Dennis J. Kucinich, Democratic Congressman for Ohio’s 10th District, seeks to eliminate federal money used to support a virtual reality warfare game used by the United States Army to lure in new recruits.
The Army’s traveling virtual reality experience which glorifies killing; costs an estimated $9.8 million to run.
Six fully-armed military vehicles, 70 flat screen displays, 50 players. It’s 19,500 square feet of video game firepower, and the Army has aimed this beast directly at America’s youth. The Virtual Army Experience represents one of the latest examples of how the military has embraced video games both as a training, and especially, a recruitment tool. The traveling Virtual Army Experience allows recruitable teens to run through a simulated mission to deliver supplies to aid workers in a fictional city. It also lets them wield laser guns and show off their driving skills against virtual opponents.
Under the fold is a video that shows the Army’s VAE (Virtual Army Experience). After watching the video, I can completely understand why he opposes this propaganda so much.
Dennis Kucinich is explaining why he put in HR444, “which says we have to have a national policy – which states that the maintenance of steel, automotive, aerospace and shipping are vital to our national economic security and our national defense.”
” We can not be a free nation if we don’t have the ability to make things.” He further states, “How can we defend a country if you can’t make cars, you can’t make planes and you can’t produce steel.” “This is a national security issue.”

DFAS takes away Contract from Lockheed Martin, Government to Perform Services
Following a relentless effort by Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) to challenge the Bush administration’s efforts to privatize Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) jobs since 2001, DFAS today announced that that it will cancel agreements with Lockheed Martin and employ government workers to perform all areas of retroactive pay and benefits for veterans.
“This is a great day for veterans and a victory for government oversight. This decision will finally end the six-year nightmare of privatization of retired and annuitant pay services that resulted in the degradation of services to veterans and an increased cost to taxpayers. I thank Director McKay and Comptroller Robert Hale for their choice to serve veterans first, rather than perpetuate a lucrative contract with the nation’s largest military contractor,” stated Kucinich
The number of uninsured has grown to approximately 50 million. Some of the uninsured are working two or three jobs, many are self-employed and that doesn’t leave them much time to become active in politics. Who ever heard of an altruistic politician? Not I. Consequently, what is the likelihood of a Congressman helping the uninsured, when there is no gain or benefit for him? They are easily lured by large insurance companies bending over backwards to line their pockets, send them on extravagant junkets, and help them get re-elected. Not much of a fair competition, since we can’t clone Dennis Kucinich. Meanwhile, free clinics are doing the best they can to fill the medical void.
The clinic provides free medical and dental services and medicine for the working poor – people who have no insurance but earn too much to qualify for federal or state programs.
More Americans losing their jobs and health insurance are turning to volunteer-run free clinics and government-funded community health centers for free or low-cost medical care. The safety net is being strained as demand grows and budgets shrink.
For every 1 percentage point rise in unemployment, the number of uninsured people increases by 1.1 million, according to Families USA, a health-reform advocacy group. The U.S. unemployment rate is 8.5%.
Community health centers are funded by states and the federal government and provide services to the poor, regardless of insurance. Patients receive free services or pay on a sliding scale based on their income.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich went on the House floor on January 7, 2009 and made a statement concerning the fighting in Gaza.
“We cannot truly celebrate a New Year, a new Congress and a new administration if all we see is the same old destruction in the Middle East with US weapons being illegally used to kill children.
“I oppose Hamas’ rocket attacks on Israel. The rocket attacks, even to try to end the blockade, have no moral justification, are illegal and must stop.
“But how can Israel claim self defense when it bombs Gaza which has no army, no air force, no navy and has been under a constant blockade?
“How can Israel claim self defense when its bombs destroy UN schools, killing children?
“The children of Palestinians and the children of Israel both deserve life. But the lives of the children of Gaza are cynically discounted as “human shields”. Massacres are being rationalized. Israel’s “moral high ground” in Gaza, a growing pile of small bones in a graveyard.
“The Administration knows Israel is using US weapons, paid for by US taxpayers, with disproportionate force creating a collective punishment of Gazans, assuring an escalation of conflict, clear violations of the Arms Export Control Act.
“Israel was given U.S. weapons on condition they would not be used for aggression or escalation. The outgoing Administration must finally stand for the rule of law, not the rule of force.”
Congressman Kucinich has made several statements over the last week concerning the fighting in Gaza.
“The $700 billion bailout for Wall Street is driven by fear, not fact,” Kucinich said on the House floor Sunday. “This is too much money in too a short a time going to too few people while too many questions remain unanswered. Why aren’t we having hearings on the plan we have just received? Why aren’t we questioning the underlying premise of the need for a bailout with taxpayers’ money? Why have we not considered any alternatives other than to give $700 billion to Wall Street? Why aren’t we asking Wall Street to clean up its own mess? Why aren’t we passing new laws to stop the speculation, which triggered this? Why aren’t we putting up new regulatory structures to protect investors? How do we even value the $700 billion in toxic assets?”

America must move from the errant, retributive justice of 9/11 to a healing, restorative process of truth and reconciliation.
Before the Congress adjourns, I will bring forth a new proposal for the establishment of a National Commission on Truth and Reconciliation, which will have the power to compel testimony and gather official documents to reveal to the American people not only the underlying deception which has divided us, but in that process of truth seeking set our nation on a path of reconciliation.
He might not have had the marquee billing of a Mark Warner or a Hillary Clinton, but Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) nonetheless whipped his party faithful into a frenzy Tuesday evening.
The Ohio lawmaker and liberal stalwart who earlier sought the Democratic presidential nomination delivered a passionate address calling on those in the audience here in Denver at watching at home to “wake up” and prevent another four years of Republican rule.
“Wake up America,” Kucinich declared from the podium of the Democratic National Convention. “In 2001 the oil companies, the war contractors and the neocon-artists seized the economy and added $4 trillion of unproductive spending to the national debt. … Trillions of dollars for an unnecessary war paid for with borrowed money.”

Resolved, that President George W. Bush be impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following Article of Impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:
An Article of Impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its impeachment against President George W. Bush for high crimes and misdemeanors.
DECEIVING CONGRESS WITH FABRICATED THREATS OF IRAQ WMDs TO FRAUDULENTLY OBTAIN SUPPORT FOR AN AUTHORIZATION OF THE USE OF MILITARY FORCE AGAINST IRAQ.
In his conduct while President of the United States, George W. Bush, in violation of his constitutional oath to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of his constitutional duty under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution “to take care that the laws be faithfully executed,” deceived Congress with fabricated threats of Iraq Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) to fraudulently obtain support for an authorization for the use of force against Iraq and used that fraudulently obtained authorization, then acting in his capacity under Article II, Section II of the Constitution as Commander in Chief, to commit US troops to combat in Iraq.
The former Democratic presidential candidate introduced a single article to impeach President Bush, accusing him of deceiving Congress to convince lawmakers to authorize his invasion of Iraq more than five years ago.
“Yesterday in the House, we had a moment of silence for the troops,” Kucinich said during a Capitol Hill press conference. “Today it is time to speak out on behalf of those troops who will be in Iraq for at least another year, courageously representing our nation while their Commander-in-Chief sent them on a mission that was based on falsehoods about the threat of WMDs from Iraq.”
“This is a Judiciary Committee matter, and I believe we will see some attention being paid to it by the Judiciary Committee,” Pelosi told reporters. “Not necessarily taking up the articles of impeachment because that would have to be approved on the floor, but to have some hearings on the subject.”
Pelosi added: “My expectation is that there will be some review of that in the committee.”
That’s an expert translation from the “Weasel to English” dictionary. I’m not holding my breath.
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) is sticking to his drive to impeach President Bush.
Few in the House of Representatives have any intention of doing anything with the last 35 articles of impeachment Kucinich set before them last month, so the former presidential candidate appears to be lightening the load. Kucinich sent a letter to colleagues Tuesday asking them to support a single article of impeachment, to be introduced Thursday, which accuses President Bush of leading the country to war based on lies.
[Dennis] Kucinich has released an Independence Day message which invokes the words of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address to urge support for impeachment and the restoration of the rule of law.
“Some Democratic leaders say impeachment’s off the table,” Kucinich begins. “So let’s set a new table for our nation, upon which we place the Constitution, and where we demand that all those who’ve taken an oath to defend it keep their promise and protect our nation from the threat within. Please go to kucinich.us now and sign the petition which calls for impeachment. This is the one petition that will make a difference because I will be personally delivering it to your member of Congress.”
“Two hundred thirty two years ago, our nation was ‘conceived in liberty,’ continues Kucinich, quoting Lincoln’s famous phrase. “We have once again reached a moment of truth, one that Lincoln recognized at Gettysburg, as to ‘whether this nation, or any nation so conceived or so dedicated, can long endure.'”
“Through the ashes of the Civil War,” he goes on, “Lincoln prayed ‘that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom and that government of the people, by the people, and for the people shall not perish from the earth.’ This 4th of July 2008, we face a different kind of war, one which is trying our souls, a war based on lies.”
“With the power of truth, the power of the people,” Kucinich concludes, “we can achieve a new birth of freedom.” As the strains of “America the Beautiful” swell in the background, he urges, “Be the answer to Lincoln’s prayer. Please pledge your support now for restoring the rule of law in America. As we once again celebrate Independence Day, let us celebrate freedom from fear and pledge that this government of the people will survive in this land that we love.”
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), two days after presenting 35 articles of impeachment against President George W. Bush, urged in a statement that a key House committee commence examination of the articles.
“It is now imperative that the Judiciary Committee begin a review of the 35 articles,” said Kucinich. “I will be providing supporting documentation to the committee so that it can proceed in an orderly manner.
“The weight of evidence contained in the Articles makes it clear that President Bush violated the Constitution and the US Code as well as international law,” said the Ohio lawmaker, whose efforts to impeach Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have been largely ignored by the mainstream media.
The House of Representatives approved Kucinich’s motion today to refer the articles of impeachment to the Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI). Kucinich said on Wednesday that he would meet with Conyers this week.
Conyers has not been supportive of impeachment, and the articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney are currently stalled in committee.

“It is the House’s responsibility as a co-equal branch of government to provide an effective check and balance to executive abuse of power,” Kucinich continued in the statement. “President Bush was principally responsible for directing the United States Armed Forces to attack Iraq.
“I believe that there is sufficient evidence in the Articles to support the charge that President Bush allowed, authorized and sanctioned the manipulation of intelligence by those acting under his direction and control, misleading Congress to approve a resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq.
“As a result over 4,000 United States soldiers have died in combat in Iraq, with tens of thousands injured, many of them permanently impaired,” explained Kucinich. “Over a million innocent Iraqis have perished in a war which was based on lies, a war which will cost the American taxpayers as much as three trillion dollars.”
If the articles of impeachment are not acted upon in committee within 30 days, Kucinich promises to present his resolution again: “Leadership wants to bury it, but this is one resolution that will be coming back from the dead. … I will be bringing the resolution up again, and I won’t be the only one reading it.”
Kucinich closed in his statement, “We must not only create an historical record of the misconduct of the Bush administration, but we must make sure that any future administration is forewarned about the constitutionally proscribed limits of executive authority and exercise of power contravening the Constitution.”

Stalwart liberal Rep. Robert Wexler (D-FL) became the first member of Congress to co-sponsor Rep. Dennis Kucinich’s resolution calling for President Bush’s impeachment.
“President Bush deliberately created a massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people and the charges detailed in this impeachment resolution indicate an unprecedented abuse of executive power,” Wexler said in a news release. “A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty. It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this Administration. Our Founding Fathers bestowed upon Congress the power of impeachment, and it is now time that we use it to defend the rule of law from this corrupt Administration.”
Kucinich introduced 35 articles of impeachment Monday night, and the House is expected to vote on them Tuesday.

Dennis Kucinich read these Article of Impeachment into the Congressional Record last night, to an empty House of Representatives. I’ve been cruising around the televised Corporate Media this morning, and have been shamed to find no mention of this event. Kucinich Overcomes Tough Challenge in Ohio Congressional Race

Dennis Kucinich may not be a presidential contender, but he is still a winner among his Cleveland constituents.
The Ohio liberal won 50 percent of the vote in a five-way Democratic congressional primary Tuesday, beating back critics who said he ignored business at home to travel the country in his quest to be president.
The six-term incumbent will face former state Rep. Jim Trakas, who won 80 percent of Republican votes cast in the northeast Ohio district. Kucinich’s race was the best-known congressional contest on ballots in Ohio and Texas on Tuesday.

After a poll placed Kucinich at 4%, he was uninvited when CNN quickly announced the criterion of 5% for participation in its next debate in South Carolina. The Kucinich campaign released this statement: “CNN sets debate criteria 1% above Kucinich’s latest poll results, campaign files complaint with FCC,” arguing that the event “is not a true presidential primary debate without including all credible candidates.”

Nevada’s Supreme Court upheld NBC’s exclusion of presidential contender Dennis Kucinich from MSNBC’s Democrats’ debate. But the TV network’s own appeal to the court reveals that its managers changed the program’s qualification rules — a move that threw Kucinich off the program.
An NBC Emergency Petition’s “statement of facts” filed today admits that Kucinich may have qualified for the debate under the rules outlined by Democratic party consultant Jenny Backus. Those guidelines said that a candidate had to finish in at least fourth place in the New Hampshire primary or Iowa Caucus to participate in the January 15th debate.
A candidate could also qualify by being included “in the top four in one of six credible random-sample telephone national news media polls conducted since the Iowa Caucus.”
NBC’s statement acknowledges that in a Gallup Poll completed soon after the Iowa Caucus, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama received the support of 33 percent of those polled, John Edwards obtained 20%, and Kucinich won 3%. New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson picked up only 1% of those surveyed.
This was wrong and should not have happened.
