As you seem to have found out by now, this is a shiny new blog attracting people. I’m a person, and I was attracted to it. Seems this blog could be about politics and stuff. Well, what’s the first thing that pops into your minds when the word “politics” is mentioned? Feel free to use nonsense and profanity.
I would like to also report those folks who post on TP regularly are super cool, intelligent, and know how to have fun. I haven’t partied that hard since my fraternity days in college. The TP group made me eat the worm. I hear some people post in their birthday suits…
UPDATE: In honor of TheZoo’s one year anniversary, over the next couple of days we will be re-posting some of our favorite “oldies.”
This post by ForTruthinessDave was our first public post, and it kind of set the tone for our little blog.
I hope you enjoy our trip down memory lane. 🙂
This video clip is way too long but eating what will most likely be my last crab of the summer, I got to wondering what foods others associate with summer. As kids my family would buy crabs by the bushel and have massive backyard feeds. You can’t get the sizes we used to but still a sunny day, lots of cold beer, and some “beautiful swimmers” means summer!
This article from Yahoo highlights the concerns African Americans are voicing. There is concern for the safety of Obama. Lets face it. There’s a lot of extremist types and lets not forget the entire establishment. I’m a white guy, and I’ve been concerned about this for a couple of months. Pam Hart, the principal of a multiracial elementary school in the Philadelphia suburb of Cheltenham:
“My 70-year-old aunt — every time I call her, she says she’s really afraid Obama is going to be assassinated. She is so worried that history will repeat itself,” said Hart, who is 40. “I understand why she’s afraid, but I feel we live in a different world now.”
This Thanksgiving eve, CNN buries story of stock market closing at a 7 month low.
The Dow Jones industrial average lost 211 points or 1.6 percent. That set the Dow at its lowest point since April 17, when it ended the session at 12,773.04.
The S&P 500 index lost 1.6 percent and the Nasdaq composite lost 1.3 percent.
The stock selloff was very broad, with homebuilders, banks, mortgage lenders and technology shares leading the decline.
Treasury prices surged, lowering the corresponding yields, with the benchmark 10-year note falling below 4 percent during the session, a more than two-year low. Oil prices ended lower after hitting a record in electronic trading.
Front and center, we have the resurrection of the Natalie Hollaway story. Gotta love the stories about missing blonde girls.
Authorities have re-arrested three men in connection with the disappearance of an Alabama teenager in Aruba in 2005, based on new evidence in the case, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Maybe people will spend more money they don’t have, if the MSM buries the story.
“Ms Rice said she wanted to hear from local activists about the state of human rights and democracy in Russia.”
How about hearing from some local activists here in America?
And to top it off, the talks regarding the US ambition to build a missle defense shield in Eastern Europe, ended without any sign of progress.
Way to go Condi, not.
For some reason I just don’t believe Mr. McCain. McCain has said many things. Here’s the link. He was speaking to an audience.
Later, McCain said, “I would vote for a Muslim if he or she was the candidate best able to lead the country and defend our political values.”
This is totally cool.
I’m sure someone is taking issue with this. Like PeTa or something.

Even the personal items you carry with you while traveling are documented by the US government. According to an article by the Washington Post.
I agree that power like this can easily become abused. It is required we maintain the ability to have appropriate checks and balances in place.
The federal government is trying to build a surveillance society,” said John Gilmore, a civil liberties activist in San Francisco whose records were requested by the
Identity Project, an ad-hoc group of privacy advocates in California and Alaska. The government, he said, “may be doing it with the best or worst of intentions. … But the job of building a surveillance database and populating it with information about us is happening largely without our awareness and without our consent.”
However, if you don’t travel much, it seems whatever information has been obtained on you would be very miniscule.

Iraqi Prime Minister, Nori Al Maliki, wants Blackwater out of Iraq. That’s all well and good, however, the reality of economic interests, and necessity need to be considered. I found the numbers in the article to be seemingly low. The estimates for overall private security in Iraq is a force of 25,000. About 1,000 are Blackwater employees. A congressional report estimated 200 private security guards have died. However, at the very end of the article:
Al Quds Al Arabi wrote: “A lot of analysts believe that the Iraqi government cannot stop issuing licenses to these companies as they provide security to diplomatic delegations, and a lot of Iraqi officials.”
Al Khaleej, based in the United Arab Emirates, accused those behind the incidents of being members of the Israeli secret service, Mossad.
The money talks, and so do the political connections. Lets see how this turns out.
Recently retired federal judge,
Michael B. Mukasey, 66, was nominated to the bench in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan, and was chief judge until September 2006 for the Southern District of New York — a high-profile U.S. court district that’s one of the nation’s busiest.
Apparently Mukasey is a leading nominee for AG according to two sources who have remained anonymous.
CNN has the story.
It’s probably no surprise that a report shows religious freedoms in Iraq are more restricted than before the invasion. This report will be coming out of Condoleeza Rice’s office. In the 22 page report, it states all religious sects are suffering in Iraq, and it is not limited to Sunni and Shia Muslims.
“The ongoing insurgency significantly harmed the ability of all religious believers to practice their faith,” says the 22-page executive summary of the report, obtained by The Associated Press ahead of its official release by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
In thinking about this, the neo-turds might be happy, as they hate any religion besides Christianity. I’m sure the neo-turds could spin this into something positive. I wonder if Condi will comment on this report upon it’s release?
Apparently the MSM and Pentagon need to milk out the recent 9/11 anniversary. In a newly released audio tape, we get recycled information regarding Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the purported “mastermind” behind 9/11. I could have sworn the mastermind was some other guy named Osama Bin Laden. Mohammed was quoted in a written statement “I was responsible for 9/11 from A-Z”. Interesting he uses the non-Arabic alphabet to illustrate his mastermindedness.

Senate Democrats and so called fearless leader, Harry Reid, called for Republicans to get out of lockstep with the Bush Administration. In an effort to attract Republican votes, a new war bill has essentially become retarded, with no stipulations for withdrawal.
Their proposal was not expected to set a deadline to end the war, as many Democrats want, but restrict troops to narrow objectives: training Iraq’s military and police, protecting U.S. assets and fighting terrorists, Democratic party officials told The Associated Press
Peeing in the wind still has the same result as peeing in your pants.

According to Steven Cohen of Hebrew Union College, just over half, 54%, of US Jews under the age of 35 are comfortable with an Isreali state. Compared to an almost 40% increase in the over-65 age group of US Jews.
In general U.S. Jews “have increasingly adopted the American idea of what it means to be Jewish — primarily a religious identity,” Steven Cohen of Hebrew Union College, co-author of the study, said in an interview.
“The decline in attachment is widespread. It doesn’t depend on how you measure it,” Cohen added, with the disengagement no different among political liberals or conservatives.
The story in full, is here.
The powerful Jewish-American lobby doesn’t seem affected by this trend.

On the more lighthearted side, it seems Bill Clinton is taking the higher road. Sen. Craig was a total dick to Clinton during the impeachment hearings. Hey I can admit ol’ Bubba understands the nature of being caught up in a sex scandal.
WASHINGTON (CNN) – Embattled Sen. Larry Craig was one of Bill Clinton’s fiercest critics during the Senate’s 1999 impeachment trial, but the former president told CNN’s Larry King Wednesday he takes no pleasure in the Idaho Republican’s current situation and is “pulling” for Craig and his family.
“Honestly, didn’t feel any great joy,” Clinton said in an interview to air tonight at 9 p.m. ET. “When it was going on I knew that a lot of them were outed for hypocrisy before this.”

The latest development in the ongoing saga:
I sit down to go to the bathroom, and you said our feet bumped,” Craig told an officer. “I believe they did … because I reached down and scooted over and the next thing I knew, under the bathroom divider comes a card that says ‘police'”.
Sen. Larry Craig(R), is now alleging the Minneapolis Police Department has entrapped him. Also during the 8 minute taped session, the officer accused the Senator of lying to him, and expressed his disappointment in the elected official.
“I’m just disappointed in you, sir,” the officer said. “I mean, people vote for you.”
Maybe it was a liberal conspiracy by that liberal state of Minnesota.
Seems we now have a mugshot of Senator Craig(R). He looks kinda scary there.
Just keeping up the pressure to get Craig(R) to leave the United States Senate.

Famed crazy astronaut, Lisa Nowak, filed notice of insanity plea.
I don’t know why this is fascinating to me. I believe it’s because a person can make it all the way through the ranks of the military, become an astronaut, fly missions, then become crazy after all that. It’s mind blowing. And she’s kinda cute.
Here’s the link
