“Joe the Plumber” Confronted By Union Workers – Is Stumped On Policy

Joe the Plumber is hitting the campaign trail again! He’s been pressed into service to do a series of events throughout Pennsylvania rallying opposition to the Employee Free Choice Act, the organizer of the events confirms.

Mr. Plumber will speak at rallies against the measure in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia on March 30th and 31st, according to a spokesperson for the anti-EFCA group Americans for Prosperity.

Update: AFL-CIO spokesman Eddie Vale emails a response:

This perfectly illustrates what is happening on the ground in thestates. Millions of actual workers are making their voices heard in support of the Employee Free Choice Act. On the other side the business front groups are relegated to trying to gin up faux grassroots support – and possibly even needing to pay people to do it.

Joe the non-Plumber Doesn’t know…

Well, well, well… Joe the dumber non-plumber doesn’t know a lot about everything and I doubt that he knows even a little about anything and yet, he continues to shoot off his big mouth. Thank you to MorrillMajority for taking the trip to Harrisburg and interviewing the conservatives’ puppet, Joe Wertzelbacher. I knew that I could count on you 🙂 .

Joe the Plumber will not fade away!

Cenk talks about Joe the Plumber’s book deal.  The Huffington Post has the details on Joe’s book.

It seems that Wurzelbacher has secured a book deal with PearlGate Publishing. Is this for the book that he’s been touting in advance of this deal on his website? Yes, apparently! (That website has a spiffy-new early 2000’s redesign by the way, but buyer beware! The cost of a “Freedom Membership” has just gone up by a dollar!)

The book is to be published December 1st, just in time for your Christmas shopping.  For myself, not even morbid curiosity could get me to buy that book.  Cenk also found an ad that Joe the Plumber is doing for VelocityStore.com.  I agree with him, it is very cheezy.

Maher: Tax Form for Joe The Plummer 1040FU

New Rule, Barack Obama needs to raise Joe the Plumber’s taxes.  Not the middle class taxes, just Joe’s.  Congratulations Joe, you are in a tax bracket of one.  Don’t pretend that twinkies are healthy now that you can get them in a 100 calorie size.  New Rule, the guy in AC/DC needs to quit wearing these schoolboy outfits.  He is almost 53 years old, this doesn’t say he is on the highway to heaven.  The Hardcore Republican base is like a stalker.

Fox News: Colmes Nails Joe the Plumber for Being on Welfare

Joe the Plumber hates spreading around the wealth and says that is stealing; but as Colmes points out he was on Welfare.  Joe the Plumber’s argument is that he paid into it.  What Joe the Plumber is not looking up or is ignoring; the fact that social security and welfare are both government programs designed to protect citizens from the economic risks and insecurities of life.   The very idea that he is condemning, he has taken advantage of.

Obama supporter attacked in front of his kids by McCain volunteers

The madness needs to end.  Too many people have been hurt for no other reason, than their support of Obama.  This latest incident happened in front of young children.

This HuffingtonPost contributor (an independent filmmaker) received an email from one of his friends from California.

Just to paint the picture, Harry is in his late 40s and built like a graphic artist; tall and thin. He has two daughters aged five and eight who were with him when this attack occurred near Woodland Hills, a residential suburb of Los Angeles.

“You should have been there! I was standing on a busy corner in my neighborhood with my daughters waving my Obama/Biden sign. I was kitty-corner to the San Fernando Valley Campaign Headquarters of John McCain. For two hour I was getting about 8 honks for every one honk for McCain.

Joe the Plumber Goes Hollywood

Many of us thought he would disappear from the limelight, after everyone found out he was an unlicensed plumber with unpaid back taxes.  Well, that doesn’t seem to be the case.  According to Della Croce, who has managed rock stars, Joe the Plumber is a special case.  “Never in 25 years have I seen this level of interest in a celebrity,” Della Croce said.

Joe the Plumber didn’t just hire a publicist, he hired a publicity team.  Della Croce is dishing on their latest client Joe.

The Press Office in Nashville, where clients include rockers Grand Funk Railroad and Eddie Money, will help him handle the flood of interview and appearance requests that have poured in since he was mentioned during a presidential debate and quickly became a household name.

Fox News: Shep Smith Made Disclaimer After Joe the Plumber Interview

You can see that Shep Smith is visually upset with the frightening message from Joe the Plumber.  Joe the Plumber is on the campaign trail with John McCain scaring people with a vote for Obama is “death to Israel.”

The Huffington Post reported on this very disturbing interview that upsets me on many levels.  This fear-mongering is unconscionable, it’s the lie that upset Smith so much.

“It’s all a part of Joe the Plumber’s “Maybe I’m A Foreign Policy Expert, But Anyway, You Should Go Out And Get Your Own Opinions On Things Instead Of Listening To Mine, Even Though I’m Going To Keep Opining If You Give Me Half A Chance, And Anyway, I Don’t Even Really Know What John McCain’s Position Is On Anything Anyway, And Probably I Should Be Snaking A Sink Trap Or Something, Instead Of Dragging Myself All Over The Country Making Statements Which I Then Sort Of Disavow A Few Minutes Later Anyway, Who Knows?” Tour of 2008!

CNN: McCain-Palin Campaign Follies

If the campaign doesn’t end soon, the ladies on the View are going to kill each other.  Ellen DeGeneres says she has been watching CNN so much that she is now calling her den “The Situation Room.”   Which pales next to the X-rated Sarah Palin look-a-like film that Hustler Publisher Larry Flynt has made.  Poster of the day is “Attack of the 50ft Palin.”  The conservative blogs are attacking Family Guy for sticking a McCain/Palin pin on a character wearing a Nazi uniform.  The McCain campaign keeps pinning it’s hopes on a certain Joe, that would be “Joe the Plumber.”  A Portland, Oregon radio station KEX organized a donation drive to help “Joe the Plumber” pay his overdue tax bill.  They raised more than what Joe needed, they raised $1,800.00.

CNN: Drew Griffin To Interview Sarah Palin

UpDate: The video just released. (TRANSCRIPT)

Update II:  Part (2) Drew Griffen interview with Palin.

Mark Halperin had this up on “The Page,” entitled “Palin Declines To Call Obama a “Socialist” in CNN Interview.”

The Alaska Governor instead invokes Joe the Plumber and his view of Obama’s tax plan when asked by CNN investigative reporter Drew Griffin whether she would label the Democratic nominee a socialist.

More — including answers on Troopergate, how she squares with McCain on certain fiscal policies — to air on CNN’s “The Situation Room.”

I checked over to the Washington Monthly – Political Animal to see what Steve Benen’s take on this would be and he had some great points about Drew Griffin the reporter doing the interview.

Conservatives: “Sarah Palin as president gives me acid reflux”

Jake Tapper, over at Political Punch, notes that many conservatives are continutally embarrassed by Gov. Sarah Palin.  They are speaking out about her inability to understand the talking points she throws out to crowds.

“The thought of Sarah Palin as president gives me acid reflux,” Chris Buckley tells the New York Times. He said his father, the late conservative icon William F. Buckley, “would have been appalled.”

Writes Peggy Noonan, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin “is a person of great ambition, but the question remains: What is the purpose of the ambition? She wants to rise, but what for?…She doesn’t think aloud. She just . . . says things….She does not speak seriously but attempts to excite sensation…

“In the past two weeks she has spent her time throwing out tinny lines to crowds she doesn’t, really, understand. This is not a leader, this is a follower, and she follows what she imagines is the base, which is in fact a vast and broken-hearted thing whose pain she cannot, actually, imagine. She could reinspire and reinspirit; she chooses merely to excite. She doesn’t seem to understand the implications of her own thoughts…

Peggy Noonan wrote a critical op-ed entitled Palin’s Failin that Jake Tapper took a few excerpts from, here are more of Noonan’s observations.

Maher: “Joe the Plumber”, McCain, Campaign Smears

Bill Maher has a panel of guests, Martin Short, Ben Affleck, and Bernie Sanders.  The panel weighs in on “Joe the Plumber”, talks about how John McCain use to be, and all the Campaign Smears.

Lessons: Never let Bush give a speech & No Presidential Campaign based on a guy from YouTube!

International Herald Tribune

Gail Collins did another awesome op-ed about, Is Anybody Happy?  She covered everything from George Bush’s speech on Friday to the fatal mistake made by McCain in using “Joe the Plumber” as the centerpiece, in the final days of his campaign.   These are the excerpts that I found most noteworthy, also her lessons to be learned are too funny.

First of all, George W. Bush showed up on TV Friday morning to reassure Americans. What could possibly be worse? Everybody knows that anything the U.S. president says is very likely wrong, and certainly won’t happen. If he announced: “I’m sending government agents to Spokane to arrest the looters,” we would expect that the officials would get lost, nobody would be arrested, and the looters probably never existed in the first place.

So hearts sunk throughout the United States when Bush appeared at a Chamber of Commerce gathering to say that the economy would recover.

“America is the most attractive destination for investors around the globe. America is the home of the most talented and enterprising and creative workers in the world,” said the president, who also insisted that “democratic capitalism remains the greatest system ever devised.”

Which translates into: All the money is going to Asia, nobody will ever get a job again and Karl Marx was right after all. Bummer.

McCain Advisor Defending “Joe the Plumber” Gimmick

McCain advisor Brian Jones tells MSNBC that the “Joe the Plumber” gimmick was “spontaneous,” and that it “just happened.”  He is trying to defend a gimmick that has completely backfired.

“Joe the Plumber” is another McCain gimmick gone wrong and is emblematic of McCain’s erratic campaign.   One of McCain’s desperate attempts to ride the coattails of “Joe’s” fame.

“Joe The Plumber” Part II – The Vetting Of Joe

I had to start a new post, this way I could keep all the new developments straight in the ongoing saga of Joe “the Plumber”.  Who we all know is not a licensed plumber.  It seems John McCain is vetting Joe the Plumber the same way he vetted Sarah Palin.  Which as it seems, is not at all.

John McCain is so impressed he has put Joe “the Plumber” in his new campaign ad.  Senator declared Joe the Plumber, not himself, the winner of Thursday night’s debate.

The latest update from the Huffington Post:

A day after a man nicknamed “Joe the Plumber” became the focus of the political world, the McCain campaign cut a commercial hoping to ride his supporter’s fifteen minutes of fame.

Joe the Plumber Admits The Truth

UpDate III:  Joe the Plumber thinks Social Security is a joke.

It seems that Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher is a registered Republican.  Surprise!  He voted in his first primary on March 4, 2008, registering as a Republican.  In fact, the gang at DailyKos found that every single Wurzelbacher in the Milford and Cincinnati area contributes to the Republican Party.

UpDate IV:  Joe “the Plumber” is no relation to Robert Wurzelbacher.  No connection to the Keating 5 Scandal.  Marty thought he might have had a connection there, but even Keith Olbermann on MSNBC said they were not related.

Update V:  “Joe The Plumber” Part II – The Vetting Of Joe.  Link to my new post.  With all the latest updates.  Including John McCain’s new Campaign Ad featuring “Joe the Plumber.”  Latest Update about “Joe the Plumber” – from Bloomberg and more.  (use my new post link)

This is what Marty Eisenstadt uncovered yesterday on his blog:

John McCain did great tonight in the debate. But every time John mentioned “Joe the Plumber,” some of us in the campaign banged our heads against the wall. If Steve Schmidt had any hair left, I hear he would have been pulling it out tonight. He reportedly screamed at John’s debate prep team tonight (out of earshot of reporters, of course). “You idiots – he’s related to Charles Keating… of the Keating Five scandal!” They thought they had a real live Joe Six-Pack who’s spurned Barack Obama’s tax plan. But what they forgot to do was check on Joe Wurzelbacher’s background.

Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

Over at The Jed Report, he feels the same way I do about “Joe the Plumber”, but he found some interesting facts out also.
