Rachel Maddow Interviews John Brennan

Rachel interviewed John Brennan, for Director of the CIA under President Obama, on Friday’s show.  Brennan lost his security clearance this week, when the current occupant of the White House revoked his clearance for being a big ol’ meanie.

Like Rachel, I have not been a great supporter of Brennan in the past (remember rendition?), however, I do support his current actions of speaking truth to power to this GOP/Russia-owned administration.

Anyhoo, if you have about 35 minutes, give this interview a listen.  I love it when, around the 25 minute mark, Brennan hesitates a moment, and then says the unstable orange chucklehead is “drunk with power.”  Don’t get me wrong, that statement is scary as shit, but seeing a man, who is normally so careful with his speech, produce those words on national teevee does my heart good.

Open thread, y’all. What’s on your mind?

  1. I studied the Russian language for six + years.
It may come in handy after all.
Anyone who has ever had to deal with Russians is seriously deluding themselves if they think they are legitimate business people. They are so corrupt and dirty that’s all they know.
Bribery? Murder? Extortion? All in a days work.
This is going to be an interesting administration to dissect or autopsy, I’m not sure which word to use yet.
I’m going to lean towards autopsy.

  2. Michael Cohen’s lawyer (Lanny Davis) says he’s talking to Watergate’s John Dean

The attorney representing President Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen said he’s been seeking guidance from President Nixon’s ex-counsel.

Lanny Davis told Politico on Sunday that he had reached out to John Dean, the former White House counsel who became a key witness in the Watergate scandal after pleading guilty to a single count of obstruction of justice.

“I reached out to my old friend John Dean because of what he went through with Watergate, and I saw some parallels to what Michael Cohen is experiencing,” Davis told the outlet.

Is Cohen wanting tips on a plea deal? Is this why Trump is calling John Dean a ‘rat’?

    • Hee hee hee!! I knew Rumpy was calling John Dean a rat, but I didn’t know Lanny Davis was meeting with Dean.

Rumpy’s gotta be squirming like a day-glo orange maggot!! 😆

  3. I just cleared my cookies, cache and history on this tablet, and I have been having trouble with the browser crashing when I try to log in. Before I tried this time, I scrolled down, and found a permission I had to grant for the use of site cookies. After I accepted, it let me log in properly. I have noticed permissions like this on some sites, even if I didn’t need to log in. I just wonder if this is new, and could have been what was vexing BnF on his login? He was able to log in as Iolair, but without admin access, so it’s hard to compare without him here.

    • I’ve noticed that thing at the bottom of my screen, but have just ignored it. Seems to work for me. I didn’t know BnF was having troubles, but I’ll try to track him down on FB and see if I can do anything.

<a href=“Hannity Compares Robert Mueller To Stalin”>Hannity Compares Robert Mueller To Stalin

Sean Hannity is terribly worried about the rule of law, all of a sudden.

Sean HannITY (HOST) speaks [Transcript via Media Matters]:

Joseph Stalin’s secret police chief once famously proclaimed, quote “Show me the man, I will show you the crime.” Those are chilling words, and the opposite of how the American justice system is supposed to operate. Our system is designed to prosecute crimes, not persecute individuals we disagree with. We live in a constitutional republic. We are supposed to have equal justice under the law and the equal application of our laws. Tonight in the United States this is all in jeopardy. After more than 15 months of intensive investigations surrounding one man, the president of the United States, more and more Americans rightly are realizing that Mueller’s seemingly never-ending witch hunt is not only damaging the country, but it is rocking our system of justice to its very core.

  5. An oldie, but a goodie.

Trump Warned of Endless Clinton Investigations. Instead, the Focus Is on Him

“There’s virtually no doubt that FBI Director Comey and the great, great special agents of the FBI will be able to collect more than enough evidence to garner indictments against Hillary Clinton and her inner circle, despite her efforts to disparage them and to discredit them. If she were to win this election, it would create an unprecedented constitutional crisis. In that situation, we could very well have a sitting president under felony indictment and ultimately a criminal trial.”

  6. Robert Reich has proposed doing away with Trump’s illegitimate presidency by annulment. I recall annulment of a marriage required that the marriage hadn’t been consummated. Since right now I am feeling pretty consummated, I don’t think this is going to work.

    • Please don’t do that when I have a mouth full of coffee.
Now I’m wiping off my screen and cackling like a hyena.
