Oh, christ, we’re watching the video of Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz of San Juan, PR – how is even this slimy incompetent excuse for an administration NOT GETTING THAT THIS LIFE-AND-DEATH! Does someone have to sit our richie-rich cabinetry down to watch ‘Survivor’, and explain that Puerto Rico is like that, but worse? Does Lassie need to bark at them all to come and help?
I cannot believe that our country has sunk so low. Fucking PARTY UBER ALLES – when the fuck are even the dumbest of citizens going to recognize that Republicans let a treasonous madman into our White House, and that madman and his rich-but-never-rich-enough madmen buddies are ripping off all of us little taxpayers and laughing all the way to Fort Knox to visit our, oops Yoink! their money.

According to Dante’s ‘Inferno’, there are nine circles of hell, in this order:

The First Circle is reserved, of course, for all those who are virtuous non-Christians (like me) or unbaptized Pagans (e.g. my dad). We get to spend eternity in an inferior sort of heaven. The other eight circles of hell are clearly reserved for Donald Trump, his compatriots and his supporters.
San Juan’s Mayor, OTOH, will wind up in any one of Dante’s nine circles of heaven, aka the “nine levels of angelic harmony.” And when it happens, Trump will be, of course, really pissed, really ANGRY! and will shout “YOU’RE FIRED!” as she looks down on him and smiles.

Dickerson interviewed Paul Ryan in a warehouse that was described as a machine shop, on Face the Nation. I saw no machines. Ryan did his usual whining about how US companies pay higher taxes than foreign competitors, without comparing how much more military our companies must support than those foreign companies.
The Trump apologists are whining about Puerto Rico didn’t have a good infrastructure before the hurricane, as if that would still be in existence now.
To start with, I don’t think Trump even knew that Puerto Rico was part of the US, and I still don’t think he cares if they recover, since they didn’t help him get elected.
Trump grew up in New York, was raised by a racist father. When I was in college in AZ some fifty-plus years ago (when Trump was still a teeny-bopper) I learned — from a metro NYC classmate who had also escaped to AZ — that at least in those days, all the Puerto Ricans in NY (and there were a LOT) were known as ‘Spics.’ Kinda like Kikes (Jews), Wops (Italians), Ni**ers (all blacks), Chewys (Mexicans) . . . the list of names was endless, and mostly vitriolic. But the bottom line remained: they weren’t “white” like genuine Amurkkkans were. Today, I’m betting that Trump has to really work hard at NOT using those insulting names in general, and now — with Puerto Rico on the front page — in particular.
Racial and ethnic fear/hatred so often do — sadly — define what this country is all about. And Trump has become the best and loudest messenger of that POV that I’ve seen in my lifetime. And it is, of course, really neat that he can play golf whenever he wants and still be able to tweet out those irrational hates and fears, each and all aimed at Puerto Rico and alladem lazy Spics down there.
I mean, what more could any one of us really hope for in our President?

Since Puerto Ricans are U.S. citizens if they move to a state can they then vote? Or, if Puerto Ricans had an address in a state to claim as their primary residence they could vote.

I had told my brother, Bobby, about the aforementioned local “Anthem Rally” – here’s his commentary:
“OK. We did a drive by the rally, at the corner of Main and Fair Streets in Carmel. I’d say there were between 200 and 300 people there. Don’t be shocked, but I didn’t see a single black or brown person. All age groups were represented, with more than a few veteran type caps and jackets being worn.
It is sad and unfortunate, and yes, frightening that so many Americans are so easily baited into thinking that any form of dissent is unpatriotic or even treasonous (unlike, say, colluding with a hostile foreign government to usurp our democratic process and “elect” a would be dictator). And then there’s the fact that the scattered knee taking around the NFL was well below radar until Trump apparently convinced his supporters that THIS is what’s wrong with America.
I’m surprised that there is little discussion of the 2009 partnering of the NFL with DoD to market the military brand of patriotism with honor guards, fly-overs and giant flags as a prelude to large men battering each others brains to jelly (or, in the words of Kent Brockman, “sweet, sweet goo”).
I really doubt that any of the people at the Carmel rally ever once questioned why we sing the national anthem before sporting events that have nothing to do with god, country or patriotism. I also doubt that anyone watching at home or in a bar actually stands up and sings along.”
To me, the grand irony is that a somber and non-violent action, performed solely to represent the seeking of genuine and universal equality amongst all peoples …
… is considered to be, by far too many, an act of treason.
This was what they call in tennis, an unforced error. Unless they get this reauthorized quickly, it’s going to be another millstone around their necks in 2018. We may make the wave elections of 2006 and 2010 look mild by comparison.
