The year 2016 has been pretty rough on the music world. It’s too depressing to make a list of the amazing artists who’ve slipped the mortal coil…
Let’s Go Crazy is my favorite Prince song; it’s just SO perfectly Prince. Purple Rain is the iconic Prince song, but Let’s Go Crazy — to me — is Prince & friends having a shitload of fun making great music.
Speaking of Purple Rain, Bruce Springsteen opened his most recent show with a tribute to Prince Rogers Nelson.
I truly hope that Prince made arrangements for his unreleased music to come out over the next few years.

Today makes 5 days without electricity from the power company that serves our area. The most aggravating part is that our neighbors have power but we don’t. If it wasn’t for our Honda generator, we wouldn’t have water or heat and all of our perishable food would spoil.
In an effort to cheer myself up, I decided to post this song. This has always been one of my favorite songs by The Boss. I hope this week’s experience doesn’t spoil it for me.
Did you see the President’s speech accepting the Democratic nomination for President? Did you, huh huh? It was fantastic!

This is our daily open thread — Happy happy Friday!!!

And some bloodshot drunken sot whispers Pappy’s within earshot, save the buckshot, don’t play your hand
Yes, we were blinded by the right,
Oh, got juiced by a ruse, another rumor in the night Continue reading →
Both of these videos originally aired last fall but they’re very relevant if you haven’t seen them. The 60 Minutes interview was on again this evening. Scott Pelley suggested some people might view Springsteen as unpatriotic because of his views. The nerve.
Our rockers have to do the job our journalists won’t.
