Tax Rate On The Very Rich

Top White House adviser Steve Bannon is pushing for tax reform to include a new 44 percent top marginal tax rate, hitting people who earn more than $5 million a year, with the revenue paying for tax cuts for the rest, according to three people who’ve spoken to him recently.

The top rate is now 39.6 percent and most Republicans have been planning to lower it significantly as part of tax reform. The plan Trump put out previously would have only three brackets, with the top one brought down to 35 percent.

Raising taxes on the very rich has been a rare policy that President Donald Trump has publicly espoused throughout much of his life. On Tuesday, he told the Wall Street Journal, “If there’s upward revision it’s going to be on high-income people.”

“I have wealthy friends that say to me, ‘I don’t mind paying more tax,’” he said. White House spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders was pressed on Trump’s comment at a televised briefing Wednesday, and said that further specifics of the plan would be released shortly, with an emphasis on tax cuts for the middle class.

The blatant omission here, for me at least, is zero mention of capital gains taxes. This increase is going to hit moderately wealthy people harder than the extremely wealthy, who make most of their money from capital gains.
I’m actually more in favor of increasing capital gains tax rates on higher income individuals. I have worked for small companies where the owner is actively involved in the day to day operations of the business. I’d like to see if businesses like that were taxed less than what I call ‘sit on your ass money’, if there would be more investment in ‘brick and mortar’ local businesses. It’s too easy to come out ahead playing the Wall Street casino, with capital gains tax rates so low. Increasing those taxes, combined with a per transaction excise tax, would have to move more money into businesses, which would improve job growth.

  3. And so begins the hive relocation program.
I think they will be less exposed to the chemicals that afflict the beautiful lawn people where they are going.
So I have to drive a little
It was more fun being able to walk out into the back yard and just watch the girls..
You know what’s more fun than moving hives?
Moving hives in a down pour.
It’s raining like hell and they’re stinging through the suit.
    They are very pissed off.
I have to really bite my tongue dealing with some of these people.
“The lawn care people would never poison your hives”
Everything on that lawn truck is toxic as hell and it will be a miracle if that lawn guy makes it to old age without nerve damage or renal failure.
