VOTE !

Back in 2016, I posted this prior to Election Day. A friend found me the video, so here it is:

I feel this is even more appropriate this year than it was back then, although that was really the beginning that is culminating in today’s choice between good and evil.

And here’s the Lincoln Project’s “America the Beautiful” ad – see if Ray Charles’ version of “America” doesn’t bring a tear to your eye.

That’s it. I can’t say or do anything more to change the tide of history, except to vote this evening with Wayne. Hopefully, this time America will stop its slide into hell.

If you haven’t voted yet, VOTE TODAY!

  1. Other than when I was in the army, I’ve always voted the day-of. So this is essentially the 1st time I voted in advance (well in advance — 22 days ago; confirmed my vote received & recorded 20 days ago.) I confess it has felt odd to have sent the last 3 weeks watching things continue “without me,” as it were.

    • I can’t remember if they said they might have an update on the count later tonight. I may be confusing PA with AZ. Or maybe NV? It’s just all been so crazy.

And now Rachel Maddow is saying that PA might be finished tomorrow.

  2. Dawsonville, Georgia Pool Hall.
Watching the Nascar race at Phoenix, to root on Chase Elliot to the Championship. The place is wall to wall people, and I saw no masks in the crowd. Even one asymptomatic positive case in there, could be fatal for who knows how many.

    • Unbelievable. I truly despair that we’ll never be rid of COVID, and I know that neither Wayne nor I would survive if we were infected.

How people could watch what we went through in NY, CA and WA at the beginning, and not learn fuck-all from it, is beyond me.

I hate to sound so despondent, after the pure joy of ousting trump in January, but as long as there are trumpists and other idiots, we may yet be on the way to, what did frugal chariot refer to it as, ‘sixth-level mass extinction’?

  3. Commentary from “The Independent” on Rudi’s presser at “The Four Seasons”.

    Here’s an excerpt:

“Across the street from Four Seasons Total Landscaping was a crematorium. Next door to it was an adult book store with a bright yellow sign that displayed its offerings: DVDs and lotions, novelty gifts, viewing booths. It was called Fantasy Island. In retrospect, it was an omen of what was to come.”

    • Just saw him on MSNBC, l noticed that although he looked tired still, he’s been looking much more relaxed since Biden was declared the winner. I think we all probably have the same look, exhausted but relieved.

  4. Hmmm…

  5. “America’s Mayor”, Mr. “noun, verb, 9/11” (I believe we have Joe Biden to thank for that line?), the one, the only (thank FSM), RUDI!:
