You know it’s bad when..

.. your own party suggests you step down..?

Are Palin’s days numbered? Everyone is talking about how this woman is out of her depth in this race following her three television ‘interviews’, but now the Republicans are coming out and saying it too.

From The National Review:

Palin Problem – She’s out of her league.

by Kathleen Parker

If at one time women were considered heretical for swimming upstream against feminist orthodoxy, they now face condemnation for swimming downstream — away from Sarah Palin.

To express reservations about her qualifications to be vice president — and possibly president — is to risk being labeled anti-woman.
Or, as I am guilty of charging her early critics, supporting only a certain kind of woman.

Parker initially supported Palin. Now? Not so much.. The following surprised even me.

It was fun while it lasted.

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there.

Kathleen Parker then goes on to give a couple of good, detailed examples. She ends with these scathing observations:

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

If Palin were a man, we’d all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she’s a woman — and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket — we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.

What to do?

McCain can’t repudiate his choice for running mate. He not only risks the wrath of the GOP’s unforgiving base, but he invites others to second-guess his executive decision-making ability. [..]

[..] Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Do it for your country.

Well, she didn’t mince words.. [My emphasis in bold]

Is this the beginning swell of a giant tsunami? And who would replace her..

There are only 40 days left until the election. Will this be yet another October surprise?

  1. After all the “Britney Spears” moments that McCain has been doing over the past 4 weeks, I wouldn’t at all be surprised if he replaces Palin. Nobody really pays much attention to the lying, poor impulse control, John McCain so he has to pull crazy stunts to get media attention. Replacing Palin would focus the media back on him, crazy man McCain.

  2. Well, since tonight’s debate is on, there’ll be no postponement of the VP debate. If she hasn’t bowed out by then, the next day her own party may finish her themselves.

  3. Would someone please give this crazy lady a match so she can fix her hair….LOL..Sorry, that wasen’t nice was it…Even witch’s have weird thought’s..LOL..Blessings…P.S. The wolf bounty hunter is not very pretty after all..

  4. This story has hit the MSM – it’s on CNN’s front page.

Now, we know McCain loves to pull huge stunts in the hopes of getting big, if temporary, jumps in the polls. If Sarah steps down a week before the election, and, say, Mittens takes her place, that might produce a perfectly timed bump to push the old goat into the WH. If it happens sooner, like next week, that would allow time for the bump to fade again. On the other hand, he needs Mittens sooner rather than later to give him some cred with fiscal conservatives and Wall Street insiders, who currently think McCain is a complete doofus.

    What a melo(noma)drama.

  5. You are stealing my thoughts. I was sitting here wondering, if after he has totally embarrassed himself tonight the GOP masters will take John McCain out (of the race). My nightmare ticket was the Mittster and the Huck (for the whacky base).

  6. Well they may try that but the mit is a mutt to the christian’s on the reich..They think of him like they think of witch’s….lol…Just saying…Blessings

  7. Why not another woman, only this time one with some credibility. Kay Bailey Hutchinson was wondered about after Palin was announced, maybe she’s too Bushy.
The fundies wanted McSame/ Huckabee, but Huck criticized McSame over suspending his campaign.

  8. You know things are bad when Katie Couric, who isn’t a great interviewer, stumps Palin.

Palin did not even speak in sentences, she was not coherent. Her answers were muddled and her responses proved that she has no idea what she’s talking about. She doesn’t even seem to understand the entire premise of questions.

Putin and his comrades must have been watching while drinking bottles of vodka and laughing hysterically at their ‘neighbor’.

  9. I don’t think anybody wants to run with McCain. It’s not good to be the losing vp candidate. Plus if he gets rid of Palin all those dim wits that think she’s great will stay home.

  10. You’re right, my good witch, putting Mittens in Flailin’ Palin’s place would be problematic with the fundies, but he’d hang onto some of Palin’s lady vote because he’s just so…. dreamy.

It seems all of McCain’s top choices are problematic.

    – Lieberman – not conservative enough for the base
    – Huckabee – high negatives outside the fundie belt
    – Guiliani – now there would be a great family values ticket
    – Ridge – frightens small children

With those options, maybe hanging onto Flailin’ Palin isn’t so bad.

Or maybe he could call up Sergeant Shriver. He’s pro-life, and he has experience as a fallback choice for a losing candidate. And, at 92 years old, he’ll make McCain look chipper.
