Montel Williams loses his job after defending troops on FOX News..

For just over three minutes on Saturday morning, TV talk show host Montel Williams owned the hosts of Fox and Friends. A former Marine and Naval officer, Montel lectured the stunned hosts on the stupidity of spending air time on the death of Heath Ledger, rather than covering the war in Iraq. It was a spectacle rarely seen on live cable television, as Montel exposed and condemned both tabloid “news” shows and much of American culture for what they have each become: shallow and greedy.

Three minutes into this awkward segment on Fox, one host cut off Montel in order to go to a commercial. Montel did not return after the break. Four days later, after 17 years as a television host, Montel lost his job. Variety reported on Wednesday that the

Fate of “The Montel Williams Show” was sealed when key Fox-owned stations opted not to renew it for the 2008-09 season.

Brandon then writes:

I have no idea whether Montel already knew his show wasn’t going to be renewed, and thus felt emboldened to cut loose on the air, or whether his firing was a result of his actions on Saturday. Either way, Montel Williams exhibited courage this week that few in the television industry ever will. And for that, American troops around the world stand with him. We support him not only because he stood up for the troops, but because he did it on Fox News—a station that has done more damage to the U.S. military since 9/11 than any other.

Montel Williams is an American patriot. Though he left the military years ago, he has never forgotten “his” troops.

For that we salute and thank you, Montel. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do next.

  4. Good for Montel! Maybe he’ll speak out more!

    Those Fox pricks are soooo pompous. They’re the ones who act like you can’t support the troops if you oppose the war, but they sit there acting like it’s BORING that troops are dying in Iraq. Old hat, ya know.

    But Heath Ledger dying of an accidental overdose? There’s some hot news! Don’t get me wrong, his death is a tragedy for his family and loved ones — but why are these ghouls still feeding on this?

  5. Good for Montel…..I use to watch him faithfuly, he has done so many good thing’s…Lately I havent had anything but new’s, did catch a couple of show’s with Sylvia Brown and Montel..The bad guy’s will try to silence all truth, sad..

    OT sorry, doe’s any one else remember this day in 59..Buddy Holly’s plane went down and he and the LaBamba guy, Richie, along with the Big Bopper all died as well as the pilot… …In 1690 Mass…started printing paper money…..The beginning of our problem’s……Blessings

  6. Don’t get me wrong, his death is a tragedy for his family and loved ones — but why are these ghouls still feeding on this?

    Because it redirects or diverts peoples’ attention away from stuff like… I don’t know,.. the war? The administration and their abuse of their powers..? Acts of treason..?

    This stuff (Ledger’s death) is more juicy and entertaining.

  10. dbadass, all those long hour’s ripping lip’s, cutting and scaling fish is taking it’s toll……LoL…He had a good show, did a lot of work for abused, sick and missing people….Hooked up a lot of people with support group’s and finance’s…A big contributer to and affected by MS….A very good man in my opinion…

    I use to watch him faithfully every morning, then when Katrina happened I got involved more on the internet and watching new’s channel’s….Sorry you missed it…..Blessings
