Daily Gnuz

Here’s whatz in the gnuz this Mondayish Morning:

Smerconish says Corker’s Building A 25th Amendment Case
H/T C&L
Even though this tack hasn’t got a chance of being carrier out by the bootlicking Republican Congress, it’s nice to see the Senator from Tennessee getting a roundhouse right to the ample gut of HWSNBN. (He who should not be named)…

And

Trump reignites NFL protest controversy by ordering Mike Pence to leave a Colts game
H/T Vox
Hilarious, but taxpayer costly (to the tune of $200,000) Kabuki theater, demonstrating the depths to which the Vice President will abase himself to ingratiate and pay fealty to HWSNBN. On a brighter note, he escaped having to watch two of the worst football teams play an hour of crapball.

Finally,

H/T The Hill
Crunch time, as in nut-cracker if they don’t somehow manage to pass something, anything, a tax cut, tax reform, tax man, no, wait, that’s a Beatles song…

Open Thread, survive the week, resist.

      • No, but you will have to stand in front of your teevee machine while the national anthem plays or Donald will tweet mean things about you.

        • Howza bout I slouch on the couch and tweet about what an asshole HWSNBN is.
          Just a reminder, since I scroogled it…
Conduct during a rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed:

          (A) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note;

          (B) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and

          (C) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and

          (2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

The key word here is “should,” according to legal experts, which stops short of “shall” or “must.”

So I SHOULD make sure that I do the exact opposite of what HWSNBN recommends, demands, whines, cries or pukes over.

          • Hell, I remember going to a Mets game where the female singer (whose name I never heard) sounded drunk or something when she attempted to start singing the national anthem. She got booed off the field (New Yorkers are a tough crowd.) And I doubt if anyone in the stands was facing the flag with their hand over their heart. Take THAT, flag and national anthem!

Of course, that was back in the carefree days before 9/11. (sigh)

            • There’s two sides or more to every topic.
Funny how we have such a double standard of convenience.

          • The national anthem has been “performed” by every self absorbed celebrity with the results being everything thing from awful, to holy shit I wish I were deaf.
We need to get over this fake nationalism and focus on the real problems this country faces.

  1. The E.P.A. chief plans to repeal President Obama’s signature climate policy, setting up a fight over U.S. efforts to tackle global warming

The bad news: Republican continue to act on Trump’s sole goal as POTUS, i.e. to completely undo and destroy the accomplishments and legacy of that ‘illegitimate ni**er’ presidency so as to show the world that whites is way better.

The good news: with each and every such ‘accomplishment,’ the Trumpisstas move the entire human species one step closer to that grandest of all cosmic goals: the mass extinction of galactic stupidity … BY the galactically stupid (Republicans, i.o.w.).

    • It’s funny that Nixon, one of our crookedest presidents up to this point enacted the EPA.
      Yeah the war is over.
      Coal lost.
Coal is expensive and messy on both ends.
Mining and disposal of tailings and ash.
Why must everything be a god dammed war?
      What a fucked up mindset.

  2. Heh

    • Yes, sorry I keep leaving the crypto key in the closet.
He Who Should Not Be Named, due to the fact that he thrives on seeing his name, well, named….

    • Gorgeous photos. BTW, the icon that the author of that post is the Vietnam Service Medal. The flag of the Republic of South Vietnam
