Karl Rove- The Architect of the Republican’s Downfall

May I venture a guess? A few years down the road, say in 2030, the current state of the GOP will be seen by political scientists and historians as follows:

By opening up the GOP right wing to the Evangelicals Karl Rove achieved a short term victory, which brought the defeat of the Republicans in its wake. The Bush Presidency, Rove’s biggest strategic achievement, and its costly illegal war in Iraq, in addition to its unchecked supply side economics, unbridled spending, while lowering revenue, led to a deep recession which left Millions of Americans on the brink of destitution.

The conflicts within the party were glossed over by a victory in the 2010 mid-term elections, which came at the height of the economic fall-out and was aided by inherent racist tendencies against a black President. Tendencies in constituencies which have been tapped years before, when Rove’s strategy opened the GOP to the right.

In the aftermath of this “victory” the “purists” in Congress managed to bring Government to a virtual standstill, thus enabling the sitting President to win re-election. A victory won not on policy in the first place, but on a deep seated division in the country mostly about “social issues” brought to the forefront by some contenders for the nomination, which have to be counted as candidates for the Rove constituency.

The loss in 2012 brought about a prolonged battle for the heart and soul of the Republican Party, which showed victories of both sides, but left relevant policy making on the sidelines for years to come. Meanwhile, the society and economy in the United States evolved and modernised, while the conflict left the GOP without any discernible answer to economic and /or societal problems. It took the Republican Party another 16 years to regain their footing and be competitive again.

The name of Karl Rove, highly acclaimed in the early 2000s has by now become synonymous for self-defeating strategy among GOP politicians.

  1. šŸ˜† that was sort of funny. I am still not over Seb, though. He is the single most vile douchebag F1 has to offer these days. **grump**

    • I am hoping Webber gets another chance when leading, and next time Horner says slow down, he drives it on the limit until the checkers or it blows. Also, he should inform the team if Vettel passes him in violation of team orders again he will park the car.

      • All just because old man Helmut Marko has this hard-on about Vettel. He doesn’t like the more independent minded Australian, he prefers pliable Vettel. I could spit!

  2. Zoooey AKA :”Grumpy Cat” scolded me for spoiling her joke. I believe she may be the real grumpy cat but don’t tell her I said so.

  3. The cognitive dissonance in these people never ceases to amaze me. I don’t think any of these Tea Party people expressed a single view with which I agree.

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2013/03/23/why-tea-partiers-are-boycotting-fox-news.html

A leader of the boycott, Kathy Amidon, of Nashville, declined an interview, instead directing The Daily Beast to a website, Benghazi-Truth. The website, a single-page, 23,000-word manifesto complete with multicolored fonts, supposedly incriminating videos of Fox Newsā€™s complicity in a coverup, and communist propaganda photographs, is kept by someone who identifies himself online as ā€œProe Graphique,ā€ and who other members of boycott described as someone who works ā€œin New York media.ā€

Sorry to have linked to their site, but face it, we’re Liberals, and we prefer to make up our own minds about some things.

ā€œWe have seen FOX suddenly get very loud about Benghazi after the 1st boycott, but conservatives are conservative because they are not stupid,ā€ the website reads. ā€œWe recognize, easily, loud noise which is low on substance. In other words, by whining loudly about Benghazi without the kind of hard-hitting investigative reporting that brought down Nixon over Watergate, what we are seeing from FOX IMO is smoke and mirrors; a trick, to fool us into dutifully genuflecting at their [sic] alter of their arrogant hosts who throw us crumbs with one hand while insulting us with the other. If we want FOX to get serious, weā€™re going to have to keep hitting them hard. And that is just exactly what we’re going to do.ā€

Here’s the thing. The reason FOX never gave any in-depth stories about the “Benghazi cover-up” is because there was no Benghazi cover-up. FOX brought no substance because there was no substance to bring. They were not trying to inform, they were trying to inflame. They were not bringing enlightenment, they were bringing derangement.

Stan Hjerlied, 75, of Fort Collins, Colo., and a participant in the boycott

said that ā€œIf I want news, I go to Breitbart News and Drudge and I can find all the news I need, very quickly,ā€ and after the first boycott, says he may have ā€œkicked the habitā€ for good.

ā€œI used to have it on all day long, and I probably watched maybe six hours last week,ā€ he said. ā€œThe more I looked at it, I have come to the conclusion that Fox is not as fair and balanced as I thought. They shade the truth also.ā€

And he’s just noticing that now? After fifteen years?

Donnie Farner, 48, works as a chimney sweep in central Pennsylvania and runs a website, Proud Conservative, which sells right-leaning memorabilia like ā€œLiberals Are Friggin Idiotsā€ T-shirts and bumper stickers which read ā€œTen Out of Ten Terrorists Recommend Voting Democrat.ā€

Um, I hate to break this to him, but I’m pretty sure al Qaeda endorsed Bush in 2004 (because they liked what his policies were doing for their recruitment efforts) and McCain in 2008 because they figured he’d be just like Bush. I also recall them not wanting Kerry or Obama to win because then there would be someone in the WH opposed to them.

And then Hjerlied blew the whole thing by breaking Godwin’s Law

ā€œWe need Fox to turn right,ā€ said Hjerlied. ā€œWe think this is a coverup and Fox is aiding and abetting it. This is the way Hitler started taking over Germany, by managing and manipulating the news media.ā€

Amazing. And these people are allowed to vote.

    • Fortunately, they don’t always vote for someone from either the Republics or the Democratic Party. They are a crazy bunch. The Republics encourage these nutcases to show up in 2010 and now they have to deal with them. The teabaggers hid under their rocks and in their caves for years until the Republics got them fired up and ready to vote. In 2010, I saw people come to the polls to vote that I NEVER saw before and I had been working the polls from 7am to 8pm for several years. I’m hoping these idiots go back to their caves or crawl back under their rocks.

    • So. They aren’t mad because FAUX”News” lied to them about the last election but they are mad that FAUX”News” isn’t lying enough about Benghazi and other matters. I think I need to say those three words again.

      Stark
      Raving
      Mad

    • Bill0 is an extremely stupid, as opposed to ignorant, man but he knows that his audience is even more stupid and ignorant. I still think the best example is his “tides come in… Goddidit” crap. He tried that argument with Richard Dawkins in 2005 or 2006 and Mr. Dawkins explained that we have known exactly what causes the tides since Issac Newton described gravity. And yet? Half a decade later Bill0 still hasn’t been convinced that that the moon and the sun cause the tides

    • “blacks mightB risky”…

      wtf.
Wayne, there is no other way to interpret – it’s racist.

It was a horrific crime — no matter the race of the perpetrator.

  4. The tale of ‘Toothy’ the tortoise.
Back in August I was entrusted with cat and tortoise sitting. Unfortunately the tortoise some how escaped.
Days upon days of looking for said reptile were fruitless. Even checking the neighbors yard just in case he made it that far…

Today my brother and niece texted a picture of: “Toothy” very much alive! He’s been hiding behind and between the BBQ pit and the garage wall…
appx. 50 feet and a left turn some three feet from where his outdoor home had been!
    A mighty sturdy tortoise!

  5. Meanwhile, people are starving to death, and lack medical care.

Hamm Divorce Could Be Most Expensive of All Time | ABC News Blogs – Yahoo!

It’s the divorce that could split up control of America’s fastest growing oil company and lead to a record-breaking paycheck for the wife who claims her husband cheated.

Harold Hamm, 67, who ranks No. 35 on Forbes’ list of richest Americans, is a self-made man worth more than $11 billion.

Sue Ann Hamm, 56, Harold’s second wife, filed for divorce on May 19, 2012, claiming that she discovered he was having an affair in 2010, eventually prompting her to end their nearly 25-year marriage.

Hamm was the senior energy advisor on Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign and is so wealthy that the candidate allegedly shied away from appearing in public with him. An industry leader, Hamm is a promoter of fracking – the business of squeezing oil out of rocks in places like North Dakota.

  6. Right wing websites are reporting that Syrian President Assad has been shot by a bodyguard, and is hospitalized in Damascus. No other sites appear on a search, just New York Daily News, inagist, gateway pundit, freeper etc,

    • This is clearly bogus since here it is Sunday night and the shooting supposedly happened Saturday night. I don’t think Syria can control the media THAT much.
